What is obviously happening is that very few people are even TRYING to do this game on Nightmare, and have basically given-up before trying, so they do-not-have-a-dog-in-this-fight.  Also, these are almost all people who are extremely excited over the CONTENT of the game, and are not "THAT" concerned--YET--about wanting to Platinum the game, but I AM.

Watch what happens in a week, at the most.  There will, inevitably, be people like myself very loudly complaining, and if I am the first, then so be it.

How are you fan-boys and -girls doing on Nightmare difficulty?  I already know the answer, but still have to ask.  You people are ALWAYS going to defend-the-indefensible, and that is why we all call you "fan-boys" and "fan-girls".

I stand-by EVERYTHING that I said, 100%, and it is time for people to speak-up and speak-out on this, because your silence is your consent to the unacceptable.

I can't beat DAO and DA2 on Nightmare.

That's okay.

When I do, it'll be an achievement.

lol, as I said, this game can be beaten on nightmare with the party set up I suggested.

We have people complain both that this game is too hard nightmare and too easy on normal. Perhaps hard mode is just right for most players. This is just like Origins all over again. I guess that means Bioware did something right.

This is precisely the kind of "response" that I would expect from a BioWare message-board.

SERIOUSLY.

I gave you a tip; basically grind it out and over-level yourself. Or, get better at character builds, crafting and combat.

You don't want tips, you want to b!tch. Guess what: it's an achievement. It's doable, you just don't want to do it.

I actually do find this a bit annoying. So many games have hard-mode achievements and I can never get them. I get that it's cool for the hardcore crowd to get their hardcoreness confirmed in writing, but I do always sigh and roll my eyes whenever there is one of those achies in a game. Sometimes it almost feels like I'm being discriminated against just because I'm not super awesomely perfect at gaming.

I've learned to ignore it though and accept that there are things I will never have. Which sucks, but whatyagonnado.

All right, forget my bitching, and have someone very directly say what they are doing to make it through Nightmare difficulty, PLEASE.  What character are you using?  What kinds of strategies work best?  That sort of thing is what I, and others, want to know.

I am sorry for being in such a foul mood, but this Trophy is unnecessarily difficult--no pun intended--, and I DO stand-by, 100%, all that I said.

If you want helpful suggestions, trying being more polite and less confrontational in your posts.

As I said, the best party for nightmare is the same as in DA 2. 1 tank and 3 ranged characters. Champion makes for the ultimate tank and Knight Enchanter provides strong barriers and the only heal spell in the game as a focus ability.

So the easiest party to beat nightmare difficulty would be Blackwall + Sera or Varric + Vivienne + yourself as yet another Archer or Mage.

Being a mage yourself so you can have double access to barrier which will help a lot. In which case know that the Fire tree does the most damage, Storm is for setting up storm combos for large lighting AoE damage, Ice is for CC mostly, and spirit is for barrier.

I'd suggest only using one Knight Enchanter though since having two focus heals is not as useful as having access to Haste or Firestorm. If you want to be a knight enchanter yourself than take Dorian or Solas as your other mage.

With 2 barriers and the invincibility skills of the champion spec, you should find nightmare significantly easier.

How are you fan-boys and -girls doing on Nightmare difficulty?

This "fanboy" actually didn't buy the game yet, as I'm waiting for many people to finish it and review it before I spend my money on it.

And I think what you're saying about Nightmare difficulty is quite silly, since it isn't about the quality of the game, itself.

Thank you.  What exactly would you choose as THE "ultimate" Nightmare Champion?  I mean race, class, spell-focus/foci if mage, etc.?

I really do appreciate the advice.

NB:  What REALLY concerns me about this is fighting all of the Dragons, as necessary for the other major Trophy.

Nightmare mode is hard but enjoyable, it is a good way to improve, to be a better tactician on the field. I will be proud of myself (and of my Celine Trevelyan :) ) if i can finish the game on Nightmare.

And THAT is why I want so badly to be able to Master this game.  ALL advice on how to do this will be greatly-appreciated by everyone, so please contribute.

I hear that the Champion should be a tank; then I hear that the Champion should be a mage.  I further hear that the Champion should be an archer.  God, all mighty...

Would someone please give a definitive answer to what is the best choice, and why?

Thank you.

They allowed us to turn off friendly fire this achievement is totally doable once you find a good party set up. I wouldnt attempt it on my first play through unless I like raging over a silly trophy in a vid game.

I'm not thrilled about a nightmare difficulty trophy on any game- bioware, DA, ME or otherwise. I just don't hAve the time to invest playing on nightmare knowing that while I might be able to do it, I simply won't enjoy it. I have a full time job and a kid to care for- the precious little time I have to game (mostly in early morning or late night hours) I do not want to spend angrily shouting at the tv and the gaming gods. It will be the one trophy in this game that prevents me from platinum.

That being said- my love of trophies is that they give me new ways to play the game. Things to do that I might not have done for any other reason. If a platinum was easy to obtain in every game we played then we wouldn't get so much satisfaction out of hearing that ding and seeing the platinum notification on the screen.

The trophies that anger me are the: multiplayer, grind to level 50 by playing hundreds of hours of the same pointless multiplayer maps over and over again. Still don't have the damn red dead one and I actually liked the multiplayer in that game. Grinding in multiplayer is BORING and says nothing about your ability to play the game other than that you have endless amounts patience.

Long story short- lots of players on here are probably not happy about a nightmare difficulty trophy. Few of them are probably actually angry about it.

All right, folks, since I started this Topic, I might-as-well be the one to tell you how to succeed on Nightmare Difficulty for the Trophy.

As far as I am concerned the absolutely easiest way to do this is to start as a Mage, so as to have another Barrier and all of the bonuses assoicated with it, and Specialize in Spirit and any other School of your choice.  USE VIVIENNE AS KNIGHT ENCHANTER!!!!!!!!  You must also include the Champion, Blackwall, and the final choice is up to you, but is strongly recommended to be Varric, but the first three are essential for success.

All that I can tell you is that this is found by me to MUCH, MUCH EASIER than I ever thought that it would be, and while it IS difficult, it is extremely doable with that party set-up, but especially, if you have two Mages casting Barrier, and have Blackwall in your party, and then later, the most powerful of all, Vivenne as Knight Enchanter.

FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like going after achievements and 100% games I love as well. Where I differ from the OP is that I welcome the challenge. I am currently running through DAI on hard on the Xbox one. It has been very easy and I look forward for a more difficult challenge on my Nightmare playthrough.
