Personally I think its a big plus for a game if the most difficult level is really difficult. Too often there is some KE or ME3 Vanguard like strategy that trivialises it.
Is anyone else as upset as I am about this? Seriously, this is a HUGE mistake, and will keep the absolutely vast majority of people from being able to Platinum this, and I will be quite surprised to see ANYONE be able to get through it, especially in-light of no NG+ benefits, nor being able to have a Healer.
I know that fan-boys and -girls are going try to rationalize how this is a great Trophy, but all of us intellectually-honest people know that when coupled with the other things making this game ALREADY quite difficult, BioWare has, once again created an unecessary major problem for people who WANTED to truly enjoy a marvelous game, and Platinum it.
Having said this very direct rant, does anyone have any real and meaningful tips for being able to complete this on Nightmare difficulty? I am really not pleased with this, at all, and I quite surprised that more people are not speaking-up and speaking-out on this.

In order of bolded text:
1) No. The huge mistake would be to give away achievements for free. "achievements" are useless if they are easy to get. Oh and... only the noobs. You want it? Earn it.
2) Only bad players use "no healing!" as an excuse for their failure. Guard + CC + barrier etc. is more than enough. I had to re-roll nightmare 60 hours in on hard, because the game was too easy. And Im not even using tac cam.
3) What is that even supposed to mean? If you are as intelligent as you are incompetent at this game then I'm surprised you even managed to write this post.
4) More hyperbole, yawn! Major problem as you call it is a slight inconvenience. And stop pretending like you are talking on behalf of other people than yourself.

Exactly to many games hard modes are a walk in the park. I am glad they made this one challenging, when your finished you actualy feel like you accomplished something. I am looking forward to my nightmare run.

+1. I fully endorse this statement. ![]()
That might the problem. I've only ever rolled a single mage (about a dozen warriors and rogues) and he was support/healing spec'd. Offensive mage was about the only build that I never did because I'm not really into that character type.
That was the easiest way to get the achievement IMO. I rolled an offensive mage and spec'd Finn out to be the support mage with backup offensive spells.
Git gud.
Okay, first up: I play on casual. Now that we have that established and out of the way...
If you cannot complete the game on Nightmare, you don't deserve to platinum or 100% achievement it. Achievements and trophies are suppose to indicate skill, dedication, success and mastery of a specific game. If you have not / cannot handle a game's highest difficulty, you are not worthy of that acknowledgement.
Further, be thankful and glad that something superficial and ultimately meaningless to the actual gameplay is the only thing that you are missing out on. It could be much, much worse. There could have theoretically been sections of story, character development, exploration, etc. from which you and I could have been gated. This game, despite being single player, has many similarities to modern MMOs. Fortunately, content gating via skill or difficulty is not one of them.
We do not expect a janitor to win a nobel peace prize.
We do not give war medals to gangsters and thugs.
...So why on earth would an intelligent person expect to be given a commendation marking dedication, knowledge and skill which he or she does not possess?
That just makes absolutely no sense to me whatsoever.
I agree with the OP to some degree. I got a new PS4 for this game and planned to get the Platinum. But Nightmare isn't in my reach. So I'm pissed. But I won't rant about it.
So you are pissed at the game, for providing a challenge YOU aren't good enough to meet? Shouldn't you be more pissed at yourself then?
I can tell, absolutely, that most of the people commenting did not read-through the comments, especially me saying how I have almost earned the Platinum Trophy, and that I am "ALMOST" finished with the game on Nightmare Difficulty.
I concur with someone else who said to focus on Ice, Spirit, and Lightning, as that is precisely what I did.
From now on, people, read the entirety of the conversation before you make-fools-of-yourselves.
Also, I stand-by EVERYTHING that I said, and will never change my view on the BS that it is to have to beat this massive game on a difficulty rating.

