Recently, i needed a interior tileset for a Spelljammer NWN1 module i am working on. Searching the web for this tileset sort, I found nothing. So, i decided to take the next best thing: TormentedBloods Oriental Wood interior and adapt it to his new task the best i could.

And here you have, a new woody Spelljammer interior tileset...

http://neverwinterva...nterior-tileset

This is a stand alone hak, you don't need to use the arcane space combo. There are probably some bugs because this is my first try doing tileset work, but its a functional set, and you got minimaps plus a new tile (98 tiles in all).

Comments anyone ? :)

I like this tileset, the colors are mellow, makes me think of a sophisticated library.

Have you considered making the blue tile elements on the wall into portholes? You could make them windows like in WoRm's stagecoach tileset of the city interiors tileset included with CEP, the could show some arcane space. Like bubbles with a picture on them so players looking through them would have the impression of being on a vessel. Just a suggestion.

For a first tileset, it is really nice and clean. I am trying to make my own first and I can only hope it comes out this well.

Thanks for sharing.

Random suggestions: As possible ways to round it out more, matching doors, chair and table plcs, and/or a few loadscreens?

captains_helm.jpg

Or perhaps even a few retextured thrones as spelljammer helms?

- Yes, i have considered evolving the blue tile elements into portholes. In fact, i will probably go this way. The choice of the blue tile elements was initially done with the intent to make something that could be used as a universal interior set (houses, castles...) and not solely for wildspace faring vessels, thus this choice for ambiguous elements you could interpret as decorative lamps, opaque windows or sleek portholes. I don't know about WoRm's city tileset windows, but i have this idea for a big round observation window placeable to be used superposed with another different separate flat background placeable (starfield, phlogiston, clouds...). I don't want to promiss (my Nwn work plate is full at the moment and i am just a GMax noob) but i would love to make something like that. And thanks for the compliments, i wish you success with your own tileset work.

- Good ideas, similarly themed doors would be great (i need to learn how to do doors first ;-). You have some furniture included in the tileset (use erase with the 2X2 room) but it's just the old Drow wares retextured (hope you like the tiger themed beds ;-). Well, yes, i would like to make a SJ expansion placeable pack. Associated loadscreens are my curent 1st priority project. Thanks for your input.

Here you have some screens depicting what i am working on. Hope new portholes look better than the old stained glass bays. I like how they add something to the "command deck".

I actually quite like how the command deck portholes look out despite there being stairs behind them. Adds this weird non-euclidean space feel to the ship.

Love the new windows, Its perfect as the SJ's Bridge, and also a great place for animated PLC Orreries :D

If you are feeling especially adventurous, larger single windows, cannon ports, skybox windows of spelljammer exteriors...

In non-Euclidean space, windows look out through us.

Well... I suppose these could be used as magical display units :) . After all, even a minor helm bestows the mage using it "the ability to see things as if he were standing on the deck". And, as Proleric says, SpellJammer is non-Euclidean so light doesn't have to behave the normal way.

What to expect from universes where stars could be anything, ranging from titanic bonfires sticked to the hollow interior of gigantic spheres, to floating big phosphorescent howl eyes or elven-maintened lighthouses scattered on asteroïd belts ?

@rjshae

Is there a glowy astrogation table, per chance?

Not yet, but this is a very good idea indeed... In the meantime, you can use the 2 starmaps pinned to the wall and do your astronav the old boring way. ;)

I knew I had this issue of Dragon somewhere.

sc47.png

You can use this one picture as a texture reference. It shows the half-elf captain of a Tradesman looking out of one of the large windows at the actual Spelljammer in orbit around a double planet. Incidentally, this captain is wearing a Crown of the Stars - a wearable helm. Also you will notice that this particular vessel has decorative mahogany wood panelling installed.

Interesting picture! A placeable like the large window or a Crown of the Stars would be great to have. But for now, i am working on a more humble sibling: a SpellJammer furnace placeable. It is not completely finished (animation problems and other headaches...) but here is how it looks.

Emergency furnace used! Will burn all sort of magical artefacts to move the ship.

More new tiles coming in next tileset iteration...

Round corner corridor tile

round_corridor_tile01.jpg?dl=1

Corridor stairs down, with useable transition exit/arrival.

corridor_stairsdwn_tile01.jpg?dl=1

Corridor tile with stairs up (useable transition zone included).

I am having problems with the awful stair shadows. Could some kind soul help, and explain the GMax/3DSMax procedure to deactivate them ? If there is a simpler ASCII model editing way, even better... Thanks.

Really scrumptious!  They'd make great elven homes as well.  Do these have roofs?

No, no roof yet... Agree, it surely can be used for elven homes. In fact, the initial basis for this tileset was Bio Drow. The old set tiles are all in there, without dark spiderish, iron pointy adornments or stone components.

New Spelljammer Wood Interior Tileset version release!

Beta v0.88

You can find it at the usual place... Just look in the previous post for the link.

New in this release:

- 2 new square tiles (square corridor end, and square room)

- new minimaps

- an improved tilefade system. Now all the tiles can do it, even the straight "floor2" elements.

- less bugs

Square rooms ?

New "Floor2" tiles with fading on. A sentry box is hidden in this picture... Can you spot it?

The new square corridor end used to make better hulls (and rectangular barges :P)
