Aerie

Dawn Star

Liara

Having a "good girl" LI option is more a return to Bioware's old ways.

Also, VIvienne tried to save her duke.  Otherwise why bother to send the Inquisitor to get that particular ingredient?  Any old heart would do.   Or even leave it out altogether.

Aeria has sex and can have a child. Liara is also available for sex. Don´t see how josephine fits into that mold.

My comment was in response to the assertion that all female LI's were in some way "dark" like Morrigan or Isabela.  Amoral or deeply flawed characters.  I was citing several examples of female love interests that fit the "good girl" trope.  More like Josephine.

And further down the page I did note that they did have sex, even mentioning that Aeirie could have a child.  Though there was no cinematic scene for it.  No pixel boobies that seem to define what  a "true" romanceis  now.

Well, I argue that it is near sunrise while that party is happening. It is the middle of th afternoon when Corypheus issues you a challenge by re-opening the Breach, yet it is late at night by the time you get there suggesting a travel time of a few to several hours.

The celebration isn't on the same day as the fight with Corypheus.

Keep in mind that this is a setting where people have to travel on foot, by horse or by a horse pulled cart. The setting for Doom Upon All the World is fairly distant from Skyhold, and there was no way the Inquisitor could have made it back on the same day. Also all those nobles (Leliana says every noble from Southern Thedas is there) and such had to travel from their home fiefdoms to Skyhold, some of which would probably have been much more than a day's travel away.

Ignoring that it can be taken multiple ways, that can also go under the player determining how physically intimate they are which was the writer's intent. She left it ambiguous on purpose so those who want to imagine them being lovers can and those who want to imagine them as not having sex for whatever reason can as well. So I'm not saying you are wrong, but actually that any interpretation is correct. It's like the Schrodinger's paradox of romances.

The way in which the Inquisitor & Josephine duck into the bedroom didn't seem too ambiguous to me. I thought it was all fairly suggestive. If that were in a movie rather than in a game where you decide the main character's actions, I'd take as an indication that the two characters were intimately involved.

Different people approach romantic advances differently.

Is this a revelation?

Also calling the same game that features breasts, ass, and BDSM a "prude-fest" is rather funny.

Ever seen the sex scenes from the witcher? Those are sex scenes. Bio Ware is pretty bad at it.

They tried to make them better in Inquisition and pretty much failed. Cassandra's was barely decent and Josephine didn't even had one (really? One of the only two attractive and romanceable women in the game didn't even get one?).

Thanks to Angry Joe's review (if I remember correctly) I also caught a glimpse at Sera's scene and it was weird and irritating (like her character the 90% of the time she's on screen). Iron Bull's was at least funny from what I saw.

The three people behind Josephine have all expressed they have no intention of adding a sex scene. The romance is written so that the level of physical intimacy is left purposefully ambiguous so the player can imagine what they want.

The celebration isn't on the same day as the fight with Corypheus.

Yet your group walks through the gates and you are debriefed while the party is happening. Overall I think maybe they made an oopsie about people far away getting there that soon, but it is definitely supposed to be when you get back. After all you already have lots of nobles and other people staying at Skyhold to represent themselves.

As I said, Team Josie left it ambiguous. The fact that you see it as implying they are lovers is valid, yet people like me not seeing it that way is also valid. But the writer said it wasn't suggestive, so that is where you are wrong. Any suggestiveness is in your own mind.

yeah I'm with you Bioware just doesn't know how to make good sex scenes CDPR is on a whole other level in that department

Cassandras is still ok but it was a huge disappointment that Josephine didn't have a real sex scene the romance felt too childish

..waiting for the anti-Witcher people..

So any relationship that doesn't have people having sex within the first few months of knowing each other let alone being a couple is childish to you? Especially since they can be that intimate if the player wishes but it just doesn't show anything?

no but you are missing the point this isn't real life

we can't just wait years for Josephine to get ready its only a romance in a game thats supposed to entertain not be realistic

they could have easily included a optional sex scene (where you can say if you are ready or not) but they chose not to for whatever reason

So? People in the game are like people in real life. There are heterosexuals, homosexuals, bisexuals, pansexuals. There are males, females, trans. There are people who are into casual sex and there are those who choose to wait.

