I haven't kept up with the recent DAI patches so I'm curious, did any of the patches affect the "Flask of Fire affects Focus-abilites cooldown" exploit at all? I haven't updated the game in quite a while and that was one of my favorite methods of taking down dragons (Mark of Death + double Thousand Cuts = one dead dragon, lol).

So that was what that was. I noticed that Sera had access to Thousand Cuts right after casting it once - and I thought it was just glitching. Guess she had Flask of Fire on then. I'll not use the exploit, but I hope they fix it in the next patch.

Its not the Bioware that we have come to love over the last couple of decades guys, its only a shell of that, its only a hollow name.

The guys who made Bioware, Bioware....... are gone now, EA chased them away.

This company is now formed of EA goons, using the name Bioware, they want to create Action games that allow characters to level up, they dont make RPGs anymore.

DA Inquisition is the worst release in the series.

There is absolutely no scope for melee rogue in this game, they just allowed the players to create a melee rogue because it didn't make sense if there weren't any melee rogues in the game but they didn't know how to implement it.

This new Bioware simply sucks, better change the name of the company.

Melee rogue is unmatched for sneaking into high-level areas. Archers get 30 continuous seconds of stealth via Stealth. DW rogues have that, plus upgraded Flank Attack, which grants stealth that lasts until you do damage or leave the zone (or a fennec gets close enough to perceive you, because fennecs are evil bastards. Don't get suckered by their cute appearance and seemingly peaceful ways!)

To put it more simply: a DW rogue can run from one end of the map to the other without dropping out of stealth.

So it doesn't really matter that they're squishy early-game, as they can power-level (and loot good schematics and accessories) much more easily than any other class. Sneak into Hissing Wastes camps at level 9, and you'll get levels just for laying eyes on a book. Scared of the Canyon Tomb spiders? Flank Attack an ambient mob and you can stroll right past them. Want some of those sweet focus belts that high dragons keep in their nests? Stay out of Perceive range and you can steal everything but the stuff that's on their body.

TBH i dont know if stealth can be maintained infinitely as you said above (but I am sure you must have done it, being a super player and what not) but even if this can be accomplished by a player of average skill like I am....I still don't want to power level and i dont like the kind of gameplay you are describing to venture out solo, stealthing through high level area, without paying attention to plot and story line.

I want to be able to play dw rogue normally sticking with the game plot, as could have done with any other class.

Thank you very much.

I want a normal game play and DW rogues suck at that on nightmare.

It seems a little broken to me. I've been attacked more than a few times while in stealth and often get pulled out of stealth for some inexplicable reason. I wish they would just do away with the invisibility nonsense entirely and make a system where would could actually sneak.

I only sneak through areas to get gear, collectibles, or resources, not for story missions or story-heavy sidequests. I want to hear party comments whenever possible (I'd never even consider doing a solo run, because party banter is one of the best things about the series). But, let's face it, finding shards is a lot more relaxing when I can focus on the jumping puzzle and not on beating back dragonlings or demons while I jump. ;)

Then, when I do work through the story missions, I have awesome armor and daggers, and I have more skill points to play with too. So I can bring whoever I want in my party, instead of thinking "oh, I need to fill a certain party composition for maximum efficiency".

IMO, part of rogues' appeal is their utility. Someone with knives would never win against a warrior if they had to face them toe-to-toe, so they specialize in tipping the scales in their favor. "Sneaking into places they shouldn't be" can be an aspect of that, as is the more combat-oriented stuff like flanking and knockout powder.

I killed every dragon in the game with a melee rogue... I strongly disagree with the OP. If rogues are built properly they can be real butchers in this game.

Mark of the Assasin in combination with Mark of the Rift is insane against dragons. B)

For those having trouble with DW rogues...  here's a tip.    Make masterwork daggers with the "On Hit: Gain Guard" effect.    You can have yourself to full guard in almost no time.   That guard will protect you from the random errant AoE strike.

How did you dw rogues take down the envy demon on nightmare solo?

He was annoying enough for me as an archer.

Definitely not solo, needed meatshield. I have not played this game solo.

If you can get past the first phase as an archer it's not that bad afterwards.  That's why IMO a rogue archer is the best overall in the game.  It has the easiest time soloing on nightmare up to Skyhold (everything after is easy mode).

You can chain Flank attacks as a dw rogue to solo the game. Both rogues can solo nightmare. Flank attack, enter stealth, wait for flank attack to come off cooldown, flank attack again, rinse and repeat until everything is dead.

Envy can hit you with the underground attack while in stealth.

Many things can hit you while in stealth. Archers get especially annoying. I often see enemies locked onto me, even though i'm in stealth. I'll be trying to backstab something it will constantly change it's direction to face me.

It seems like the mechanics of that attack make Envy lock on to you, even if you activated stealth long before he went into it.

Yeah, going into stealth doesn't break line of sight in this game like it should. If an enemy is locked onto you then you are pretty much screwed even if you block line of sight to them. You end up with things like the homing missles that archers fire at you.

Funny how you don't have to do that fight if you don't want to.

I'm sure envy is soloable with a melee rogue, it probably involves a lot of evade, throwing knives/toxic cloud, bees and flank attack but why do that fight when you don't have to.

If you keep moving while in stealth enemies not using the glowing arrow move will generally miss you. If not manually activate stealth. You can also hide behind things to make arrows miss you.

Plus the envy fight is pretty predictable, he follows a set pattern, similar if not identical to the demon commander in multiplayer. The jump trick still works with the underground attack.
