Anyone else re roll to a Ranger or Mage after a few hours on a Warrior or Rogue? I been questing in the Hinterlands for over 10 hours and gathered a lot of mats but can't stand my Inquisitor just swinging at nothing every battle. Every Battle I control him....

I hate the fact they made this more like Skyrim and less like Origins. Hate with a passion. Haven't followed the main story at all cause there is just stuff popping up all over to do like stupid Skyrim. F Skyrim. I wanted to play a Dragon Age title!

Use tactical camera, they will autoattack and follow the enemy.

You can't because it's practically useless due to a great number of reasons mentioned on the forums already.

Disagree that it is useless. I'm playing on hard and have 2 melees in my party. They're definitely more challenging to control, particularly with mobs like Hurlock Alpha which have AOE attacks - the trick is to use the respective Block and Counter abilities that each melee skill tree has.

Get out of the hinterlands.  You're ruining your own game by being a completionist there.

Warriors could benefit from a "chase" type of action when you start swining away. Most trouble i have with my warrior is once the mage (or mage's) start casting all sorts the screen fills up with so much effects that i can barely make out what happens unless i pause, so im often just hitting air or rarely manage to counter as i just cant see what im suppose to dodge or counter.

Tho im still early in, so maybe it just something i have to get used to.

Tactical camera is still usable. Not using that will kill any melee classes fast and hard. Combat Roll is more useful than you might think. I now play hard mode with friendly fire on, 2 melee (my inquisitor is 2-handed) and 2 ranged. Melee classes save my party's @ss most of the time.

I use tactical camera 90% of the time and abuse pause button very often. I can make my melee classes exactly dodge or block enemy's hit. 2-handed tree's Block and Slash is very powerful.

Well you can complete most of the hinterlands and then move on to a few other areas in the beginning before even going to Val Royeaux to attempt to talk to he Chantry.  I was even able to finish off the dragon before that point.

Combat Roll is pretty much a needed thing for warriors though I think.

I respeced my DW rogue to an archer last night and things are going much smoother now. Less spike damage but far more sustained damage. Plus it's way easier to deal with pesky Mages and archers not aggroed by the tank. I can keep my mage AOEs concentrated on the tanks mob while I deal with ranged attackers. And it's much easier to get combos off as you don't have to cover ground to instantly switch to a potential combo enemy.

I never get why people try to beat the level 12 rifts in the hinterlands at level 6 instead of just progressing the story and coming back to those rifts at level 12. I guess people are not use to the type of game where you don't complete an area before moving on.

Agreed. Though if you have Dispel, Level 12 rifts are nothing.

In my observations, only dual weapon rogues are unfun and unplayable. Warriors with guard generating capabilities and Knight Enchanters do just fine.

That being said, overall, ranged classes are better than melee ones simply because they require less tactical planning.

Warriors not fun? I am a tank and i have a lot of fun, the chain, the charge, i can get almost everybody, but of course it is easy to play with a ranged class, always is. Especially on first playtrough.

Same here, I am LOVING the tanking mechanics. Doing a DPS/Tank hybrid and it's working out great on hard.

Go to behaviors have your barrier mages switch to defend (controlled character) or whatever melee char you want. I bring two mages and have one defend me one defend case and I rarely take damage (only on normal not sure how this works on higher difficulties without tactical)

I think a Reaver tank would be super fun probably my best character :)

Personally i love the challenge of melee.  It can be a bit frustrating at times, but in general it feels like it takes a lot more skill to stay on the mobs, mob positioning, etc...

Playing a DW rogue so far has been a blast, in terms of power level I am not sure exactly where rogues sit though since I got a great crafted schematic for daggers so my rogues weapons out pace by far.  Only fight I am really regretting it (and may respec for) so far is the dragon in the hinterlands.

Honestly I was just exploring by the farm to the west and ran into the rift by the stream. of course im gonna go back when i level a bit cause those 2 despair demons are shredding me now. then I found a 2nd level 12 rift to the south... oy vai

Is there a way to re roll to ranged after the game has started. I heard there was a way to change your atributes one time only but can't figuire out how.

I think Warriors are the easiest because you want to be spamming abilities and it's easier with a warrior.

...

Switch to controlling Varric or Solas, your melee char will have its movement handled by the AI

:/

How does dispel affect fade rifts?
