I think story, content, presentation is terrific in DAO, even if it takes a while to pick up.

However, controls are sub-par and -- worst of all -- part AI really bites. It just does not work very well to have an "action-oriented" group rpg if your group members are simply not capable of handling their skills.

I simply do not understand why BioWare pours endless ressources in more and more content, decoration, style, mounts, top-class animations, but then screws up for the basic combat control -- especially since they got it right before.
Couldn't they simply use the old code and adapt it for DAI?

But despite the control/ai problems, I still enjoy the game immensely!

DAO was far from perfect, as some want to make it. Combat was rather unbalanced in part, and I see why they took healing out, DAO did teach them why.

What does this mean? And why would combat need to be "balanced" in a single player RPG? I'm assuming you mean between classes.

DAO was awesome in just about every possible way, it was epic and one of the greatest RPGs of all time.  DA2 was a step backward, and now DAI is a HUGE step forward, it's by far the Game of the Year, and the greatest game in Bioware history.  No reason to like one and not like the other, both are epically awesome, and no doubt the vast majority of people who have played both absolutely love both, as it should be!

To all those that say they've spent 30 hours in DAI and don't like the combat, at least give it a while to grow on you.  I'm the same , but will give it a chance.

My ratings so far:

DAO: 9.5 (the 2nd best ever for it's time after diablo 1 => townkill+autokill+pking ftw)

DA2:  7 (a good game in itself, but could never compare to Origins, and loses .5 because you had to put up with Anders' personality & hitting on you)

DAI:   7+ so far. I'm going to give it a while to grow on me before I decide. It's good, and better than DA2, but I haven't spent enough time to love it yet.

I must say it is a game on an epic scale, though I miss the massive number of spells of DAO, stats you can level up(!), and 15 line epic complicated tactics to tinker with(!!), no weapon switching, and other things, also what's up with my heroic characters having 500 hp, but opponent mobs having 2000. Lots of great new things to appreciate though. Guard is a good idea, powerups on skills, endless diversions, exp grinding, no obvious exploits like 100 health potion god mode, the word "valuables" instead of "junk"...

Anyway, I know that I will love this game, I have let my expectations of a revamped DAO go, and am ready to accept this game on it's own merits.
