I'm very disappointed with the lesbian romance options in this game. You have either Joffrey from Game of Thrones or a boring politician with the personality of a wet mop.  Is this what Bioware thinks of lesbians? They're ugly and butch or if they're pretty they have no personality. I thought Bioware prided itself on equality instead of the cliche lesbian tropes that we're offered.

And while we're on the subject of women, why are all the women dressed like they're ready for a convent.  There's nothing wrong with a strong beautiful woman who's not afraid to show she's also sexy. There is definitely a strong gender bias, misrepresentation and hatred towards women in this game, lesbians especially. I expected better from a company that claims to care about equality.

Not sure if troll or not :S

I mean I'm totally with you on the aspects of character looks and fashion sense. But considering how the other thread about aesthetics currently on p1 turned out, be prepared to be called "typical straight white male" for mentioning it. >.> Apparently it's misogynistic to ask for better looks, but it's also misogynistic to provide 'plain' looks...

Oh, right, my standard answer:

It isn't BioWare's job to make characters that you find sexually attractive. They don't make romance options for people. It's a video game telling a story with fictional characters that contains romantic subplots.

So, we're supposed to like sexually repulsive characters in video games?

Sigh, I will never understand why people feel the need to point out to gamers that they're playing a game.

If you have to go so far as to use the word "repulsive," you have only yourself to blame for purchasing the game in the first place.

So, I'm not supposed to like "attractive" or "repulsive". But, I'm supposed to like "meh"?

i think the options are amazing. I don't see how Sera is Butch, and as a Butch lesbian I find this quite insulting. They are dressed that way because they are shown as people, and as much as I love Sera I am chomping at the bit to be with Josephine. Sera is funny and a whole bunch of fun but Josephine is kind and has her own witt. Every game shows women more as objects of which no one would actually dress like in combat. That is not convent clothes, that's warrior clothes.

As far as lesbian tropes I don't know a sinle one. Josephine is Bisexual, but Sera is a funny rude, and crude tomboy neither Butch nor femme who is a champion of the people well...sorta. lol. I have never seen more respect or care go into any lesbian character or women in general. This game i think is a step forward for LGBT gamers as a whole.

I don't think you're "supposed" to like anyone. The goal of the game isn't romance. It's an optional sidequest at best.

You keep claiming that I'm telling you what you should or shouldn't like. I have done nothing of the sort.

I'm telling you that if you buy something that know you don't like, you have only yourself to blame.

Right back at you. It's a GAME, and a fantasy RPG at that, so if people want to RP a romance that's well within their rights. Besides, I don't think many people actually manage to fulfill their *sexual* desires; it's more about enjoying romantic fantasies, comparable to the fantasy that takes place in your head when you read a romantic book.

And while I agree that personalities ARE more important than looks (blegh, I detest actually having to write that), I doubt a romantic book or movie would be very successful with an entirely plain-looking cast.

Romance is a huge factor in Bioware games and a big selling point. You find attractive women in the highest selling games like Mass Effect, DOA, Street Fighter, FF, Tomb Raider, etc.

Personally I love Sera and Josephine both in looks and personality? At least what little I've gotten to see due to the font being readable only by ants.

Ugly? Really?

Man, with such high stdnards of "beauty" for women among people (lesbian or not, women or men etc) I sometimes wonder if not-Barbie-like women should even exist. Maybe people like me without featureless "beauty" are too "ugly" to be represented in art and crafts and anywhere

Now excuse me while me and other actually-looking-like-real-people-and-not-dolls women hide in the Pit of Shame to never scare you guys

Don't even bother Jeremiah, it's not worth it.

Some people just care way too much for romances in BW games and are enraged when said romances aren't tailored to their specific desires.

At least you're the only person in the the thread to give a serious response although I disagree with you. I find the lesbian characters in this game to be stereotypical lesbian characters. Sera is the typical ugly one who's comedy act is supposed to show her personality is better. And Josephine is the typical pretty girl so she has no personality what so ever.
