I'm. I'm not bitter and most certainly I do not care about fanservice. What I care about is an integrity of my elven character.

Your personal Fanfiction is not more important that anyone else's.

There a Mage fanatics who want the game to let them build a new Tevinter Imperium. Or Qunari fanatics who want the game to let them have a Qun follower who forces others to join the Qun. Or people who want to destroy the Chantry and magically genie-wish everyone in Thedas into Secular humanist atheists.

None of these people should ever get what they want. And neither should you.

I find a difference of a cosmic magnitude between large in game events and companion who shares ideals of my character.

Creative Director Mike Laidlaw said this, earlier this year:

"Because of how deeply enmeshed in the system companion characters are, we can’t just add them on the fly, part of them has to be shipped on the disc,” he said. “[This] has led to criticism that we’re forcing people to pay for content they already own.

“It’s not the case, but we’ve decided this time to not go that route. There will be no DLC party members.”

So nada on the extras.

No. I'm speaking about character, an elvish traditionalist. I have mentioned breeding for a reason. Conclusions, while on a low level and easy to jump on, are not the best friends. I'm not an expert, in fact I know close to nothing about how characters should be implemented technic wise but considering that I and many other people have already downloaded the game from Origin, 'on-disc' seems to be at least off. I would say that it is one hundred percent possible.

"On-disc" can also mean, as the game is shipped.....or unlocked, depending on the what it is played on. I highly, highly, highly doubt that they would include a character that is only on the origin platform, and not include it for other consoles. That would create a s**tstorm of a response from people.  As  per the previous quote, they got a lot of flack for doing the whole DLC characters before, which is why they said they wouldn't do it this time around, or again (most likely).

Best you can hope for is more options on people like Josephine, non companions which can be romanced, but placement is rather.....stationary.

@OP It seems like it is not gonna happen. However, you could always hope that one of them ea suits got wind of this and think that a DLC like this is going to make them money and forces Bioware to do the new companion DLC anyways. Guess you are wishing that them ea suits should've acted a bit more greedy now ah?

With a proper incentive, all is possible. I don't mind origin exclusive companion.

Precisely, this is exactly what I'm wishing for. I would bargain with Blinky Bill himself if it was to change something.

-You- may not mind an origin exclusive, but they got enough crap from players on both Javik and Sebastian, that they don't want to raise the ire of keyboard warriors, fans, and reviewers (These bashed them quite a bit for that move). Not to mention the official statement, so again, your best bet is prob a non companion option, if they choose to add that as a DLC.

I don't mind both official statements (especially when 'on-dis'c leaves an open gate to interpretations) and keyboard warriors. If they find it profitable then they will do it. I just hope for it.

Again, you may not mind, but once you run a business, you can see how bad doing something like that is. You are not taking any of the flack if they do such a thing, so it matters more what they think.  I am sure they won't want the kick in the nuts that something like this would do if they retracted on a statement they said a while back, or play on the same tactics.

Time will tell. I see no retraction here. If the over all gain will be bigger than potential loss then they will do it.

I have weird feelings about this. Guys should have women of different races and there has only been one romanceable female elves for men. On the other hand no dwarves at all for anyone. Also other than a few playful banters with Liara, there has been practically no talk of planning children with LIs (of course you can count Alistairs reasoning for not being with another race, but I think Human noble kinda negates that)

I am romancing Sera right now, and it seems really icky if she were straight that a male elf would try to romance her to try to continue elven progeny. I cannot imagine something she would dislike more. I am guessing a few male elves like that are part of the reason she hates the pro elf standpoint. It is kinda creepy. I guess as long as they never put it in the dialogue knock yourself out?

There is more 'children' dialogue than just with Liara.

Sera is not the brightest kind of elf. She does not fit a role of a character that I have suggested. It is not 'creepy' but perfectly normal.

Much more common with ME than DA, but it seems like several of the characters in this game sorta rebel against this concept. The idea of being with someone based on what you are rather than who. What I mean is I am all for headcanons but would find it kinda creepy for there to be dialogue on "We should be together so we can make elven babies" in fact many people were hesitant to romance Solas because they worried he would be like that. I mean the less pregnancy plots the better, especially in romances.

