Seriously. If the 'move to position' command was instead 'move-to-and-HOLD' it would save me a lot of headaches. Without near-constant micro, using chokepoint tactics, LOS-breaking, and Ice Wall is made impossible by the party members going Leeroy Jenkins if you don't re-apply 'hold position' after every minute adjustment.
Example 1: There is a room in Redcliffe Castle that has an elevated balcony that you can use to initiate combat, but in order to get everyone on this balcony before the enemies aggro, you have to manually tell them all to climb the ladder one at a time. If you forget to hit 'hold position' as soon as combat begins, your party members will immediately jump back down, defeating the entire purpose. Taking control of someone manually to move or use an ability will also clear the 'hold position' command, meaning if you switch to someone else and forget to, again, mash 'hold position', that party member will jump down to take on the mobs alone.
Example 2: Ice Wall in general. Using this power for area-denying shenanigans breaks party AI, whereupon they will all begin vigorously humping the wall because they don't have a direct LOS of the enemies on the other side. This can be a big deal because some enemy auto attacks can actually clip through the wall and hit your party members, and of course they'll likely get fried by their own AOE if you have friendly fire on. Precious time that I could be using to carpet-bomb the enemies with AOE is wasted issuing an individual move command for each person, and then following it immediately by a 'hold position', as otherwise they will immediately abandon the position I told them to move to, and resume humping the wall.
I believe the other two games suffered many of the same problems, but here it is much more frustrating due to the limited supply of healing items, and the need for more micro in general with the changes to the game mechanics. When using tactical commands, I think the gameplay would benefit greatly if there were some middle ground or state between "following last issued command" and "Jesus take the wheel"
