Is anyone else as upset as I am about this?  Seriously, this is a HUGE mistake, and will keep the absolutely vast majority of people from being able to Platinum this, and I will be quite surprised to see ANYONE be able to get through it, especially in-light of no NG+ benefits, nor being able to have a Healer.

I know that fan-boys and -girls are going try to rationalize how this is a great Trophy, but all of us intellectually-honest people know that when coupled with the other things making this game ALREADY quite difficult, BioWare has, once again created an unecessary major problem for people who WANTED to truly enjoy a marvelous game, and Platinum it.

Having said this very direct rant, does anyone have any real and meaningful tips for being able to complete this on Nightmare difficulty?  I am really not pleased with this, at all, and I quite surprised that more people are not speaking-up and speaking-out on this.

Are achievements not supposed to be, well, achievements?

If you can't enjoy DA:I without maxing out a meaningless number, I really don't think it's the game that has a problem.

LoL, you can enjoy the game without Platinuming it. Nightmare is perfectly doable with a 1 tank + 3 ranged character party.

People will complain either that the game is too easy or too hard. Theres no winning for Bioware. Poor guys.

I'm not a fan of difficulty based achievements.  I enjoy "platinuming" (100% completing) the achievements for games that I love, but I'm not a fan of playing on high difficulties.  I've come to terms with the fact that I can't have everything.  There is still just one achievement for DA: O that I haven't gotten:  Beat the Harvester on nightmare difficulty.  I've tried, literally, dozens of times with numerous builds and classes and just can't do it.  Five years later, it's still a black mark on my record.  But I've lived and I'll live when i don't "platinum" this game too.

Too easy is never a problem, because you have a real chance of Platinuming the game; HOWEVER, when something is almost impossible like this, it creates an incredibly unnecessary problem that never should have been there in the first place, hence the term, UNNECESSARY.

I was able to get the Trophy for that fight, but was only because you could go directly to that DLC, and not have to deal with the ENTIRE GAME on that level, and the characters are all very powerful and very well-equipped at that point, and it was not that difficult at all, at least not for me, at that point.

THE problem is that this entire MASSIVE game has to be completed on Nightmare difficulty, and there is no "easy' way to do a fast run-though of the game just for this Trophy, and the more that I am thinking about this, the angrier I am getting.  I most likely would not have bought this game as I did if I knew this, and would have waited a few months.

I am not going to be like far, far too many other people and just "accept" something like this, because it is NOT acceptable.  This game is simply too massive and far too difficult, on its own, for some nonsense like this, and the people who did this need to know how people like myself feel about this.

How are you fan-boys and -girls doing on Nightmare difficulty?  I already know the answer, but still have to ask.  You people are ALWAYS going to defend-the-indefensible, and that is why we all call you "fan-boys" and "fan-girls".

I stand-by EVERYTHING that I said, 100%, and it is time for people to speak-up and speak-out on this, because your silence is your consent to the unacceptable.

That actually wasn't too bad if you have a maxed out mage.

That might the problem.  I've only ever rolled a single mage (about a dozen warriors and rogues) and he was support/healing spec'd.  Offensive mage was about the only build that I never did because I'm not really into that character type.

All right, fan-boys and -girls, please give a detailed strategy as to how "YOU" are going to get the Trophy, because I definitely want to see it.

you don't NEED to get the achievement to play the game. I am having fun on hard mode because it is just right in terms of challenging and fun for me. If Nightmare isn't FUN for you, then here is a great idea don't play on nightmare, play on an easier difficulty that is fun for you. a game is supposed to be fun so if you aren't having fun on nightmare then lower it so that it is fun.

I think you've misjudged the replies to your OP.  It's not that people think it's going to be easy.  It's that people don't care to get the achievement.  Big difference.

Again, I iterate:

"I" CARE.

Now, is anyone going to contribute something MEANINGFUL, like real tips, tricks, and strategies, or are you all just going to be rationalizers/excusers, and act like fan-boys and fan-girls because YOU KNOW THAT I AM RIGHT, and THAT is why you are deflecting by saying not to worry about the Trophy...

Your complaint really boils down to, "I think this achievement is too hard for me to do, so I'm going to complain about it."

A few points:
1) I'm not a hardcore gamer by any stretch (may buy 3-4 titles a year, mostly RPGs) and I've only ever played the other DAs on normal difficulty. I decided to try this on hard, and 20 hours into the game, I've only died when I ran into enemies who out leveled me by at least 2 levels and boss fights. And the boss fights I have not died more than 3 times.

So for a good gamer, the nightmare achievement is doable, based on my experience.

2) Achievements should be just that...achievements. Things of difficulty that are possible, but cannot be done with ease and/or just grinding.

I actually salute Bioware for making difficult challenges. I know I will never get the nightmare trophy, but that's fine.

If you're this OCD about platinuming this game, I suggest 1 of 2 things:

1) Seek professional help, as I'm sure this isn't the only area of your life this is adversely affecting or

2) Grind it out. Complete every side quest out there and ensure you are massively over-leveled. It will take a lot of time, but you can do it.

Given how vocal people are here on the BSN about well, everything, I'd hazard a guess that very few people have the same anger towards this trophy hunt as you OP. People here, do NOT do silence :P

This is precisely the kind of "response" that I would expect from a BioWare message-board.

SERIOUSLY.
