I just saw this video, and was CONVINCED it was a female elf, until I saw the lack of a bosom. REALLY? How are you supposed to fight anything like this?

I WAS going to make a male Elf on my second playthrough. I love the culture but seriously, he looks sickly, not slender.

Mask of the Empire talks about Warrior Elves that are well built, MAKE IT AN OPTION BIOWARE. Curious to see how people defend this one.

They really are. I first considered romancing the Iron Bull with my male elf. But after seeing them side by side I was like "hell no!"

Well, it looks like the guys are finally being criticized for not being sexy/manly enough.

My advice is the same: get over it.

Yeah, I was really hoping for more options for customizing our bodies. They look like little aliens.

And no, it's not about masculinity. It's about not looking silly.

Oh, and the necks look crazy in some cutscenes... like 'ayy lmao' kinda crazy.

Well looks like we need some Male-Femenism here. We aren't here to fulfill your barbarian fantasies ladies, some of us are as petite as you.

I'm a heterosexual male... male elves look like they are on their deathbed.

No one is asking for barbarian elves, just ones that look like they could swing a greatsword. If you want gross deathbed elves, then that's fine, you can have that option. I would just like the option to have a healthy looking elf.

My character is supposed to be a DALISH HUNTER, not an IT Operator who spends all day working out his finger muscles.

Elves in this franchise have always been silly. Nothing new here.

I guess they could have added slightly more muscle tone, but I suspect they keep the same body across all class types for cutscene efficiency or something. It's still not something that makes me cringe; it's like the Tolkien style elf build.

Personally? It bothered me that my mage Hawke looked like he could wield a great sword. And even DAO elves looked a little bulky imo.

Had to stop playing my male elf because he looks like an under developed middle school girl. Don't understand the design choice with this one. I really wanted to play one eventually but i don't think i ever will or i will be forced to play a female.

Also would have liked a male Qunari who was slightly less beefy.

"Under developed middle school girl" just strikes me as a really creepy way of describing how thin the elves are.

I too lament the lack of option to play morbidly obese elves whose primary attack is to roll at their foes.

But in all seriousness, some body options would have been nice.

The bigger issue is that Bioware's depiction can lead to a very unhealthy body attitude among young men who play the game. In an effort to be more like the heroes they play then may very well develop eating disorders. We should not be presenting such an unhealthy image to young impressionable players.

But your pelvises are totally crushed.

Doesn't matter. I had snu-snu. I'm going to watch that now.

Pretty much in the same boat. I wanted to play a Qunari that didn't survive a gamma bomb explosion.

More like the D&D-style elf than the Tolkien-style elf. Tolkien's elves had different body types, mostly depending on how close they or their ancestors were to reaching Valinor and seeing the light of the trees. Most of the named elves in Tolkien's writings are of Noldor or Sindar, meaning that they're taller and stronger than ordinary humans. The Noldor in particular are described as tall and muscular.
