This game is so gender confused that it thinks my male character is female! Everyone in the game refers to my character as a woman, and he's being treated as a woman as far as romances go. BioWare, I hope pandering this far to the tumblr warriors pays off for you.

 

 

Okay, okay, obviously this is a nasty bug. I'm playing the PC version. Is there a way to fix this, or will I have to start over? Will there be a patch that can fix this in the future? I hate this. It's dumb, and it's ruining the experience for me. Please help.

Starting over is the only way to fix it right now.  Tabbing between male and female seems to prevent it, they do know about it though and are planning on fixing it

Thanks for the response! Has there been any word on whether or not a patch will fix saves retroactively, or should I just cut my losses and restart now? I'm 18 hours into the game and it would suck to have to start over.

For now, restart. It's likely going To be adressed in the patch, since they're aware of it.

18 hours into a potientially 90+ hour game, I would say you are still fairly early on. With that being said, I would just cut your losses and restart. It is better to start over 18 hours in rather than getting to the 50 hour mark and deciding that you can no longer take this and want to restart. Again, restarting at 18 is painful, but restarting at 40, 50, or even 60 hours in is even more painful.

If I were to start over, is there a guaranteed way of avoiding this bug? I'd hate to leave it to chance after spending a lot of time in the character creator.

What do you mean with tabbing? Switching betwen male and female before picking?

Just to be clear: people are having success preventing this bug by switching between the male and female options at the character selection cards, then selecting their desired gender.

This has nothing to do with BW "pandering" to anyone. BW has had male/female options for a long time. This is just a bug, albeit a very annoying one.

They haven't said, but I'd think that the patch would fix any current games.  However, it could screw stuff up too, because someone who got the bug was saying it was letting their male flirt with and go down the path of romancing sera.  So the patch would change that, which might have adverse affects.

I wonder, have they ever thought that hey, maybe this is a bit like being a female player, that are so incredibly bored with the gaming worlds obsession with male leads.

 

Reminds me of Saints Row 3 and in a few cases even if you choose to play as female some npcs took you for a dude. I even brought it up once and was quickly shot down, I mean how dare I? Children in poor counties are starving, and here I am whining about some gender mismatch. Oh, I also should know that gender does not really matter, unless this happens to dudes of course.

90% of the websites im on don't know my gender. I like to think its better that way

There's just as many dudes who choose to play female characters, well more really because there are no doubt more male gamers overall.

 

Some NPC's in Saints Row probably took you for a dude, or an alien, or a hermaphrodite, that game is so stupid I probably wouldn't have noticed.

When I read your comment I couldn't help but laugh. Take advantage of this and romance Sera or Culllen. JK  I accidentally flirted with Cullen with my Qunari male because I didn't see that it was a flirt options since I pressed the number key. His awkward response was priceless.

This all started when you could romance Juhani as a girl in KOTOR. This of course led to Anders forcing straight men to romance him him Dragon Age 2.  Now look, Bioware is changing the player's gender! I cry for straight people everywhere.

How in God's name did they not find this bug. Did all the playtesters happen to TAB between the gender choices every time they tried a new character? I'm assuming there was playtesting done at the moment, sure doesn't feel like it.

Are you sure it's just that you still have the option to 'flirt' with Sera, but once you do, it will obviously not come off? Ok never mind I just started romancing Dorian and he referred to me as a man and it's working. Phew.
