So I just got to the part of the game where you have the ability to choose a new divine. I found out you can support Cassandra, Leliana, or Vivienne. Can anyone give me some guidance here? The person from the Chantry seemed to say when she first showed up that they would leave your party if they became Divine - that's somewhat disappointing, I want to make Vivienne the Divine but she's a core member of my team.

Also, how does that work if Leliana becomes the Divine? Who becomes the spymaster?

I have the operations open on the War Table - "Support Vivienne" or "Support Cassandra." It says once I support one, I can't support anyone else. So I am afraid of going down this road until I know exactly what happens. If you can get them to stay with you AND make them Divine, that would be ideal for me.

I had a feeling that the new Divine would come from your group. Especially Cassandra. Vivienne was an unexpected turn. It would be nice if your female inquisitor could become the Divine too.

Personally, I have no idea as I'm nowhere near this point in the game, but I would think that no matter what else happens in the game there is a chance that either Cassandra or Vivienne might tend to lean towards being harsher as Divine. Leliana might be the more open-minded of these three options!

You don't really decide who became Divine, it's your choice through out the game that decide who get elected. The "support" is just a small increase in chance. You learn who was selected in the epilogue, so you won't lose anyone until you are done with the main storyline.

But they do leave after the storyline is complete? So, if I want to keep Vivienne around for hunting dragons post-main storyline, I shouldn't choose her?

Bump. If anyone could shed some more light, that'd be great.

You should be able to use Vivienne post-game even if she's Divine.

I got Leliana as Divine and she was still at the War Table after the game was over.  She said they were still making arrangements and she could help the Inquisition in the mean time.

1. What did you say to the Chantry representative when she first brought this to your attention?

2. Were the support missions in Orlais or Ferelden? I can't seem to find it.

For me Cassandra was made Divine(I just completed the game). I talked to her and she begs me to let her come along with me on more adventures. You can choose whether or not to let her back into your party. I can only assume its the same for Vivi

I think I was helpful for the most part.

I just read on wiki how Leliana would do as the divine, and i think it sounds perfect in my opinion... but somehow i don't want her to be the divine. I romanced her in DA:O, and she also said in DA:I (SPOILER ALERT!) "I will rejoin my love on her quest when this is done. For good this time". So i don't know! :(

My Warden is pretty unhappy, I can tell you that much. She never wanted anything to do with the Chantry even if she respects Leliana's rights to forge her own path. This will probably be the catalyst that finally separates them, as Amell really can't stay sedentary even if she was alright with this.

My Amell have nothing against the chantry, she just think mages should have the chance to be free for once. :)

Well now I'm curious- how would Leliana do as the Divine? I had Cassandra for my mine and I'm wondering if Leliana would be better. My warden would be okay with it, as long as they get to be together somehow.....

Leliana frees the mages and destroys the Circles.

i had no idea about the operations to support Cassandra or Vivienne. damn operation system again. Leliana is effective but insane. who would make a freaking assassin the leader of a holy organization. man i wish i could have figured it out and support Cassandra. i am inclined to believe that leliana is the default choice if one doesn't do the support operations. she probably had her spies playing the game and using the inquisition's name in secret.

Vivienne is just a ****** (IMO). i hate her the most (closely followed by Sara)

I was apparently not paying much attention to what I was doing because I was hoping to try for making Cassandra Divine on my first play, but I ended up making Vivienne the Divine.

And I had no idea she could even become Divine lol

I apparently need to pay more attention this time. >.>  I thought I was doing pretty good with noticing things BUT I GUESS NOT.  That seems like a pretty vital thing to miss lol.

What do you have to do to have the support options appear on the war table? They never did for me, although I told Leliana in conversation that I would support her, mostly because I romanced Cassandra and wanted to keep her around. Cassandra ended up becoming the Divine anyway... Now I'm wondering how the ending would have been different had Leliana become Divine instead.

First post on that page should give you an idea of what you need to do. I haven't had any operations arise from my playthroughs regarding it, only dialogue support which does very little in determining who becomes the divine. As you will see in the link above, it's mostly your expressed views on the chantry. My theory regarding war table operations is that they arise if you have inconsistent views on the chantry. Both of my playthroughs I've had contrasting yet consistent views, and didn't have an operation on the war table.

So could anyone just quickly summarize what they know of the different outcomes between hardened Leliana, softened Leliana, Cassandra and Vivienne?

I chose Cassandra in mine and in the epilogue it said she did an overall decent job with a reformed templar order and circle, but that there were rebel mages that refused to rejoin and went and started their own college who could potentially be a danger in the future (though that could have been because I chose to ally with the mages rather than conscript them).

My main play through has Vivienne as the Divine even though I supported Cassandra. Kind of glad though as I heard that Cassandra will break up with your Inquisitor if she becomes Divine. Vivienne seems to be doing a good job based on the ending I got.

Edit:

@yummysoap

I've read people give different endings for each character. My ending with Vivienne as the Divine says that she restored restored the Circle and Templar Order. Gave Mages more freedoms and that half of the rebel mages joined her new Circle and the other half stayed with the Inquisition.

It is little ridiculous that instead picking divine you end based on what you say about chantry to your companions...

Not to mention that i don't support views of those 3 candidates.

When the topic came up the first time I decided to ignore it/say that im unsure who I want to lead. Later on I encouraged Leliana to take the position after her quest to find the box left by the previous Divine, despite that the only "support operation" I had availiable for some reason was Vivienne's, since she would be my last pick for the position I didn't do it, she still got elected. :\ I guess she somehow became the default despite me never discussing the subject with her. Maybe the game assumed somehow I didnt want Leliana or Cassandra as the Divine, but honestly nothing seemed like I had to decide right away and I -did- encourage Leliana later on, a little dissapointing for me, but oh well.

I don't like Vivienne very much.
