Lesbian romance options are terrible.

At least you're the only person in the the thread to give a serious response although I disagree with you. I find the lesbian characters in this game to be stereotypical lesbian characters. Sera is the typical ugly one who's comedy act is supposed to show her personality is better. And Josephine is the typical pretty girl so she has no personality what so ever.

This thread doesn't come off as very serious to me. Your overreliance on hyperbole to try and get your points across make it seem like a troll thread and thus difficult to take seriously, especially since you unduly brought a sensitive issue into it. Accusations of "gender bias" and "hatred of women" are too serious to just throw around without substantial evidence to back them up. This kind of thing happens far too often and it's why a lot of people roll their eyes when such accusations are made regardless of if evidence supports them or not.

What you're really trying to say is that you're disappointed in the lesbian romances because you don't personally find Sera or Josephine attractive or interesting, and you're disappointed in the prudish dress these characters wear. Temper your personal opinions and people will be more willing to discuss things with you "seriously" instead of roll their eyes.

And once again it becomes painfully obvious why not planning for mods was a terrible idea. Everybody could have been happy. =(

To be fair, i was more dissapointed that Sera was "anti-dalish/elfy"

For my pro elf save state i wanted to play a dalish elf hooking up with an elf. I guess i have to just win her heart... haha she seems fun though, very different than other dragon age characters

Sounds like Sera isn't as bad as I thought. Good of her to recognize the Dalish as an evolutionary dead-end.

So, we're supposed to like sexually repulsive characters in video games?

We're supposed to react differently to those characters, according to our personnalities. My main Shepard, the one I played "let's pretend it's me" never had an affair with any character in all three ME games, because none of them would interest me. That's not anyone's fault, a lot of people found those characters interesting and attractive, not me. No big deal.

Well, both lesbian sex options are pretty ugly. I wouldn't tap them either if I was a girl.

As a young, black lesbian trapped in a middle-aged, white man's body, I take offense to this whole thread.

Oh, and my first playthrough is as a Dalish, Female Rogue, who will stop at nothing to build the Inquisition, even if it means flirting with, and screwing, every potential LI, NPC, and Nug along the way.  For Thedas, bitches!

I had a "loner" play-thru of the ME Trilogy. I actually wished EDI was a romance option. But, I did find all female romance characters to be attractive (including Tali).

What type of character would you like to romance, then? Do you have an example from a game?

So far the only Bioware romance I did no initiate only to see how it went was Morrigan's. The actual look of the character had nothing to do with it though (video game character bodies and faces are too generic for me). I blame Claudia Black, she has the power of the voice :-) .

The thing about Morrigan is that her romance wasn't just a sideshow like romances in Mass Effect. This is true of Alistair as well, and Bastila and Carth in KOTOR for that matter. They factored into and were part of the larger story, so there was more motivation (for me at least) to take part in them. Mass Effect's romances (and seemingly every Bioware game after DA:O) were more self-contained and served little purpose other than to tickle the player's fancy. This is why I also did several romanceless playthroughs of ME because there was just nothing of substance to be had from them short of a booty call.

If it helps at all the heteronormative options are also terrible.

I'd rather hook up with my horse.

Christ even Zevran would be better than the way the options in DA:I seem to be playing out so far, he was a horrible little man **** but....he was at least charming.

Actually I might go so far as to say even Ander's would be more charming and interesting than whats on the table. Fenris and his "Crawling In My Skin" rage music emo boy personality would be better.

I suppose if I played the game from a male perspective Vivienne might be slightly attractive...if she had hair.....if you run with helmets off Vivienne is kind of a gigantic and prevalent display of how flat the heads are in the DA:I character system. Cassandra probably has a certain charm as an extremely competent warrior and a middle aged woman who is still attractive despite her years (given discussions with her based on her life story that shes shared, Cassandra is at least 40 years old at this point.)..but even those two options don't seem like they'd cause heart flutters.

You keep claiming that I'm telling you what you should or shouldn't like. I have done nothing of the sort.

I'm telling you that if you buy something that know you don't like, you have only yourself to blame.

Nut you don't know until you play the game. Duhh..

Just be thankful that they are ****** Only options (i think its awesome) other than pansexual to give realism, also be thankful that DA:I romance options arent cookie cutter same options as DA:O

This game feels like the companions are actually unique..

greengoron89's point was solid though, DA:O romances (morrigan/alistar) had main story motives, but ME and DA2/I are just side stories. Maybe they did it so everyone didnt pick one or 2 characters on the first playthrough, but still.

Ugly? Really?

Man, with such high stdnards of "beauty" for women among people (lesbian or not, women or men etc) I sometimes wonder if not-Barbie-like women should even exist. Maybe people like me without featureless "beauty" are too "ugly" to be represented in art and crafts and anywhere

Now excuse me while me and other actually-looking-like-real-people-and-not-dolls women hide in the Pit of Shame to never scare you guys

Hmmm...

I think they meant "they are not my type".

But you must agree that some of the cut scene movement animations (Not the CGI movie like ones) are somewhat lacking. I actually expected that these scenes, say like walking, idle standing, conversational postures, etc..would be (part of the Motion Capture budget) and therefore, natural looking.  Why else pay to have Motion Capture? Oh, maybe Motion capture is only for combat scenes.. they do look awesome, yes?

As to faces, well maybe the budget was running low. Leliana looks different (older and experienced with the world?), Cassandra is older than at Kirkwall. The scar was unnecessary, but maybe adds to her character. Sarah, to me. has a big mouth. Hair styles? Well, my dad use to tell me that in his times, they just put a bowl over your head and cut what they saw.  It's an easy low maintenace solution for front line troops.

As to the lack of "beautiful"  people, well, that's what MODDING is all about.

Quietly the scotish geeky lesbian watches she waits for the enevitable homophobic remark.