Not that hard really. It's tough early on, but if you use your utility spells/abilities right you should make it. It's not BW's fault that you'd rather hold one of the R or L buttons down for 80 hrs.
Some devs put in trophies that just aren't achievable for a majority/minority of people. I'm bad at racing games, and will never get the Platinum for Wipeout. Some are a grind, and i can't be bothered getting, like getting every weapon on Demon's Souls. Some are hard but fair, i got the platinum and 100% for all the Resogun trophies (had to do the local co-op one with my foot and a rubber band...).
But yes it can be annoying when you like a game, and some trophies are off-putting.
I'm not finding DA:I too bad on Nightmare, but i think i'm not enjoying it as much as i might on a lower difficulty. Every combat seems to need tac-cam micro managing, and TBH i'd rather be in live mode.
THE problem is that this entire MASSIVE game has to be completed on Nightmare difficulty, and there is no "easy' way to do a fast run-though of the game just for this Trophy,
As a question: while the story is still pretty long, can one ignore most other content, finish the story on Nightmare, and then lower the difficulty and cleanup post-story?
Basically is there a point-of-no-return (like everyone dies) or would that be an option?
no * Spoilers* if answering, just a yes/no to post-story cleanup.
at first gameplay I had a problems with nightmare diff, nor because of difficulty but because the game controls were realy terrible. Now I did switch to lower diff only one or two times when I get some nerves due some dumb bug like tank loosing a target after the teleportation of arcane horror. Next gameplay I am planning to ride with full nightmare + ffire...
Joke isn´t a difficulty, but PC controls and sometimes insane rift spawns.
Lol, this thread is hilarious! I'm going to go back to playing my awesome game now, there are some non-nightmare difficulty trophies calling my name.
How are you fan-boys and -girls doing on Nightmare difficulty? I already know the answer, but still have to ask. You people are ALWAYS going to defend-the-indefensible, and that is why we all call you "fan-boys" and "fan-girls".
I stand-by EVERYTHING that I said, 100%, and it is time for people to speak-up and speak-out on this, because your silence is your consent to the unacceptable.

One who think he standing is actually long time laying down dude in white shirt with sleeves on the front.
PS. Nightmare is perfectly doable with any comp, FF on.
Next gameplay i plan for 3 team mates only (-1 team mate), balanced party, FF on and no fast travel.
Many know how to swim, but many do not, and only few will complain about others swimming.
So.. after spending 60+ hours playing the game on normal, I decided to restart on Nightmare difficulty.
So far, I am noticing almost NO difference in "difficulty" at all. Still dont need to use tac cam, still don't need to constantly pause combat.. honestly, I had to stop at one point and double checked I was in fact in nightmare difficulty.
Trash fights are still trash, boss fights are only "slightly" harder as far as I can tell.. you actually need to keep your gear upgraded.. but beyond that, not much harder at all.
I'm handicapped. I can't lift my arms and my fingers are slow. I can't react fast to play stuff as tedious as Nightmare mode.
By your logic I should be angry at the fact I was born this way. Because that's why I can't play on nightmare. Good job being an ***hat sir (or madam).
Are you also angry at the orchestra that won't hire you? Are you angry at the kitchen that can't hire you?
Everything cannot be tailored to include everyone. Nightmare is tailored to be a challenge, and it is a requirement for the platinum.
And yes, if you have to be angry, it should be at that. Ideally you shouldn't be angry at all, and simply accept what is and can't be changed, and move on.
Besides, you don't really have to react fast in Nightmare, as much as you need to know the encounter and plan ahead.
I like it. Gives you something to fight for while you're being massacred by everyone.
Play on casual, get the basics down, then do a run on normal, then a run on hard, then a run on nightmare.... easiest way to build up skill.
Plus for the harvester in origins, roll a dps mage, there is a corner where nothing will attack you if you run to it. You can launch major AOE attacks from it, but any other spell you have to pop out into danger, but keep doing that and it will go down.... takes a while though
