Whenever I see a post like this I have the same question -- what does a controller actually do better than kb/m? Why is waggling a stick less clunky than pressing keys? (This probably is mostly about me being no good with a controller.)

 

Nothing. I tried my Xbox pad but went back to keyboard, which has many advantages like direct keys for each menu, further back camera and much better camera control. Plus you can pause without going to tactical camera, which I couldn't find on the pad.

 

Most people complaining about controls want click-to-move and click-to-interact, but you're not getting that switching to a pad either.

Consoles absolutely destroy PC's in both hardware sales and actual game sales. Look it up on Forbes. It's not even close in fact. They've been beating PC's by a landslide for the past 8 years. It's one of the reasons why gaming stores have stopped selling PC games or they have considerably cut down to a small shelf in the store with 4-5 games on it.

Console games = $$$$$$$$$$$$$

I apologize, i figured it was well known that the consoles sell more copies of the same game than PC. If im outworldly wrong then i was mis informed.

Rather than speculate, provide links to the data that led you to believe that. Such as I did with the claim about them looking into the control scheme for PC. I personally don't know, but, since I'm not trying to use the argument to shut somebody else down, I'm not going to take the time to look it up either, it's not my center piece for discussion, so I don't need to verify it.

I'm getting sick and tired of being blamed everytime PC 'elitests' find something wrong, just because of my preferred platform. This is borderline prejudiced and just plain wrong. If you can't stop pinning everything bad on console players, just get out and shut up. I and other console gamers do not want to hear it.

Why is it that PC users believe that their format deserves to be treated better than others?  I understand that the PC version was not optimized, the controls need work, and Bioware should address these issues.  I even believe that Bioware should have made sure that these issues were fixed and that all formats were optimized before release. 

 

What I don't understand is the attitude of overwhelming self righteousness and pretentiousness from many (not all) PC users.  The PC is a powerful machine and you can do a lot with it, but in no way does it deserve to be given special treatment.  The game wasn't ruined because of consoles.  Its time to face facts; consoles are where the money is and developers are going to focus their attention on them.

 

This doesn't mean Bioware gets a pass for releasing substandard versions of their game, but people, please stop acting like some spoiled Orlesian noble who has been somehow slighted by those he/she deems inferior.

 

Disclaimer: I'm not addressing any individuals. I'm just commenting on what I've seen across the forums since release and on some user reviews on other game sites.

Anyway this is a circular argument. Unless you're a PC only dude who grew up with the games Origins was an homage to it's hard for you to understand how different it is.

 

Now you're simply assuming i'm a console only guy...

 

I played zMUD on the PC.  The first MMO.  Didn't even have pictures, just pure text.  Ultima Online, Everquest, Baldur's Gate, Dungeon Keeper, Neverwinter Nights.  

I play table-top Dungeons & Dragons (which btw is the actual inspiration for BG/NWN/DA).  I've been playing table-top D&D since first edition.  Still play to this day with 3.5 as i'm not a fan of the 5.0 ruleset.

 

I'd wager I have as much, if not more insight into the world of the games Dragon Age is paying homage to.

 

I don't think just because something is "old" it's bad.  I just know that manufacturers and developers in general continue to push new ideas, or their products potentially suffers and gets criticized poorly.

 

Hell, i'm a perfect example of someone that can appreciate older mechanics.  As I pointed out above, I play D&D 3.5 (a very outdated ruleset) over moving to 4.0/5.0 or a pathfinder variant.

PC gamers with modified rigs dislike console gamers>console gamers dislike each other depending on which console they game on>console gamers then have a love-in when facing up to the PC elitists>we all agree Mac users go for style over substance, thus have more money than brains>3DS gamers dislike Vita gamers and vice versa>and everyone simply loves to loathe mobile device gamers (that aren't doing so on a 3DS or Vita). 

 

Am I doing a good job keeping up with the current trends?   You know, for people who more or less share the same hobby, we all love to loathe one another.

Sorry OP, but you do NOT speak for all PC Gamers.

 

Consoles didn't ruin anything, the game is great. I tried using a gamepad and disliked it, much prefer my mouse for every aspect of the game.

I am a strong advocate for PC playing and play anything and evryrhting I can on my PC.

I however haven't had a lick of trouble with controls. However I do get annoyed at how close I need to be to loot

Not to add fuel to the fire, but I always had a difficult time enjoying DA:O on my Xbox 360 because it was clearly a port of a PC game with uninspired gamepad controls. As far as the Dragon Age series goes, this is a two-way street.

Hate to break it to ya, but this game is fantastic on my console. Just because it's apparently not perfect on PC doesn't make the game any less great on other platforms.

 

I'm genuinely sorry to hear PC gamers are having difficulties. But I'm not obligated to feel guilty for it just because I prefer using a gamepad.

A potentially great game made awesome by console again. This game is probably the best I have ever played. I'm glad that my PC became outdated and that I need to by a next gen console it was the best thing that ever happened to my gaming.
