DA:I maxed out with a 2+ year old rig, no issues Ultra settings. CPU usage less than 50% and framerate solid.

I keep seeing PC users posting frame rate issues and CPU issues.  I finally bought the game today.

First of all, only marginally nicer looking than the Xbox One.  It is also definitely geared toward a controller, which I am fine with.  if you want to really play PC games you have a controller and a Logitech G13 on your desk.

Rig:

Motherboard ASUS P9X79 with latest BIOS

Processor  i7-3820 (3.6 Ghz over clocked to 4.65 Ghz)  Liquid cooled with an off the shelf H60. (If you can install a door knob you can install sealed system liquid cooling)

8 GB of DDR3 Overclocked to match the base multiplier of the CPU.  Voltage increased accordingly

Nvidia GeForce 680 OC2 2GB  With latest drivers.

Yes I see a few stutters, yes I will definitely back off a few settings, Yes my 2 year old rig runs the game fine.  45-55 FPS in game and 25 FPS in cut scenes.  If my ancient rig can run this game with everything set to ultra then lesser rigs that are newer should be able to run on Medium/High.

Yes, 2 years in the context of technology is very old. The processor released February 2012 and is a generation behind.  The GPU is 2 generations behind.

I guess you can call an overclocked 4.65ghz LGA2011 X79 system an "ancient rig."

The same way that I can call my modded '08 GT2 an "ancient car."

If my GT2 can do 1/4 mile in less than 11.8 seconds, then your brand new 2015 Toyota Prius should be able to do at least 11.9.

There have been loads of performance threads with also much smaller titles. Why don't you try talking about your "ancient" rig there?

I have backed mine down to High and bumped up a most of the settings to Ultra and see a solid 60 FPS and 30 FPS with little to no micro-stutter.  Even maxed out I never saw more than 50% CPU usage and 90% GPU usage.  I think the reason the old rig doing so well is the CPU and memory are clocked to match at the bus level.  Memory step and CPU step are in sync.  A lot of the seemingly decent rigs I see are powerful but have a CPU/memory mismatch.  Vendors sell these rigs as gaming devices and they are utter garbage as soon as you start to push the limits.  The GPU is also factory overclocked to match my bus speed as well.  All the ducks in a row so to speak.

As to why I don't post in the other performance threads?  Because they are filled with deranged children that tell you to get out or call you a fan boy when you point out that their hardware is contributing.

Yup. I was actually just called a fanboy for saying they're taking the "flaws" way too seriously and that throwing insults at Bioware is immature.

I wouldn't necessarily call 45-55 a solid framerate, but still not bad for a 2 year old rig on Ultra.

Are you running 4x MSAA by chance? From what I'm hearing, it's hitting even GTX 980s pretty hard.

What's the point of this thread?  Are you implying that those with better systems and worse performance are lying?  Are you implying that you're an awesome computer hardware...haver?

For the 1% obsessed with the bleeding edge, maybe. Meanwhile the more normal world looks like this: http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey
