Aside from the creature research, I've just been selling all my valuables, like wooden figurines, pendants, charms etc. Anything that doesn't have info or a description to examine.

I guess before I sell anymore of it, I want to ask: do I need this crap? Should I be hanging onto it? My inventory is only 60 slots.

Which brings me to two more questions: does my inventory space ever increase, if so, how? And will I ever get a storage chest at skyhold?

Valuables are the equivalent of Junk in past games.  Do your creature research then sell it.  Bioware stated a while back that there are no storage chests in the game unfortunately.  And you can use Inquisition Perks to increase your inventory space in increments of 15.  Though I'd say with how rare they are there's probably better uses for them but that's up to you.

Yeah I just did that with my perk point. Ha, but now you say they are rare, so hmm... wasn't worth it. That's ok.
