Why? That sounds like a horrible idea. I'd buy it.

I've heard they're sensitive to the criticism that any DLC is just content that was deliberately withheld from the game to sell. Well, maybe they could do an expansion pack then, Awakening style.

I was afraid of this. There's been so much fan whining about their various games that they're demoralized. I really hate that.

I was talking about DLC companions/romance, there's obviously gonna be possible DLC story content

Buying something after the game itself costs 60$ is a horrible idea.

Not to mention the game barely works for many people and they ain't doing sh*t about that yet and it's been a week already.

So what? Not everyone is gonna like all the characters or their romance options

That's not Bioware's problem

With such complaints becoming common place here, I can help but wonder if Dragon Age would be better off without Romance. People get too angry and too emotional with this sort of thing and no matter who is available to romance people aren't satisfied. People are overly dramatic and critical of a very small part of the game.

Romance is one of Bioware's trademarks. Yeah people sometimes complain, but people would complain even more if it was taken away. There's a lot of things I love about Dragon Age, but getting to be a gay man in a video game is what brought me to Dragon Age and Mass Effect and I don't think I would have the same level of devotion if that was taken away from me like every other video game.

I've found this interesting as well. You generally do not see gay women complaining considering they also only have two options, or if they do, they're expressing basic one-off disappointment and then moving on.

As a gay man, I think it's because we're just used to disappointment from media haha. It's so rare to find a same sex character that is A) romancable and B ) actually well written. I can honestly say, in my humble opinion, Dorian is the first male I've encountered that fits both. Leliana already broke the F/F barrier though if you ask me, but again it's all subjective. Sad, but true.

I HATED Zevran. I still do and he was clearly the only M/M option in DAO (please note I have not uttered much complaint at all, even though my orientation was again woefully neglected. Cry me a river straight guys, this is probably the first game where you weren't considered a prioty /angry hiss) But it's a RPG so it's not my wang, and I can appreciate characters for their worth. I appreciated Morrigans character (note: obviously not her sexual appeal), and she's now my canon romance in nearly every DAO play I've ever done. Hell, probably my favourite romance from RPGs in general.

I don't really understand why certain people, from what ever orientation, can't just move the **** on and realise that it's an RPG and you don't have to play your gender or your sexual orientation. You playing a female does not make you feminine, and you romancing your own gender does not make you gay. In the same way me romancing Morrigan did not make me straighter in real life, haha.

TL : DR, it's a game, move on and accept it's fiction. Role a female quizzy, romance the lesbian characters to your hearts content. Don't like Sera either? Roll a female, branch out and romance a male character. It's amazing how RPGs can make you into a more accepting person if you just *try* it. And I promise you, doing so will not compromise your masculine identity in the slightest.

Its not a rule thats holding any of us back. Its our own personal preferences. I'm quite certain that "Why don't you just play a straight character?" wouldn't hold any water for most gay players if our positions were reversed. Believe it or not, there are people who don't agree with you who are capable of making up their own minds, realizing their own options, thinking outside the box and STILL choosing something you don't agree with. I'm tired of this presumption among certain communities that anybody that doesn't agree must be some kind of programmed sheep or too stupid to consider their options.

I don't care how many romance options there are in video games, because I'm not a whinger.

That's a reason for us, as a community, to strive to be more level headed about this.

...and less prone to throwing fireballs at each other. That way we don't look from a distance like a bunch of grade schoolers whose toy came in the wrong color.

Perspective is good, right? This same complaint coming up in thread after thread after thread after thread gets old, but...

Imagine if the game hadn't been pushed back and Solas and Cullen hadn't been added.

We'd be seeing plenty of outrage over neither Blackwall and Iron Bull being traditionally handsome.

Honestly, one more topic like that and I'll be glad that "straight male players" don't have sh*t this time, because I've never seen someone whining more than them.

Yeah, as a straight male, I am happy with my options.

I would like to say something on behalf of adorable Josephine : as an asexual person, yes, I can confirm that it's very possible to be in a romantic relationship without being in a sexual one. In fact, for most romantic asexuals, that's the ideal relationship, though most can compromise in the name of love. (And yes, 'compromise' will be all it is. An ace bf/gf will never want their SO's that way, even if they can acknowledge that sexual people have their urges and act on that.)

I'm so glad that the sexual status of Josie's romance is more or less 'whatever you think it is'. I don't hate it when romances end in sex, obviously, that's what happens for most people. But it's really nice to have an option to think whatever you want. My sexual friend who romanced her did headcanon that sex happened. She didn't need to see onscreen sex. You don't always need to see everything. Sometimes less is more.

And tbh, when the Inquisitor does all these things for her, does he do it because he loves her, or because he wants to bang her?

'Transaction' has no part to play when the answer is 'love'. If the answer isn't 'love', then yes, 'transaction' has a place.

But hey, I'm a weird asexual person with weird asexual views, you understand.

Hey, instead of actually trying these romances out, let's judge them with simplistic, superficial words!

I'm romancing Josephine right now, and honestly it's refreshing. She's one of the most grounded bioware characters ever. In an endless pool of broken, mentally disturbed, distrustful, hardened characters, that sort of uniqueness gives her depth.

Can't speak for Cass, but that's because I haven't tried out her romance, therefore I can't actually make an informed judgement about it

Why is it so hard for some people to understand that not all consider Josephine to be a actual romance? A lot of whiners pop in to voice their superior opinion about other posters though, as if it was needed.

I'm quite disappointed when I recently found out that vivienne wasn't a romance option, the only good looking female with elegance and class not to be a romance option. Like seriously all bioware had to do was make her a straight romance option for males and there wouldn't be much complaints at all, is bioware on crack or are they trolling us to the extreme.

It's only needed because some people fail to understand that not all consider Josephine to be 'not-romance' and tries very hard to prove that they're right and everybody else is wrong, I believe.

Because it's invalid. It'd be like saying there are no 2h weapons in the game because they fail to meet your arbitrary standards.

They dont see her as an actual romance partner cause they dont hang out and talk to her? Which they dont get to out in the field with the others from what I saw either. Their content is the same, they talk in the same area. She banters too, its quite interesting listening to her.
