Hi all, never played any of the first two games other than briefly. I went through keep so I have the basic story to date. Am I missing out on anything by just going with the default world though? its one thing to read through the story and another to have played it and made the choices along the way. thanks for any advice.

If you have zero knowledge the default will be fine. If you want some background The Keep should help you out.

The keep can help you out but it doesn't tell you the story behind the choices you make. Playing DA 1 & 2 as well as its expansion and DLC will make playing DA 3 a better experience in my opinion.