As for being entertained, Josephine is my favorite romance in Bioware games in large part to there not being a sex scene. For years, with the exception of the chaste Sebastian, we've had it so sex is a mandatory part of the romance to continue it, either sleep with them or break up. Now we have someone who doesn't contain that ultimatum. If she had that ultimatum, this would be another game where the romance arcs would not entertain me but in fact depress me. So sorry if lack of a sex scene isn't entertaining for you, but you have other romances in DAI for that. Or just play the Witcher since you like those sex scenes more anyway.

And the lack of a sex scene meant they were able to show more of other aspects to a romantic relationship other than just sex. That was the reason they chose not to have one as optional.

so just because of the sex scenes you didn't enjoy the previous romances? you know you can just look away or

skip them right? I fail to see how it ruins the romance

and its not just casual sex or one night stand just like with the other romances in Bioware games you talk to them get to know them etc. and then have sex so they do actually wait

And yep thank god I have Cassandra but its still a shame they could have at least included a optional sex scene

We didn't even need nudity (although I prefer it no doubt)

It ruins my enjoyment of the romance because it ruins my character. I am not one who likes casual sex, in fact I am one who thinks that one should wait until after getting married to do have it. And since my characters tend to be self-inserts they do not either. The fact you can look away/turn off the screen/skip the scene/etc doesn't change the fact that the scene happens and thus to continue a romance I have to debase my character.

Well, sorry but I disagree on not having it be a shame. The shame is how it took them this long to do this. There's more to romance than sex, since sex isn't even a required part, so I'm glad they finally have a LI that focuses on those other parts.

yeah but what did you expect? there aren't many people out there who think one should wait to have sex until after the marriage so obviously they never made the romances that way just so a few can be happy

I wonder what changed their mind so suddenly

Even though I disagree with you on the sex part I respect your opinion I guess Cassandra is already awesome enough there is no need for Josephine or anyone else for that matter

But I really hope that if they go this road again that they at least have a optional sex scene that would satisfy everyone right?

1) This isn't Witcher.  This is Dragon Age.  As I bought Dragon Age and not Witcher, I couldn't give two spits for what some other game (in this case, this Witcher game) does.  Why bother buying Dragon Age if you expect it to be something else?  Just go buy the something else.

2) They're romance scenes, not sex scenes.  If the only thing that will satisfy you is pixelated T&A, I am sure you can find that in other corners of  the internet.  Knock yourself out.  Cassie's has some nudity, Josie's does not, and I thought each was done quite nicely for the character being romanced.

wow calm down I was already wondering where the anti witcher people would be

He just said that TW has better sex scenes and why shouldn't he buy the game? we are only talking about sex scenes here definitely not a deal breaker don't get so defensive

And since when can't games borrow ideas from others? Hell DA:I did it (Skyrim especially)

I expect them to try to please as many fans as possible rather than completely not care about one entire viewpoint for years. They finally have one that can at least be headcanoned like that with Josephine.

Well, for Josephine it was because Sylvia wanted to write something different since her last LI was Liara in ME3, which has the most erotic sex scene in the game. She wanted this time to focus on other aspects of a relationship.

That's fine if you disagree, and I appreciate you respecting my view on that at least. I think you are wrong, since for example asexuals can be in perfectly good relationships without ever having sex, but I respect your opinion.

Depends on the character and what would be the scene that gets cut for it really.

interesting didn't know that about the writer well hopefully for you (and others who prefer a romance without sex) future DA games will also have the possibility to do that (with also having a optional sex scene for folks like me)

And I don't know any asexuals in real life and I'm pretty sure that I have never seen one in a movie/Tv show/anime etc.

so I don't know their viewpoint but a relationship without sex is unimaginable for me at least probably

I'm not even going to click on that.  The Internet is a scary place...  There's not enough soap in the world to scrub that Garrus/Wrex pic out of my mind and that was probably pretty mild.
