I'm finding this game insanely frustrating on controls.

 

I'm literally at the start as a mage and was given some potions and told to drink one? I have no idea how to us them. I've been through every radial menu, option, forum, search, etc. imaginable. They are not listed in my inventory anywhere? There aren't in the radial menu?

 

Any idea how to actually drink one?

Click the left bumper. That opens a radial menu and the potion should be somewhere on there. It's also how to drink healing potions, summon your mount and issue some commands to the party.
