What do these quests give you. I presume, based on the number of shards available in the zone you can only pick one of the 3... So I'm curious to know what the rewards are. Anyone finished these? Which did you choose and why? Oh... and I've been pretty praising of this game so far, it's great, they've done an excellent job, greatly enjoying it... but... FU bioware for this zone/quest....

I thought you could use shards from any zone? I see my quest update whenever I pick up a shard in the Hinterlands.

By the way, this zone, with the constant jumping and running around, is a major test in patience.

This is the only area in the game so far that I've actively hated. The map is useless. I can't tell where anything is or how to get there. Bah.

Yah, visually it's beautiful in parts. But the way the level design was done, it's obvious that it's meant to send you on a cheese hunt through a maze.

ELRO, I just assumed you can only use the shards from this zone. I haven't really been actively seeking the shards as it seems like a lot of busy work and I've been enjoying the other quests more. I guess I'll go zoom around some other zones and look for some shards. I love the astrariums though, and the rewards are sufficient to make doing them worthwhile.

Still, can anyone say what you get from these quests?

You can certainly use shards from any zone. But I haven't completed any of the quests. I opened all three doors, so don't have enough shards for the 2nd door of each yet.

Use the skulls on your maps to find the bright spots and collect the shards.  The shards can be collected from any zone and applied towards the doors.  You need 6 for the first door, 12 for the second and 24 for the third, so 42 per corridor or 126 total.  There are 50 available between Forbidden Oasis, The Hinterlands and Storm Coast.  As far as I could tell there weren't any in the Mire.  So this isn't something you finish early on.  You gain a fair amount of Spirit, Fire and Ice resistance from the coffins in each corridor and unique items at the end.

Ok here it goes. For anyone trying or planning to do the Forbiden Oasis:

There are three doors, Spirit --- Cold --- Fire (no electricity door)

1. What Lyosin said us totally right you need shards to go in each door, the shards we pick in every map. Each door will have 3 chambers and the costs to go in are 6 shards then 12 then 24 for the final one =42

I did the three doors by loading each time back to see the rewards. Here is what you get in the chest in each chamber you will get a resistance belt and runes shards with the allocated chamber element - 7% then a 15% and finally a 30%, also as soon as you open the each chest you will get free resistance points 4% then a 6% and finally a 8% per each chest.

The difference is this, and which changes everything to know which you wanna do if you only have shards for one door, is the other reward the final chest has (I only did it once so hopefully the rewards are the same):

Spirit - Master Spirit Rune: +16 Spirit dmg added per weapon strike to Staffs only
Fire - Master Fire Rune: +16 Fire dmg added per weapon strike any weapon but NOT to Staffs
Cold - Neck or amulet that gives you one free skill to your main Char

In my opinion the amulet is the best, but maybe the fire res is good for fighting dragons, but maybe if u r Mage the +16 run is good, also they droped me a pretty good 81dps staff in the Spirit one.

I have no idea which save file I will choose but I hope this helps you choose. =)

You get enough shards in the game for all three doors...so you don't have to "pick"

Depending where you go first you might only have enough to get through one..but eventually you can open all of them..

And, does someone know what's in the last door? You know, the door you can open when you'll have open the 3 ranks of fire-cold-spirit?

Any clue? :D

The last door is the electricity door.  You'll get the electricity bonus, some good loot, and a fight with (I think the lvl is right?) a level 22 demon that got sealed away there.  Not bad.

Oddly, the only place where shard finding was annoying was the Forbidden Oasis.  Everywhere else, shards were pretty easy to find as I just ran around doing my business.

You need to collect every shard in game to open that last door, though, I believe.

The Oasis really is a pain for pretty much finding anything ... *sigh*
