Nope we can get a refund from Origin, infact a number of PC gamers has already done so if they don't want our money that is fine by you but not by them.

I suppose I cannot, in all fairness, argue with your facts as presented.

I mean, one IS a number after all...

Silver Lining from these various complaints: By re-mapping the Key Controls to familiar ones before I played a minute of the game, it seemed to eliminate a lot of the frustration seen earlier here on the forums. It still is not completely perfect, but have it feeling a lot like a DA/ SWTOR medley currently.

"PC Elitism" doesn't exist. It's just console players deeply misunderstanding where us pure PC gamers are coming from. We are not the same , there IS an "us" and "you", specifically when it comes down to what we expect from a great game. Let me clarify some of the combative verbiage that is often thrown the console players direction that understandably gets blood pumping.

When we say:
The games been "dumbed down" due to catering to the console platform.

What we mean is:
The games UI/controls/combat/art etc. has been significantly made LESS complicated/flexible/immersive in order to accommodate for restrictions directly correlated to including consoles as part of the development of the game. PC gamers view this as a loss of features, and it is. PC gamers expect "more" from their games than console gamers, it's just a fact, and isn't a bad thing.

I don't know how to get console players to "get" why exactly PC begrudge publishers for catering to console crowd, but maybe this will help give them some perspective:

Since console players seem to think that PC players should just suck it up since "consoles is where the money is...duh", put yourself in our shoes. Since mobile gaming is clearly where the money is at, I'd like to see how well the console gaming community would react to publishers developing their "console games" with mobile gaming platform as their primary focus. When console gamers start having to experience the "dumbing down" required to develop cross console/mobile games whose UI/controls and content developed first and foremost for touch mobile devices (NOT a controller) perhaps you can start to empathize with us PC gamers. You would probably feel like the games that are being made are not the games you want to play.

You don't want to play a mobile game on your console.
We don't want to play a console game on our PC.
Console gamers expect more from their games than mobile gamers.
PC gamers expect more from their games than console gamers.

But hey, according to the prevailing argument for console game ports being it's where the money is... it wont be long before you're in our shoes being told to "stop whining, get a touch pad' and being called the "console elite" by the new "market majority".

I have already seen refund posts as well as the refund page in origin, you don't believe it that is fine by you but EA has records of it.

Well if they can't get the PC controls and stability to be decently good, then it might actually not be worth developing for the PC market any longer. Better than pouring time and resources into one version of the game a lot of people hate.

Better than Bioware becoming a company like Ubisoft who just continuously releases awful PC versions of all their major games.

That's a console gamers view, the fact that unbisoft still develop PC games mean the PC market still earns a lot of money. 2k games still views the PC market as their cash cow since Civilization: Beyond Earth has no consoles and that is enough for them to earn lots of revenue.

Playing on the PC. It's taken me about a day to get used to the control setup which is not significantly longer than it takes for me to get used to the control schemes of other games. Honestly? I think you people are spoiled. It's times like these when I thank my oh so lucky stars for not being born in a developed country, cuz really these are first world problems to the max. It's like some of you people don't have a gauge in your brain to tell you what the right level of offended is in proportion to the offense. It's weird. The game is fine, the control takes some getting used to but if you let that ruin the game for you... Yeah. Like I said, spoiled. The world doesn't revolve around you and etc.

Have even tried the tactical camera, completely unplayable because the controls are made with a controller in mind so this is one feature we PC players will never get unless we use a controller.

Actually, thats also false. The reason games are "dumbed down" in your eyes is due to the developers not scaling. The game needs to be designed with a great many features to start with. Then, they should scale it depending on the platform. Thus PC gamers get their top quality and console players get a healthy balance without any dumbing down.

Many deveopers dont do this however, because they dont want to have a "clear" trump when it comes to a platform for the game. They dont want people to look at the PS4 version with 50~ npcs and the PC version with 250~ npcs. That way the game looks similar across all systems. Its not completely due to lower specs on the console and its also not completely due to business practise, its a mixture of many reasons.

PC Elitism does exist whether you think it does or not, its a matter of self moderation. Console gamers aren't pissed off at PC gamers for having a more powerful system, they're pissed off at certain PC gamers for trying to rub it into peoples faces, which to be fair, many do. Thats why this entire freaking "platform war" exists, because people are shitty.

I myself have a rather decent PC... AND a PS4. I buy many games for my console because I prefer it that way for certain games. I just wish gamers could get the freak along. But it wont ever happen, because you people are extremely shitty people. (you people reffering to those who actively fight this stupid platform war)

so................ don't buy them?

nobody's in "your shoes" because you're a wanker, like all eltists.

