I'm playing nightmare for my first playthrough, and with my ice mage, alot of my attacks are 1 damage, is this normal in hinterlanmds?
I'll fight mobs where 2 enemies take normal damage, but another one wont (and he will even be a mage!) Is it merely the scaling?

Press T and review target resistances. Enemies basically have immunities on Nightmare.
Yes it's irritating as hell, esp since we can no longer switch weapons mid-combat.

Apostates in Hinterlands have frost resistances.
But in general, a lot less enemies have resistances/immunities now, than in DA2. It's mostly justifiable now, and not random - mages can be resistant to something, or demons (like rage demons to fire) - regular enemies far less so. Undead are immune to fear, stuff like that. Makes sense most of the time.
