Yeah, live is letting 360 users DL the DLC for free. I am still waiting to see how this turns out. Whether PC users get it all for free as well in turn, if PC users get screwed (im ok with this since karma always comes around), or if 360 users will have to validate when it releases for real and thus get nothing out of it.

lol. They still haven't fixed that marketplace website up. Now the problem is that for people who download this by using the link and microsoft decides to patch it up then users might get screwed over. That is if bioware hasn't upgraded mass effect 2 to force load a game when dlcs that were active on the game are no longer present. In ME1 if you had a DLC and deleted it then you could no longer use your saves that relied on that dlc.

This reminds me of the golden gun on Gears of War 2. But if I remembered correctly Microsoft patched that up and removed it from illegitimate users.

For 360 users who spring to the link. You might want to test once me2 comes out if deleting the dlc from your hdd affects your save. The microsoft patch will come so the few that can get the dlc will have very few moments to enjoy it.

It might be like this though:

in DA when you start the game it say: "checking DLC" or whatever. So it might check and say: "Sorry, you can't use it" or maybe they can earn some cash on this and ask us to pay for these DLC.Or it will not register them at all.
What ever the outcome, they can't ban us, because.. hey its MS that give us free stuff, they offer - we take. Worst case we will just get items that we are supposed to get anyway :)

First time in my life that I actually like monday!

if it ends up you can't use it that's alright cuz you started with nothing and then you go back to nothing, so what do you lose? nothing

"*Technically, you get this when signing up for the Cerberus Network, but whatever -- download it now."

So might as well grab the stuff now before the servers overload on release.

No such thing ever happened, though a Kotaku editor made the mistake of reporting so.

In Xbox 360, DLC works with licenses. If you downloaded the content and you own the license then there is no way of the game knowing if you used a code or downloaded it for free. You own the content because you own the license. The license is acquired when you download the content. So technically the dlc will work. But of course eventually microsoft will notice this since it has already happened with other games like Gears of War 2. Microsoft can then see who used a redeem code and who simply downloaded for free and then patch it to disable the dlcs downloaded without redeem codes.

The fact that it was patched up or the fact that the golden gun was available? I remember some of my friends saying they lost their gold lancers. I'll check up on the internet and see if it really happened. I did had the chance to download the content at that time but I didn't plan on purchasing gears of war 2.

That didn't happen. All they did was change the price to 999,999 MS point and those of us who got it free, well, we got it free Posted Image.

Ane if ppl with these DL's never play ME2 while online? They'd have to make a patch that is incorprated in a patch that forces you to update your dash board which is unlikely. Though I don't care either way, just saying is all.

That it was patched up, I think. Although I deleted mine some time ago due to it being too gaudy,

Would it be considered "Wrong" to take advantage of this?

Get it whilst it's there. They can't take it away from you if you download it legitimately. For now; it's free content.

LOL what do you mean karma? You act like 360 users are doing something wrong by downloading this. We aren't, we are simply capitalizing on microsoft's mistake.

PC users won't get it most likely. If they do it will be because bioware feels bad you guys didnt have this happen for you too... but still don't see it happening.

Annnnd people who have the game early already confirmed it works 100%. You don't need to validate anything, that isn't how DLC works brah. My friend in America who has the game already confirmed for me that it works, he showed me screenshots ,as have multiple people in the game faqs thread.

That "checking DLC" is checking to see if you have DLC downloaded so it can load it all up for you when you load your saved game. It's not checking licenses.

I thought the 'M-29 Incisor Sniper Rifle' was a PC only thing.

Or did I miss a meeting?

I read up on the golden lancer code. It seems you're right. It was a bluff by microsoft. http://www.joystiq.c...ld-lancer-offer In other words all they can do is change the price of the content but seems its too hard to differentiate legitimate users from free down loaders.

Download while you can people. This is raging on twitter right now. It won't take long until Microsoft notices and quickly fixes it. Download while they sleep. lol.

I think DLC for the PC will get pirated regardless. Unfortunately, this recent screw up gives PC players justification to download the pirated versions unless Bioware makes it free

The former is more likely. The latter is a terrible business decision

You call Bioware
