I've been having an issue on PC that i cant find any fixes for (or anyone else who has the same problem)

 

Single player works fine apart from the odd stuttering but for the last few days I've been completely unable to load a multiplayer game.  I can log into the keep, switch characters, buy chests etc but as soon as i try to join/host a game it freezes on the loading screen with the only way out being Ctrl+Alt+Del (neither Alt tabbing or Alt+f4 work).  the game says its responding in the processes list but will stay frozen.  I've also tried loading a private game solo with the same result.

 

I'd played around 20 hours multiplayer before this happened the first time but it seemed to resolve after updating all drivers, windows redist etc (although most were upto date), opening the ports required and restarting. Now its happening again and im stumped, I'd hoped the patch today would fix the issue but honestly im not even sure what the issue is.

 

my system specs are

Win 7 64 bit

AMD FX™ 8120 eight core processor 3.10 GHz

16gig RAM

Nvidia GTX 560ti

 

Any help you can give would be appreciated, I've got a sick ass arcane warrior to prestige again

I have issue with the PC version of the game, while trying to refresh character points the game hangs. So I have to Task Manager and kill the process.

And one more: after creating character face in the beginnig, the video with Cassandra and Leliana not playing. Instead character appears in location where he ran away from the spiders.

I have issue with PAtch 2.

In my current gameplay i've chosen Templars, now that i loaded it after patch i have mages in my yard instead of templars.

Fresco portrays templars been chosed. But i really dislike seeing mages in my current, Chantry-oriented gameplay.

Since today after patch 2 i cant use the research desk anymore (the one where you research creatures). Whenever i right click on it, the game crashes to desktop without  researching anything..

Fixed it myself - just sold some of the stuff i already researched - thought they wouldnt research it again, but  as im not sure about it i sold the stuff and  now the desk does it job again

I must have been one of the lucky few PC users who had no issues with the launch version of the game. Prior to installing Patch 2, the game had never crashed on me. Not once.

 

Last night I installed Patch 2, and immediately my troubles began. First was when the game decided that it would launch, but then jump out of the app and return to the desktop (much like alt_tab behaviour). Clicking back into the game worked for 1sec, then it jumped back out again. The only way I was able to fix that was to set the game to windowed mode (fullscreen). Then I implemented the command line parameter hotfix for the shader issue, and successfully played for a few hours.

 

Fast forward to this evening. I applied the new Hotfix for Patch 2, and removed the command line workaround. Fired up the game, continued from last save, walked around for 2min (Storm Coast), started a fight with some bandits and BAM - a BSOD (DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION). My PC has NEVER had a BSOD before. 

 

What on earth is wrong with this game!?

 

 

FYI, specs are as follows: Intel i7 4790K | 16GB RAM | 1TB SSD | GTX 980 (stock reference). Windows 8.1 x64. Latest NVidia drivers (not beta).

After patch 2 +hotfix my GPU overheating all the time! Like every 30 minutes. And it corrupts last savegame I have. What the hell?!

Will the compatibility with other controllers - not the Xbox original - fixed?! I already had a "generic" controller, but it does not work in the game even with Xbox controller emulators like x360ce.

Where's your controller from? I have one from Gamestop that works like a charm, I found how to install it in this old thread. http://answers.micro...75-ad2ab62a72e1

Double check ALL of your drivers and BIOS, especially those for sound and your SSD but ALL of them. Also stress test your hardware. (many programs exist to do that.) That error is often the fault of old, unsupported (win 8.1 vs Win 8 or Win 7 for example) drivers or firmware. If it is not that, it can be faulty hardware or, in one case of it I got, I did not get the new SSD I installed plugged in securely enough and, it must have loosened a bit when I moved my tower. Usually not apps, it's drivers or hardware related.

This isn't really anyone's business but your own, but...

 

Nobody's forcing you to use the default keys, which happen to be centered up around the console key...... which is waaaay up in the corner.  Re-map son!

There is a way to rebind more or less any key, but not though DA: I options. If you have a gaming keyboard, chance are it came with a utility which allows you to set a number of things, one of them being the ability to remap keys on your keyboard. If you don't have that, there are programs that do that.

Here is an article about two programs with which you can remap keys: REMAPPING KEYS

It was the only solution for this problem in BF4 and considering the games share the same engine, I imagine the problem is the same.

The program Autohotkey will successfully remap keys for gaming. Using the registry edit or Sharpkeys has some weird effects with games, specifically with DA:I you can open the console with tilde even when you've remapped, but then doesn't allow you close to with tilde when remapped, leaving you stuck in the console and having to restart the game.

I have to agree with the last poster. I crash within 10 minutes. I've tried lowering my specs. But I think the cause of the crashes is my GPU overheating.

I used to crash all the time, escpecially in a specific area or during a particular fight. I have Gainward GTX 660 Ti Phantom (base clock 1006 MHZ). I underclocked to 915 MHz and I've had zero crashes since. It was the Frostbite engine all along. I know this is not news, but for those that haven't tried underclocking yet, I really recommend you do. Might help with overheating issues, too.

After Patch 2, my game is so lagged that I need to restart my computer to make it work (when it works). Sometimes, even, it's lagged and doesn't even pass through the "Dragon Age serves loading" or something like that.

My computer isn't that advanced or anything but before this patch, these issues never happened before.

 

If someone has any advice for me to make it work better or stop at all, I'd appreciate it.

I also have a GT660 card, but I do not have overheating issues.  I did mess with my fan settings pre-patch, though.  Back when I was crashing and freezing all the time, I thought it could possibly be overheating, so I shuffled my sliders around to ramp the fan up to more RPMs at lower than default temperatures settings.  It didn't fix anything pre-patch, but I never changed them back.  Who knows.

I have a GTX 860M graphic card and the game is always runs in windowed mode even i set as fullscreen mode. That really destory my gaming experience.

since the hotfix for their patch 2 my game is lagging, even the sound is lagging, so it makes no fun