K&M is a personal preference, one of the key reasons i don't go and fork out $3000 for a top end pc is I already spend 10-16 hours at computer 4-6 days a week it gives me RSI, If more PC titles supported full controller support I'd consider the switch. But as it is they don't.

i've played console games that were shitty ports from PC, I don't feel an incessant need to ****** about it. I just no longer buy those games. in the cases where i buy a PC game marked *MS controller support TM and the game turns out the games idea of support is to disable 30% of the control's and only give you 2 axis of movement and no analogue support. I simply shrug return the game.

the problem as you can see is I am not the main market for PC developers, I don't think the world owes me a favour for buying a 30 dollar controller. If they support it fully fantastic! i will praise the company if not. no biggy.

It's the same reason i don't buy mobile a games or games designed for gimmick's like playstation eye or whatever they call them nowadays. I don't enjoy them so i don't buy them.

If ports from mobile games are the future console players (in actual fact "controller" players is what your gripe is, anyone who's over 27 remembers console's with a keyboard) have a choice either adapt or only support those that give support that you enjoy.

Bitching will never solve your problem, you're minority you have to deal with the majority of AAA publishes catering to large markets just like for years, Just I've had to deal with PC games not catering to controllers because I was in the minority.

Adapt or only support the things that cater to your niche. the world Owes you nothing, it doesn't care about you. Learn to deal with it.

the Mere fact you think your something special for spending a larger portion of your income for gaming say's it all. you're right about their being an US and them there's wankers and there's quite literally everybody else. Everybody else is mature enough to simply say "this isn't for me" and return the product and then live their life. the world won't bow to youjust because you think you're better then other people.

Ok...let me say it again: has everything to do with how devs treat PC gamers, not what console gamers think. The former is a real problem; the latter, most PC gamers laugh at.

For what it's worth, I'm on PC and I've been immensely enjoying the game. I'm playing with a controller, but if your only problem is with KB+Mouse implementation then "ruined" is an unfortunate choice of a word and a gross overstatement. Because that problem is fixable and the developers have already announced they're going to look into fixing it.

What is wrong with discussing our first world problem?

Just because we are here talking about the controls for a game doesn't mean we don't care about the starving millions elsewhere or the Ebola infected zombies rising up.

Poor controls for a game can kill the experience.

Good grief. See this is exacty what I'm talking about. Only yesterday this person started a thread that the game was all too hard and appealed to BW to include infant-mode in the game so that they didn't actually have to play it. Now suddenly they're trying to pose as some sort of gaming guru. Indeed, do not make me laugh sir.

Thank you for subsequently proving my point in a totally unrelated post.

It is only about if your rig can run and if you can own face at it. All other matters are irrelevant.

Console gamers can claim both, which is obviously more than yourself.

You didn't get my complains at all. I have no problem playing the game I'm just lazy, I just do easy things because I see no fun in any difficulty. When I was younger (and stupid) however I spent time with these things called challenges. Yeah I had a hardcore Diablo 2 character, or played Street Fighter 3 at max level, but it is all so retarted that I regret myself for being so stupid in the past. Now I know what matters in life, to have fun, no challenge, just go and pick what I want, if it troubles me, even a little I go for another thing... the only problem was that unfortunatly DA story got the best of me... otherwise I wouldn't even have bothered finishing it.

But yeah, I'm a game guru, I know "the way of the thousands and millions damage", in the only two genres I play at least, fighting and RPG. Know and perform without failure the movelist of all characters from SF, KOF, MK (depends on version, not that much of MK fan) and many other clones with 360 and hadouken style moves, I'm a no good in the 3D like Tekken, DoA and others like these and those 2D heavily combo based like Blazblue and VS series, exactly for the same reason I hate DAI, I'm lazy and see no point and doing difficult things. The same goes for RPG, before action came into factor in DAI I had no problem with any RPG, from Pokémon and Final Fantasy Tactics to Diablo 3 and Dragon Age 2, but again, why play hard difficulty if I can complete my story in few hours in casual?

I'm the same pro as I once was, but now I'm less stupid. When you are young you like sommersaults to defeat your enemies, later, if you cease to be dumb you just go to very high window and use a sniper to hit the guy in the head, Not fair, no challenge, overkill, but why bother? You go, kill him, go home, eat your pizza and play your game instead of fistfighting and bragging about it. So that's it, I can make and invulnerable battle mage, arcane warrior or a godlike damage spirit warrior archer, and they rock nightmare with no problem at all in DAO/A but again, why do it in nightmare if I can do it casual and finish the game faster? If you read my topic as you said you did you would know that my whole point is finish my stories, couldn't care less about what happens in combat or anything else but story, for that matter.

