I'm almost ready to move on from the Hinterlands (thank goodness). But I'd like to get the last shard. Best I can tell, it's on top of a pillar near the dragon lair. Any ideas for how to get up there?
Hinterlands: last lousy shard

jump on the rocks around the edge of it, kinda like a weird staircase.

Just try to avoid the dragonlings if possible.

This is ridiculous. This kind of crap makes the game feel like "Mario Brothers: Inquisition"

You have to make one platform jump. I dont have the game right now or I'd post a screenshot, but its easy to get on a certain step and then you just need to make that one leap and the rest is easy, just hop on up to grab the shard.

IM SO GLAD EVERYONE ELSE HATED THIS DAMN THING.
I was super stuck on this shard, I wasn't sure if I was just a bad platformer or what. I used Cole to do it, that somehow made it easier. Even though my character is a human as well and pretty slim. Maybe it was just my angered and tired brain imagining things.

When I tried to get this shard I spent ages trying to get up there. Every time something would go wrong and I'd end up back at the bottom again. On the last attempt I became so frustrated by slipping off the edge of pillars I shouldn't have that I ended up accidentally switching to the next person in the party and that somehow glitched my Inquisitor to the top of the pillars. Stupid jumping mechanics.

Lol I remember that shard and how my almighty inquisitor looked like an idiot jumping and falling from those step like thingies. I'm so not doing that again on my next playthroughs i say screw it ![]()

I didn't have too much trouble with any of the shards. Inquisition is not nearly as bad as TOR on Bioware's 'Let's add platforming to games not built for platforming' scale.

I had no issues getting it with my human females but I had trouble with my elf. So I swapped out to Cassandra and got it fine. Don't make me parkour if you have no real parkour mechanics in place for these things. I can only imagine how much of a pain in the arse it would be with a dwarf.

TOR, now that takes me back. Pathways about the size of your feet, jumping onto invisible pipes above bottomless pits (in enemy territory for half my chars)entering a random code while a flamethrower is roasting you alive, and having to use a glitch to open activate a terminal while dealing with poison gas.....good times.I didn't have too much trouble with any of the shards. Inquisition is not nearly as bad as TOR on Bioware's 'Let's add platforming to games not built for platforming' scale.
Yeah this shard was nothing compared to some of that stuff.

Yeah, I hate it!
Left that shard there, 1 on the ExaltedPlains on top of a wrecked house, another I forget where same problem = you need to Hop to Victory
I got enough to open all the doors in Fire and Ice,and 1 in Spirit

You know, if you can use your mage's powers to rebuild bridges, you should be able to use your mage's powers to pull those shards down from their perches.

Yeah. Didnt take me long to get the shards at all. What I hated was the Dead Mans Hand Puzzle

I had to rage quit the first time I tried to get that Hinterlands shard with my Dwarf. Terrible! Hopefully it goes better with my Qunari!

I just gave that last shard the finger, and went back playing Mass Effect.

Some of those shards were a real PITA. The one in the Hinterlands was the very last one I finally got. I succeeded only because I'm an OCD nutcase who went through a large portion of the entire game jumping around all over places where I was probably not supposed to be able to go just to see what would happen and if I could get away with it. Actually found a couple of entertaining things that way - I suspect at least one was an Easter Egg for people like me...
I jumped around all over a bunch of cliffs trying to see if I could find a way over rather than having to backtrack and go all the way around. In my efforts, I came down and walked over to check the location and happened upon a table set with a bottle of wine, some glasses and a tray with a large wheel of red wax-dipped cheese speared with a dagger. It was lootable, so...
I look in my inventory and there's this shield. I put it on Blackwall for a while since it had some nice stats for the level I was at. I wish I could find the screenshot! He's standing there with this huge wheel of cheese that's missing a chunk and has a dagger sticking out of it hanging from his back. Watching the animation when he did aggressive shield moves was just waaaay too funny!
