In Dragon Age: Origins, Morrigan was a mysterious and highly accomplished mage. She was analytical, practical, and cold (on the surface); however, exploring romance gave you a chance to break down those walls. Her allure was so strong, sometimes one would make decisions they wouldn't typically make just to appease her. On the other hand, Leliana was a former assassin/bard, trying to repent for her past. Truthfully, she got on my nerves until she was "hardened", but after that, totally awesome.
Fast forward to DA: Inquisition. Straight male characters have two options...
1. Cassandra - Party member. Nobility. Warrior archtype. Goody-two shoe religious fanatic since youth.
2. Josephine - Non-party member. Nobility. Politician.
This is the first Bioware game (in DA:1-2 and Mass Effect 1-3) that I've not elected for a relationship. Since the primary relationships are a total drag, I was hoping it was possible to strike up something with Leliana if she wasn't romance in the previous DA titles, but after a quick Google, I see that's not an option... again, very disappointing. I much prefer someone who's in the middle instead of "one of the guys" (Cassandra) or "one of the girls" (Josephine) - both of which are way too "good" and diplomatic for my taste (both past and present).
Meanwhile...
Straight female gamers have (3 party members, 1 non party member):
1. Blackwall
2. Iron Bull
3. Cullen
4. Solas
Homosexual gamers have (2 party members (m) / 1 party member & 1 non-party member (f))
1. Iron Bull (m)
2. Dorian (m)
1. Josephine (f)
2. Sera (f)
*Women definitely got the shaft here because Sera's a lunatic and Josephine's so damn boring...*
Honestly, I could care less what's provided to different sexes / sexual orientations. I am just disappointed by the lack of options provided to straight male gamers (which feels a bit like the twilight zone). Both options are completely boring, one dimension individuals. What gives?
