What race/class combinations do you like the most?

inquisition.
A mage makes sense because the breach was created by magic and by a tevinter magsiter. It seems that only a mage would have the strength to stand up to him. Not to mention the Mark seems more fitting to a mage.
A male warrior however also makes sense because the people of thedas fear magic now more than ever and would be more likely to follow a mundane than a mage. Couple that with the fact that the noble has ties with the chantry and the inquisition being a former arm of the chantry, and it seems to flow very well. Not to mention warriors are always seen more as leaders and the sheer badass factor of a mundane leading a religious army to take on a an extremely powerful mage.
Which would you guys say makes more sense?

dwarves are by far the strongest race in the game in NM due to magic being the most dangerous thing to deal with.
humans are arguably the weakest on anything but casual and normal.
Elves make decent archers and rogues as archers tend to hit like a truck vs low armor.
Qunari are grossly overshadowed by dwarves.

dwarven two handed Templar makes the game a joke when sided with templars on NM
cute elvhen champion [regardless of sns or two hander] is very hard to kill
if I side with mages i tend to make an elf because that range defense from all the fricking templars bowman
I don't care for qunari. made a qunari mage and it was just too easy. melee people have a hard time beating you down.
Elven and Human rogues are my favorites.
Warriors? Dwarf > elf > Human
Mage? just pick elf or human for a challenge. Qunari mages are cheese with barrier + ice armor/ice wall. KE makes qunari mages even more broken.

Just to point out, the human isn't necessarily sent to Templars. It says Templars or in service to the Chantry. You could be a brother/sister or some other functionary.
Actually, the background says only this:
"With close family ties to the Chantry, and many relatives among the priesthood and the templars, you were always expected to follow a similar path in service of the Maker—regardless of how you feel about the matter personally. Willing or unwilling, you were sent to the Chantry's conclave to assist relatives who sought to make peace between the templars and mages."
Which doesn't necessarily imply that you've joined either organisation -yet-. Besides, if you were already a templar, the way you unlock the specialisation if you're playing a warrior doesn't make a lot of sense to me (i.e. if you were with the templars already, you wouldn't need anyone telling you what they're about, you'd probably be already on lyrium, etc.). Champion seems like a better fit to me once you officially become the Inquisitor (I mean, you pretty much already are what the trainer describes), and probably the class/race combination that makes the most sense story-wise, IMO.

Elf everything!
But in all seriousness, I like elf KE since KE's are based on the elven arcane warriors. As Solas says the elves of ancient times might appreciate that something of their history survived. Makes since for Dalish elves to have scout-type rogues too though.
I am aware that qunari make the best mages because of their vitaar. Good warrior mercs too.
Dwarves obviously compete with qunari for who makes the stereotypical warrior, though a dwarven 2-handed warrior is pretty funny to watch. Like, LOL, yeah right.
Humans are the worst everything. (Just my opinion. No need for people to get all pissed off just because someone has an opinion different form their own.)

2H Reaver Qunari. It is already hinted that the Qunari of a thousand or more years in the past mixed in dragons blood into their peoples blood. Even Cole and Corypheus make comments on it with Cole saying Qunari horns are Dragon horns, and Corypheus stating Qunari are not a race but a mistake. Why not add more of that empowering blood and become even more of what I am?

If you get hit by any magic spell, and you are not the tank, you are playing wrong.

My first play through was a male Qun Necromancer. I loved it because it was the first time you could play either in any of the Dragon Age series. Plus, seeing a huge hulky mage with horns was amusing. (romanced Cassandra)
My second play through was a female Elf Archer on Hard. I did it so I could flirt with Sera, but make it harder (since she hates elves).
My third run through on Nightmare is a female Human Knight Enchanter. Mainly so that I can romance Josephine. I wanted to romance Vivienne and dump her for being a B*@ch, but alas is not available.
I love playing warriors normally in most games, but I haven't enjoyed how Dragon Age handles their tactics or skills.

Spec/Race combinations, in my own view.
I think the Rogue specs work well for any race. You can come up with logical reasons why someone of any race would choose to be an Assassin, or an Artificer, etc. Artificer I think works best as a Dwarf or a Qunari though. They have the mechanical crafting kinda background which does some work for me. Assassin is a pragmatic way to fight, make the first strike as lethal and/or as crippling as possible so any follow-up combat is that much easier, as Zevran more or less said in Origins. Tempest is for the slightly more spastic, temperamental rogue who may be crazy, lol.
Warrior specs are fairly similar. Champion works well for all the races, as does Reaver. A non-human Templar doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me though. Sure, a Dwarf or Qunari may very well have converted, but that's still a bit of a stretch. Not an impossible stretch, mind. A Dalish Templar to me is like tearing the heart out of Lore's chest and tap dancing on it, lol.
Mage specs are "the worst" in this regard. At first glance, I can't really see an Elf Necromancer. What little lore there is points to Necro being more of a Human-based thing, with Chantry references if not being Chantry-like itself. Plus the whole Sethenaran/Uthenara kinda things make me think that it's just not something that would appeal. Makes sense as an "evil" spec for Humans and Qunari though. Rift Mage works for everyone, in the sense that it feels like you're just taking your general mage-ery to the next level by directly channeling from where you get magic. KE doesn't make much sense for Qunari in my opinion. Once again, maybe a converted Qunari etc. /shrug.
If I may speak generally about the classes, Inquisition is the first game in the series where I'm not very interested in playing a mage. The combat style of the new engine doesn't really support the typical mage role. The downsizing of the AoE and the seemingly pathetic damage and the apparent fact that siding with the mages makes an entire school of magic ineffective at best more or less kills the typical kind of mage I like to play.
Warriors are actually fairly fun this time around though. I don't mind playing them generally, they just tend to lack the tricks that Rogues and Mages have. Maybe I just haven't gotten to a high enough level or something, but everything and its mother eats through my guard like it's almost not there. And they don't really have any internal skill synergy besides maybe Charging Bull into Mighty Blow (both upgraded of course).
Rogues are one of my usual go to classes to play as, and I think they're the best designed class. You rarely fight more than a few enemies at a time, and even the rifts where like 8 things like Despair and Rage and Pride Demons spawn can be managed if you take out specific targets (which is exactly the Rogue's job). Or if you vaporize half of them with the Mark
lol.
