I am curious to find out how Alistair is in the sequel as he dies ( or at least he did with my playthrough ) killing the archdemon. I am aware that there are different endings but, if I was to import the character to DA Awakenings ( I understand that this is going to be an option in DA Awakenings ) which ended up with Alistair getting killed in DAO then I'd be interested to see how the storyline gets around this :)

I dont think Alistair is going to play a major role in DA:A even if he did survive, so he could easily be replaced by Queen Anora.

Alistair apparently, judging from the video, will be available as a party member in Akakening -- IF he survived in your Origins ending.

I guess it all depends on your game. I would imagine.

If he died, Anora is queen.

If he lived and is King, I can't see him being a companion. Can't see the king being aloud to slip out for a little adventure.

If he lived and isnt King he can come with you :)

Or, Bioware decided that they couldn't incorporate all possible endings into an expansion and made a beginning where Alistair and your PC are both alive. (Since you can use the epilogue save.)

I would feel that would be immersion breaking :)

Theres going to be a point where it takes more work to code in the various possibilities a player makes than it does to code new content in an expansion. I'd rather they used the zots to work on new content thanks, immersion be damned. Saying "This is the Canon Story" is a tried and true technique for making progress, no reason to change it now.

I think the more appropriate thing to say is this:

There is going to be a point where BUDGET restraints and DEADLIINES set by EA is going to FORCE a canon story.

TBH, so far Bioware seems to take in all the several endings (certain parts of it)... the fact that Alistair always appears doesn't need to mean something :)

Yeah, they can hardly show a trailer where Alistair is alive, then he's dead; Leliana is alive and looking for Marjolaine, alive and hunting broodmothers, alive and rebuilding the Grey Wardens with the love of her life, dead; and so on for each companion.

All you get in the trailer - from what I can tell - is a glimpse or two of a 'possible' beginning. An aperitif to whet your appetite. Not: this is it, like it or lump it.

Chill out, man.

It is my secret dream that BioWare establishes that Alistair's canon ending is to end up a drunken has been and that only the people who chose that ending for him can have him as a companion in any given expansion/sequel.

I think bitter, alcoholic Alistair could have the potential to be the greatest thing ever.

Showing reactivity in a short trailer (especially the first trailer) would probably cause folks a lot of confusion.

I believe the confusion has already happened. Y'all have already stated ( bioware) that the players info. can be ported over if the pc lived and if the sacrifice was can start a new Warden. As well I have seen that some readers aren't paying attention to what have written about Awakenings.

I can post this, for what it's worth:

From a certain Ferret A Baudoin -

Yay, I can finally talk about what I've been working away at. :)

Some random answers to questions brought up (obviously I can't answer everything):

* Choices in Origins definitely are recognized in the expansion.

* You do import all of your gear from Origins, but not from the chest in
Soldier's Peak. But you can always pull out what you like, save, then
import that save.

* You can't play an Orlesian Grey Warden in Origins.

* Amaranthine is indeed the coastal arling that once belonged to Rendon
Howe. And, of course, everyone will speak with a Jamaican accent. OK,
maybe that last part isn't true. :)

The trailer shows more content where Allistair is dead than where he's still alive. Compare the number of scenes he's in to the number of scenes he isn't in. And there you have it!