I even think some elves only being for elves makes sense in a way because they deal with a lot and can understand each other better that way. But it being just for procreation is pretty creepy. It is like those people who felt Sera should still be with a male elf and be convinced for the "race" as if her womb was apart of her character and like elven women should just make babies.

There is few more BioWare games than the ones mentioned and they include 'children' talk. I do not find it creepy but normal and necessary.

I consider myself to be a pragmatic person. To me selective breeding is a far superior cause than whims of the 'heart'.

Children talk is fine, but what you call pragmatic I call creepy. Not because it ignores the heart, but because it denies personhood. Also, almost always women are resticted far more than men in such cultures. And in the end, anyone controlling someone else's reproduction rights based on race seems very very messed up. never mind gay people always lose in such enviroments.

Sorry "breed" part had me laughing madly in here xD

When you say that like they "need" to breed as "must do if you are an elf"...I'm simply thinking of them then as sheeps, cows, goats, horses that must breed!

It's poor wording, but I understand the OP's point. I once had a crush on this Mormon girl, and while she returned the feelings, she outright told me that she would only let herself become romantic with other Mormons, as that was incredibly important to her.

Roleplaying as a true Dalish elf who sees his people as separate from other races would require that same mindset. "Breeding" isn't the best term to use, but it fits. He'd want to stick with his own race, possibly even his own clan, because that's an important part of him.

Granted, it won't happen, but there's no harm in making a forum topic so Bioware takes it into consideration.

Please, excuse me but I must refrain from further participation in this discourse. It is not time nor place to discuss such subjects in depth.

[on a side note: elves produce elves only by breeding with other elves. race plays vital part here]

I stand by my words: straight female elf supremacist is what I would like to see in the game.

"Breeding" is a good, strong word with a fine accent on the procreation's importance.

This is about breeding not romancing?  LOL, report coming in soon. :P    Characters are people, not for baby making. Someone said you can head canon that you are already attached to someone.

This is "Feedback & Suggestions". It's not far fetched to ask for a straight female elf, is it? It fits into the lore that Bioware wrote.

Yes, just write this.

"I want a straight female elf please."    Remove the breeding part, its derogatory to some.

Adding breeding made it heavily debatable. Causing issues and making characters look to be just as someone to make babies with.

Breeding is a lore established practise, widely happening in the Tevinter Imperium.

They went overboard on satisfying the non-straight quota of romance choices in order to dodge the inevitable protests they would have gotten had they left anyone out.

http://www.ign.com/w...Sex_and_Romance

I see there:

1 heterosexual female

3 heterosexual males

1 bisexual female

1 bisexual male

1 homosexual male

1 homosexual female

To me that is a strange mix, and really lacking in straight female choices especially considering I am sure that most people playing this game are, just statistically speaking, hetero males.

Good point.

I'm glad everyone got someone to love. Bioware showed some courage on this so thumbs up. That said, I hope this thread stays on topic.

I'm really hoping they will do some DLC on the Elf situation. Looks like they didn't ignore the elves, but I'm sure they could do more with it.

Considering the elf situation is one of the things that makes Dragon Age so good, I was looking forward to playing a male elf Inquisitor purely from a personal roleplaying standpoint. it seems strange that it was left out and I'm a little disappointed. And I know I'm not alone on this.

I don't know if at this point Bioware can do any thing about it (now the game has gone gold) unless they do a short romance in some DLC (and the love interest is no where else), but I would like to see it.

So, you dont want romance, you just want breeding... as Tevinter and Qun do then?  Still stick by my words.  :)

An elven ideal isn't "We should totally breed that person with this one over here!" like the Qun does, though. It is all about preserving ones culture and yes, I'm sure a ton of elves would look down on those that are involved with other races. But they don't go around and tell their people about their new breeding programs.

Edit: Maybe there will be a straight or bisexual female elf in the next game? I think that would be cool, but please, without the breeding dilemma.

Hilarious thread.

If you want to keep your character 'in character', the only logical thing to do is fail at romancing Sera and stay single.

Supremacy ideal covers breeding. No, they go and kill them like the elf who betrayed his race and ulture with a mannish andrastian.

I'm not interested in the 'maybe' other than straight.

Precisely, except she is not a clever type of elf nor she is feminine so I prefer to stay single after initial discourse.

A "clever type" of elf won't want to be your brood mare and won't be unboard with your ubermensch elf racial purity ideal.
