Lets not beat around the bush here: Dragon Age games are supposed to be sexy. They're really the only non-anime themed name in sexy fantasy. Consistantly and right from the start, both Dragon Age: Origins and even it's regretable follow-up have represented as darn sexy games.
I agree that this was one of the many aspects of DA1 and DA2's charm, and the lack of it is a serious oversight.
In general, this barely even feels like an RPG. Gear is so stripped down it is sad. And the fact that you can't take it OFF is disappointing.
This game needs mods worse than ever, and sadly it is the game least suited to it technically. ![]()
Wow....just....wow...
Sadly that seems to be the utterly American way of looking at life:

The reason for this is violence is an illustration. You're not motived to kill someone if you see someone get killed (especially if it's fiction).
Nipples are "titillating" (ie., a temptation). Temptations can lead to lust which could have devastating consequences for kids.
The characters look like dogs in DAI anyway, so I would like to avoid seeing them naked, if at all possible. A more appropriate name for the game would have been 'Dragon face ugly'. ![]()

We do realize guys have nipples too, right?
I can't say nipples have given me any lady boners.
Indeed -- just to underline it again since some people don't seem to get it: Personalities are great and (I think unarguably) the most important characteristic of NPC companions, BUT is it really too much to ask for a little prettiness too? There's a big "AND" in there, not an "OR" as some posters try to insinuate.

You dam right.
Lets not beat around the bush here: Dragon Age games are supposed to be sexy. They're really the only non-anime themed name in sexy fantasy. Consistantly and right from the start, both Dragon Age: Origins and even it's regretable follow-up have represented as darn sexy games. You could even have silly fun with that sexy nature; like getting you and your entire temporary party naked, for no other reason than wanting too. That, oddly and perhaps to my discredit, was what sold me on DA:O when I first started playing it... there I am, some young noble fighting with his mother to defend the house from invading forces, and I was able to say 'screw it, lets all get naked', and strip the family down to the gitch. Awesome.
In this game, it's impossible to get naked. Or half naked. Or a third naked. Or even show a little bloody ankle. Strip your character down, and what do you get? Some full-bodied undergarment as if not more cumbersome than whatever piece of cumbersome armor you were just wearing. Seriously, wtf? When was Bioware castrated to the point that "No, no... underwear is too risque.... lets give them grandma's chastity-guarding sleep-wear." seemed like a good idea?!
Guys, come the hell on. Underwear patch please. Underwear patch NOW.
Its in the Moders hands now...
Su must look bad in underwear.
Thank you - I am still cracking up with laughter (I am home from trade-school today as I am not feeling well - got inner-ear-pressure on one side (it's probably infected on the inside - again...chronic illness that runs in the family) and can't hear much with that ear at the moment..funnily it does not react at all to pressure applied from the outside...and no, washing it out does not help (I clean my ears often - don't want to have more problems than what I already have)...so this was really something I needed!)
greetings LAX
ps: I agree with the OP - a character that's stripped if his/her armor should either be in underware (if you are a prude) or fully naked (!)

No, that's what YOU want Dragon age to be.
DA:I is supposed to be a role playing game.
Sad that "role-playing game" is now used as an excuse to justify useless demands like these.
To be honest, I have a <Arishok voice> deminishing lack of disgust </voice> of a- the intolerance and b- the hypocrisy of such statements. No, that's what YOU want Dragon age to be.
Sad that "role-playing game" is now used as an excuse to justify useless demands like these.
While you rightly point out that ANYBODY's opinions and wishes are subjective, your statement that the ones you take exception at are 'useless' blatantly excuses yourself from that rule.
Tell me what purpose I the game would make underwear as opposed to some casual clothes ?
What benefits would it bring to the table ?
So yes I maintain it is useless, because it simply has no use, now you can very well want that, not problem, but attack the nature of DAI being a role-playing game just because of that is really pushing it.
Throwing in a liberal application of implied 'nerd shaming' ("sad", you somehow managed to omit "get a life") is just the icing on the cake.
"implied nerd-shaming"
I loled
They are attractive AND have personalities, as many people have insisted already, in spite of another faction insisting they are ugly because they don't suit their tastes. And yes, it's taste. Some prefer blondes, others prefer brunettes, etc.
The problem is that you don't think they are and apparently this is considered a factual statement. And quite frankly we're not going to get a consensus regardless of how many of these threads pop up and how hard people whine. Ultimately, the character designers will draw what they consider attractive and suitable to the character and the story they're presented in - and they ought to, since that's their job, and you're not going to please everyone. Not even close.
Kid go play hentai then if this is all you expect from some game ![]()
Error: does not compute. They are attractive AND have personalities, as many people have insisted already. [...] apparently this [me: i.e., the opposite opinion] is considered a factual statement.
That is somewhat true. Yet I believe/hope that just like Bioware changed their design/writing/... policies in their past, e.g. w.r.t. same-sex relationships, we will ultimately arrive at some sort of natural balance where everybody can find *something/somebody* to hang onto. Pointing out areas of improvement is helpful and not necessarily whining in this regard. And quite frankly we're not going to get a consensus regardless of how many of these threads pop up and how hard people whine. I can't say I'm surprised "your opinion is wrong" doesn't compute.
"They're not pretty enough" does strike me as whining. Hell, they've been outright insulted. Telling a designer "I don't wanna ****** to the character you designed, ergo, this is a problem" doesn't strike me as particularly constructive or even redeeming to anything actually important to the game. It's also something I'm sure people will just mod in - "replace Cassandra with Mila Kunis in lingerie" mod.
Have at it, I guess.
Well, to elaborate: I do not understand how you criticise others for allegedly painting their personal opinions as universal fact, while you do the exact same in almost the same sentence.
And again, I don't know why you (and others) keep doing this, but you are reducing my (our?) position to 'oh you just want to f@p at pixels on screen'. No. I have stated numerous times that I would like a combination of intellectual, emotional, AND physical attractiveness -- and yeah, every single one of them is subjective. For me, checkboxes one and two are checked (would be shocked if they weren't in a Bioware game!), but third isn't (except for Vivienne, but she's not romanceable, sadly). For you it is, great. Voice your opinion, but don't demean your peers for not feeling like you do.
Hm, coming back from a stint in Thedas, I have to say that I quite like Scout Captain Harding. A shame her part is so minor, but I like her valor, her initiative, AND *gasp* she has a rather pretty, if a bit 'dwarven', face. Pretty eyes too!
Scout Captain Harding for romance, pls.
I wonder why warriors would like to run around in undies... ![]()
You just don't get the concept of choice. That would be your problem alone and as such perfectly fine -- if you didn't insist on forcing your worldview on others. That is inacceptable.
I get the concept of choice, I also get the concept if finite time and finite resources, and, as a result, the concept that the developping team has to make choices on what to do in that time and those resources.
And underwear is sooooo low on my list compare to things I actually want in a game.
And the cookie-cutter "it's RPG therefore it must have X" justification needs to die, seriously.
