Is there anyway at all to keep him from leaving? The special edition guide says nothing at about any of it. Even with romance, he still leaves. I've heard people say they got him to stay. if anyone has done this, please explain how?

Solas only stays if you can convince him to return to the Inquisition and atone for his crimes but it only happens if you have a high enough friendship rate.

Just finished it.

...

Is this a good place for me to start ranting about Solas?

I just finished the game (rushed through it^^) and I really doubt you can make Solas stay

He's a really important character and the way it ends , I think the Inquisition is the least of his problem.

To be honest I think the inquisitor is the least of his problems or concerns.

Wait. WHAT? I was under the impression there is a way to end the game with everyone still in the party!

Well, since Solas has been revealed to be the devious god that exiled all the elven gods, somehow i doubt it. Though, I remember reading some spoiler text about it being possible, so I dunno.

UUUURGH. I'm reading through a post I sent a reviewer. I pretty much asked him since he finished the game if it were possible to have all 9 companions and 3 advisers alive by end game. He said, yup, in his game, all 12 were alive.

I mean...I suppose, they are "alive"...but is it like FINAL ...like is it SET IN STONE that there is ABSOLUTELY NO FRIGGING WAY Solas will stay end-game?

I'm still in the middle of the game but like this bothers me so much.

To be fair, that's what the existing Dalish believe - and given that it's been proven time in and time out that their lore is piecemeal at best I really can't put much stock into their views in regards to the actual truth. If you've ever played telephone, you know how hard it is to keep information straight - even if it's only a few minutes. Now add in over a thousand years, slavery, destruction of their entire culture not once but twice, the rest of the survivors now scattered to the four winds or in alienages, and you get one hell of a mess. In the Dalish Origin for Origins they didn't even know that Dwarves apparently traded with elves, and that temple in the Brecellian forest played host to all races which everyone found surprising as well.

According to the word of god aka Mr Weekes, the answer is no. Not possible.
So, now we know! Which for story reasons, makes more sense.

I think you should clarify what do you exactly mean by 'end-game' here. If it's "up to the point that the final boss is defeated, the main story is resolved and we throw a big party for our heroes" then yes, Solas will stay. If it's "any post-game or missed content after that" then no, Solas will leave the party.

It would fit in with DA's theme of good intentions having awful consequences.
