Granted I've only played for around 23 hours or so on nightmare, but man I wish I rolled a 2hand warrior instead. My reasons.

1. 2hand melee has aoe now, so even if I am behind a 2handed opponent with my rogue I still get hit by it even while behind them, and on nightmare it pretty much 2 hits my rogue. 

2. The other thing I'm finding is that the enemies move around a lot more than they did in origin, so staying behind guys is a bit tedious now. It's like they wanted us to play this game as an action game (DA:2, ew disgusting) and constantly move around with your enemy but you just don't do that in tactical mode so this is just one more negative aspect regarding dual wield rogue when you have to be behind them.

3. I am trying to find what advantage there is in playing rogue in this iteration of dragon age in comparison to warrior but it doesn't seem like there is one, especially when the game defaults you varric right from the start.

4. The fact that we cannot allocate points into cunning (for dodge) is especially bad because that means unlike in dragon age origins, we can't really dodge jack now. It was possible in origins to go pure cunning rogue and then be a dodge-tank but that seems impossibru now.

So... if anybody hasn't decided this decision yet, take my advice and go warrior. That new guard ability they get is also extremely better than anything rogue has. You basically get free HP (guard) from abilities so not only can you be a more effective tank than rogue but the combat is going to be a lot easier considering you won't have to be behind opponents and you can help as a 2ndary offtank, rogue can't tank absolutely anything in this iteration of dragon age lol...  

I'm going to keep playing instead of rerolling to see if it gets any better and update this post but this is just my evaluation thus far.

Has anyone unlocked the assasin in MP?  Is it worth the materials to craft the armour?

I absolutely adore my Assassin, but I haven't tried Reaver or Alchemist (or Hunter, Archer, Katari, etc...) yet. that said, Hidden Blades (and the upgrade) absolutely murder things.
