Archery rogue is a million piles of fun. Starts off slow, but once you get to level 8-ish you can one-shot enemy mages and deliver some truly sick DPS. It's a vast improvement from the other games.

I also love being a Necromancer/Pyro mage. The two trees go well together--one makes you panic, the other makes you take more damage if you're panicking.

Rogue Archer Assassin is pretty boss in terms of DPS.

Tried Tempest Rogue and Lightning Flask is cool, too.

Elemental Mages are great fun as well, in terms of seeing great graphics on screen all the time. In particular, Fire and Ice elements look great.

On easier difficulties I'd say a 2h Warrior is the most fun.  You just run in, block/counter, smash, grappling Chain archers.  You're just throwing bodies around and annihilating things.

On Nightmare difficulty, where tactics and planning shine over brute-force, I'd say the Dagger Rogue is the most fun.  You Stealth and scout the area, deciding which targets need to be eliminated first, then when the rest of your army engages you keep jumping into and out of the shadows, incapacitating/killing ranged targets/casters, burning down the biggest threats with insane burst.  You get to be all over the battlefield like a Ninja.

Mage is the best in this game. They can solo Dragon and final boss with ease.

Best meelee class: Knight Enchanter Mage.

Best ranged class: Rift Mage

At what level can you start specializing?  I think I'm level 10 now and am still just a "mage".

You can spec after you get to skyhold. There is an operation to bring in personal trainers on your war table.

Most fun to me means: when I play well, I do well. When I play poorly, I do poorly.

(So I don't find KE fun, even though it can solo everything with one or two buttons.)

So far I find Rogue most fun, followed by Rift Mage. Didn't really try out warriors yet.

Rogue is quite fun because it requires constant awareness. I find that playing Rogue on Hard in 95% action mode is the most fun for me.

#magesuperiority.

#nonmagesaretrivial.

#dealwithit.

Honestly, its true.

Knight Enchanter allows you to not die and deal insane damage.

Rift Mage allows you to deal insane damage with little to no cooldown.

Necromancer allows you to DOT the heck out of enemies and you get a nice pet as well.

I want you to explain me how to make Rift Mage a DPS class... as of now it seems warriors & rogues outdamage by a large margin...

I tried a duel wielding rogue as my first toon on this but they just don't seem the same compared to D:O or DII. so after about 13 hours in I switched to a sword and shield warrior and boy am I in love. 45 hours of gameplay and seeing Sera with the bow has given me thought that this game just might have the best archery build for a rogue. I've been waiting for a great archer build in Dragon Age and I think this one just might be the one.

Rogue Archer Tempest.
Ranged, high DPS, high survivability, crazy time slowdowns and free Focus ability every 30 seconds. Total badassery.

It's a damage class because of how one of its passives, Restorative Veil, restores mana through damage. The more damage you do to weakened enemies (you have 3 skills that weaken enemies), the more mana you get back. And the more mana you have (plus reduced cooldowns with other passives) the more spells you cast.

So basically you CC enemies and then cast spells almost nonstop while they're immobilized or at least doing reduced damage. For fun, you can even Impact detonate your paralyze and freeze statuses.

Having a blast as an Assassin specialized archer after initially beginning the game using dual wield. One-shotting enemy mages or archers never gets old.

I'm told by a close friend that Knight Enchanter is very fun, too.

I've only played one class so far, but from switching between companions I have to say that all classes seem really fun.

I would say palying a S&S tank. A SS tank seems the easist type for the AI to play by itself. That will allow you to try out all the other characters builds easily by operating the companions, without worrying about micro managing the inquisitor all the time.

Fun =/= Overpowered

At least, that's the case for me. In fact, I always hate, and thus shy away, from OP classes. The lack of challenge takes away all the fun I have. For me the most fun class are both warrior archetypes until now. Very active, you get punished when you are not paying attention (especially with a 2h Warrior, where Block & Slash is adamant on Hard/Nightmare) and it feels very heavy, without being OP.

Hey

I'm usally picking the warrior in all games i play, but in DA:I they run so weird in combat with the weap :/ and i also made a archer to try and that was pretty fun aswell, but i dono what to pick, What class does the most dmg/takes the less dmg and just wrecks stuff?

create a two handed warrior then you'll have a mage/archer/tank as team mates, where you'll be able to play as them on the fly,

that way you should know whats more fun for you.

I'm loving my Reaver.  Takes a bit of practice to manage your HP effectively, and you need to invest in your potions and some %heal on kill items, but it's a ton of fun and an absolutely savage class to play as.

Probably Knight Enchanter with fade step it feels like a Vanguard in Mass effect which for me is a good thing. Also the only class in game lets go pew pew pew and smash smash smash in the same build.Everybody esle has to pick to be range or melee

I love the dw rogue simply because although he's melee (which i usually hate because in DA:O and DA2 I just didn't like how much running around you had to do, with the free/no cd jump to skill I've fallen in love with them. I also really enjoy the archer because of the shooting while moving and kiting ability as well as the rift mage due to the massive cc and weaken utility of them. I'm not very keen on the KE simply because it makes things too easy and I find the warriors kind of boring.

DW Rogue Assassin is my favorite so far, but admittedly I've only played in like, 3 classes for more than just an hour or two: DW Rogue, Archer Rogue, 2-handed warrior.

2-Handed warrior is a challenge for sure, but it's clunky, and in many ways inferior to S&S among other classes. If they fixed the bugged detonations, made block and slash less clunky and stamina thirsty (I wouldn't mind dealing less damage for costing less stamina...) then it might be more worth playing. Reaver+2H does loads of damage, it's nice to do 1000+ damage with every attack at like level 12, but then you realize that the gameplay is very simple, walk up to enemy, attack 3-4 times with dragon rage, then devour, rinse and repeat, no flanking or positioning needed (unlike DW rogue).

Archer just isn't my thing. It's strong as heck, feels like playing the game on easy mode, especially if you have like, S&S warrior tank and 2 mages or mage+archer for a party. It is however, nice to be able to attack without frustratingly have my attacks/abilities miss due to terrain or something stupid like that.

DW Rogue just hit the spot for me, especially after level 12 or so. Early on its kinda miserable, barely do more damage than a warrior even when flanking, and still are super squishy and melee. However once you get decent gear it's pretty fun. I really liked assassin too mainly for it's stealth interactions, i.e. refresh stealth cooldown on kill and auto crit for first attack out of stealth. The hidden blades and mark of death are definitely strong, but obviously not that interactive or fun. Useful for boss/lieutenant fights though for sure. It's just fun darting around in and out of stealth though.

Next playthrough will definitely be a mage. Probably all-out DPS mage, rush down fire and lightning tress for fire mine and then static cage for maximum damage potential, then probably spec out as a rift mage for the mana regen+quasi-singularity for aoe damage combos. I'll probably take Dorian, Varric, and Cassandra as a party, maybe Iron Bull respecced as a S&S tank.