I wrote the post mostly because you people are too fast to think you know anything. But it is not your fault, probably 90% of people would think that if a person hates challenge and complains about difficult it is because this person actually is not good, not my case really. Is it too hard to understand that I repeated a gameplay for ten years and had the same results and I want to keep on repeating for 100 years more? That's just it lazyness. Same reason I SUCK at 3D fighting games, I know KOF/SF mechanics mostly, I repeat them it works fine with little adaptation to each game combo system (I prefer KOF XIII) but commands and logic are almost the same, so I just repeat the same things for eons of times and get the same results.

When you take no joy in doing something, there is no point in doing it in any other way than the easiest one. Do you have/had a job you hate? That is exactly what gaming is to me, except for the fact that the reward is not money, is my story. But would you dedicate and do the hardest thing possible in your work if you hated it? Even knowing that there would be no extra reward? Well, if you answer is (masochistically) yes, then I can understand why you think I really have trouble playing DAI, otherwise you will understand that you NEVER do something you hate the hard way when you can do it the easy way. But I did not even need to say all this, the simple fact that this is the first time I ever compained about it in a game is a sign that it is "game side" and not "user side", game sux I just don't want to spen time in combat, if you understood anything else read again. You really misunderstood everything, if you read other posts there you would notice it too since people that REALLY understood what I said took time to explain "she isn't complaining about difficulty but about combat mechanics" or something like this.

@Juliana  laugh all you like, in the end you're the ones whining that your PC can't run a game the rest of us are enjoying.

PC can't lol? Now where did you get this strange idea from? The only problem is controls and controllers can be used in PCs too. If you like keyboard + mouse like myself you could use them in the consoles and have the exactly same problem because, I suppose you didn't get it, it is not a plataform issue is a game (software) issue. Issue caused by the focus on the controller most common to consoles, the console gaming experience in general perhaps, but by no means it makes it better on consoles, people with consoles are just so used to that hideous blasphemy called controller that they are happy this way.

The funny thing is, this isn't really a console vs. PC issue at all. If the game has been ruined by anything it's by poor design choices. The functionality PC gamers are being most vocal about ALREADY EXISTS IN THE GAME, it's just been made unnecessarily difficult to access. At some point they made a conscious design choice for it to be that way, I just can't understand why. I posted this in another thread but it applies here:

----

"It's really jarring how half of the functionality only works in regular view and half only in tac cam.

For instance, If you pull back one click from regular view into tac cam, you suddenly have access to auto-attack and click-to-loot, but no longer have access to the item pinger (and probably have a view you need to change). I find myself constantly riding the one mouse-wheel notch between the two to access the full suite of controls.

If they were genuinely trying to make a 'console action RPG' (as many claim) and had straight up removed the typical crpg functionality as a result, I could at least understand what they were going for. The truth however is that this functionality --which many people playing the game obviously consider to be critical, and how they want to play the game-- actually does exist in the game, it's just been made incredibly awkward to access for no apparent reason.

I'm just completely failing to see the design logic in so stubbornly splitting this access to functionality between the two camera modes. The code for auto-attack and click-to-loot is obviously already in the game, so what do they possibly gain from refusing to allow the player to use them from regular view? The result isn't me playing it like an action RPG; the result is me fighting the disjointed control scheme to try and play it how I want to play it."

------

It probably is a hangover from console led development, but to blame the consoles for that is a cop out. They already went to the trouble of coding click-to-auto-attack and click-to-loot (they work in tac cam), so it would likely be a trivial amount of work to allow those things to function in regular view. At some point they made a deliberate design choice to deny access to that functionality in regular view: that isn't a consolitus issue, it's a poor design choice issue.

Maybe you should stop wasting money on PC's then and buy a console for a superior gaming experience that costs you less money?

Or hook up a controller and play DA:I in a far better fashion consoles can.  Like most multiplats.

From your own links :

- First link shows that the gaming weight of the PC alone is equal to all consoles added together (33 % vs 34 %).

- Second link shows in BRIGHT RED that it's talking about PHYSICAL SALES only. They even points RIGHT BELOW that digital sales are in large expansion.

In other words, you seem to not even have understood what you linked, and just shot yourself in the foot if you wanted to "prove" that PC is a small, second-rate market. You showed the exact opposite. Nice fail.

To all people claiming PC is such a healthy market for AAA games (not talking about mmos, mobas or solitaire), why do publishers of AAA games put so much focus on console versions and not as much or outright ignore the PC? Think about it... Hint: companies go where the money is.
