...how do you feel about DA:I?

My story with Dragon Age: Origins is fairly simple. I brought it out-of-the-blue based purely on the fact it was a Bioware game in the same vein as Mass Effect. I absolutely loved it; the music, the characters, the story...but I never completed it.  Just never got around to it, despite a few attempts over the years to finish it. I will get around to it eventually but, as I said, I found Origins to be really, really good.

I never brought Dragon Age II because of that, and because I heard it was a load of rubbish/a huge disappointment.

So far, I really like DA:I, although I'm a bit lost with the story at the moment (I understand the ongoing situation, but it's just gaining an understanding of the factions etc again). One dialogue situation in particularly threw me off very early on (Leliana talking to a friend about someone. There's three choices, but the whole thing came from no where with no context...unless my game bugged on dialogue). That said, it's looking good. Not sure about combat. I'm thinking I much prefer Origins in this regard. I'm disappointing you can't put points into your attributes and the skill tree doesn't seem as "in-depth". I miss the tactics as well (and find the tactical view just to be extremely clunky. Definitely designed for console in this aspect).

Otherwise, game looks really good. Just interested in hearing what more faithful Origin/DA fans have to say. :)

I'm mostly enjoying playing DAI; but I really, really miss the "story" feel from DAO. Even DA2 had a "story" feel, although not as good as DAO.

I liked being able to chat with my party members at any time. However in DAI, I have to go to a specific place to do so. I also miss being able to explore the open world of Dragon Age where the baddies are appropriately adjusted to your level (a.k.a., how was I supposed to know those rift creatures were 6 levels above me?).

In DAI it seems like I have to play through a lot of stuff to get "rewarded" more story content/cutscenes.

But hey, at least in DAI, I can finally romance Cullen ;)

I actually preferred the mechanics of DA2, being a console player, but DAO has a feeling or mood that sets it apart for me. It's graphics and gameplay are pretty crappy, in my opinion, but it's still one of my very favorite games.

I enjoyed DA2 as a story set in Thedas, but I'm definitely hoping DAI sets a mood as well as DAO. Even after about 15 hours, I feel like I'm too early in the story to judge. I'm really enjoying it so far, though, and get the sense that it's about to take off. If it creates a feeling anywhere near as compelling as the story of the Wardens and the darkspawn, it will be epic.

The heavy-handed story of DAO was, I think, the weakest part of the game. Inquisition takes that away, and Inquisition is very good.

The mechanics are bad, and made worse by the lack of documentation, and the controls need work, but much of the game is terrific.

I loved DAO, and loathed DA2, and so far Inquisition falls strongly on the DAO side of things.

I preferred DAO's combat by far.  I absolutely do not like this potion-chugging thing Bioware is on.

I also do not like the respawn rate of enemies and resources.

DAI is a decent game and by far not a bad game. I am enjoying it for what it was, but I was expecting more after the **** up of Dragon Age 2. I despise, despise with a passion DA2. That game is an abomination that needs to be thrown into the pits of hell. My personal opinion.

You know if DAI came out after DAO and Awakening I would have had less expectations for the next Dragon Age title. DAI didn't meet all my expectations, but didn't break anything by doing so either.

It's a decent enough game. I just wish they would have done some fixes to it, especially those side quest. By god those side quest are torture, tedious tedious torture..

On my own personal scale (I consider 5 to be an average quality game)-

DAO: 8/10

DA2: 4/10

DAI: 7/10

DAO gets extra points just because it was moddable.  If they fix the problems with the tactical cam in DAI, I would easily place it as high or higher than DAO.

Edit: About the side quest, I just do them until I get bored of them and then progress the story.  Then once I get bored of linear dungeons and sitting around watching cut scenes, I go back and do some exploring and side questing.  I really really like that I have the option to do both in DAI.

How dare you not finish Origins? It's my favorite Bioware game, though I haven't played Inquisition. Go finish it now!

Honestly? So far, it's a tie. That unexplainable *feeling* -- you know, the one people have for Origins? -- hits me over and over again. I am so happy.

Very different games in the end. This is more of an action game. I like it, but I wish it was more like Origins because I have a ton of action games already.

If you want more like Origins I would suggest the string of indie RPGs coming out like Shadowrun Returns: Dragonfall or Wasteland 2. Those are going to be more like Origins. Pillars of Eternity will likely be the most similar, since it will be real-time with pause combat.

I'll always prefer Origins because it was built as a Tactical, PC RPG -- Inquisition is built as a console, Action RPG.

I still enjoy Inquisition for what it is, but I'm already craving something with a little more substance, so as soon as I'm done with it I'll be heading back to Origins for my 8th play-through.

Hands down my favorite Dragon Age game.

The combat is fast and fun to watch.  The characters are expertly written and performed.

There's just a stupid amount of content.  As if someone decided to build an single player MMO.

I am loving every second of it and am grateful for the obvious care Bioware put into the product.

It may not be Origins, but it's doing it's own thing and frankly, I'm impressed as hell.

So far I'm 15 hours in and there are some things that are better and some things worse.

I'm really loving the cinematic aspect (there's an awesome cutscene with Leliana about 8 hours in... wowzers) but at the same time I do dislike the lack of customisation in characters (stat points, skill tree, inventory etc).

If one could take DAI and outfit with the more advanced aspects of DAO then I don't think I'd ever remove my posterior from my cushioned seat.

For those who say they prefer DAO's combat, are you PC players? I'm a console player and Inquisition's combat is really hitting it out of the park for me.

I know that might be a touchy subject atm with all the talk of the consolization of the controls, but really the opposite was true in Origins (console combat was a mess) as well, so I'm hoping people can love Inquisition in spite of that like I love Origins.

In particular the difference between playing a 2H warrior in Origins and Inquisition is like night and day. Origins warrior was about the most boring combat I've experienced whereas Inquisition nails it. For anyone wanting to play 2H Warrior: GET BLOCK AND SLASH. That ability alone has made me grin innumerable times this game. The sound that your sword makes when you parry a heavy attack from an enemy...I can almost FEEL it vibrating in my character's hands.

Thus far the story is also much better than Origins. It has a clear thematic focus on faith and belief and is pulling this off amazingly well. The game presents you with many different ways to react to your new status as messiah, and some of your companions have profound and mature insight to offer on the subject. I don't even want to get into how quickly my opinion of Cassandra changed in this game once I arrived at Skyhold.

I'm sure controls have some to do with it but they are two different types of game. Origins and DA:2 were tactical RPGs, where Inquisition is more of an action RPG. I wanted the former because that's what this series was. I would love to hear the devs explain why they went this way. There are several action RPGs out right now if you want that. I want my tactics back!

Still, the game looks good and I'm sure I'll get it eventually.

Most people probably didn't watch the streams. I shouldn't have to to know a game feature that should be explained in game. It isn't intuitive to have to switch to a different mode to see it, especially not when it controls so poorly from what I've heard that many won't use it.

It's more action RPG. I'd say Inquisition is more tactical than DA2 but not to the level of extent as Origins was.

Regarding leveling up and attribute, I really like the idea that they associate stats with skills. Like training certain skills will increase your stats accordingly.

Although some may feel that this removes the old rpg freedom, I applaud this change. It make sense! How can someone who trains with a maul have higher... dex than str or a mage that is "healthier/beefier" than a warrior.  :P
