... you get companions other than your starting group? I don't want to rush through the early areas of the game but I wanna get them all as soon as they can be gotten. Anyone know yet?

You will get the Sera and Vivienne quests once you go to Val Royeaux. After Val Royeaux you'll then get Iron Bull and Blackwall quests.

You just have to progress the main story to get the additional companions.

uh, you get many pretty early.. Let me think. I think the first one you get right after the redcliffe zone.. (i forget what it is called. the first big zone)

I highly suggest the following.

Spoiler

Go to the Hinterlands.

Talk to Mother Giselle

Get your 4 power however you'd like.

Go to Val Royeaux and do what's needed there.

Then go grab your followers (Vivienne and Sera's quests are gained in Val Royeaux, Blackwall's quest you get when you get back to Haven, Iron Bull's quest is obtained just outside the chantry)

THEN go back and play in the hinterlands more.

I was able to hunt down a great deal of the companions before even tackling the first major boss in the game.  Not to mention a number of agents as well.  It seems like you have the ability to fill out your party relatively early in the game, with a few stragglers that may not appear later on as the story progresses.

Thanks guys. Within about 20 minutes I got quest invites for everyone apart from Cole (meh)!
This game is so awesome...!
