This I do not know exactly. What I know is that I will not comment nor use references from our reality. Elves were and still probably are the superior race. In the times of Elvhenan they were immortal, magic breathing entities. Keeping them stocked and breeding going is highly important. Merrill does not mention any specifics beyond importance of elf-elf breeding.

Why would the concept of lineage be particular to one reality? Parents have children, the child may take the name of one or both parents and be considered to be part of a nation or tribe based on the lineage system used by the parents. It's a thing.

You also stated that you want to have a certain type of heirs implying that you had a clear belief in a certain type of lineage system that could be applied to the game. That is you are either importing "references from our reality" yourself or basing your approach on a knowledge of the game world. You admit you're not doing the latter so?

I can understand how, in your head, your Inquisitor cares very much about securing the existence of the elven race and a future for elven children. And it makes sense that, to such a person, just one drop of non-elven blood would be too much. And certainly, the beauty of the elven woman must not perish from Thedas. But you do have to take developer resources into consideration. There's just not enough time, code, or disc space to please absolutely everyone.

Yes, Bioware makes it fairly clear that the original elven culture had been all but erased by time and multiple conquests.

But with magic, it is possible that it may not be gone forever (some GREAT story telling by Bioware).

I think the more challenging story/plotline would be one where elves could eventually get fairer treatment and can hold their heads high.

This is not [Elf Discussion] thread. Suggestion proposed by me is within available lore knowledge, so yes, I'm doing the 'latter' and yes I do apply patrilineal system as it is the healthy norm. I do no pay bigger focus to it and I will not do so unless lore states otherwise.

I'm not willing to accept such small importance of magick.

Personally I'm not interested in fairer treatment of elves but their domination over mannish races.

Of course, but suggesting male elf 'complete' romance is harmless. BioWare will decide what to do.

In Dragon Age, it is a binary choice. Elf plus Elf = Elf. Elf plus Human = Human. So we are talking about a choice that someone roleplaying a Dalish elf would naturally consider carefully. Also this is about roleplaying a personal choice here and not one of having a crusade to prevent other elves from breeding with humans.

I agree that the developers had limited resources and couldn't please everyone, but the title of this threat is "Straight Female Elf -dlc suggestion".

I don't know what the developers can do at this point, but Josephine Montilyet and Cullen show that an love interest doesn't have to be a companion.

And having seen the last scene, I'm really looking forward to the DLC.

I don't see a choice here; there is only one right thing to do.

I prefer to see a companion, to get more elven banter and interaction.

I'll just say that in DA, the humans have had domination over the elves for centuries.

You got to walk before you can run so I wouldn't hold my breath on elvish world domination.

Still that last scene of Dragon Age Inquisition could mean you won't be holding it long depending on how it plays out.

It's a very specific character you're suggesting. In many ways a female version of Solas. It might be interesting to have in a future DA game, it would go along with having more race specific content (which is something I definitely approve of), but I think your chances of having her for this one are nonexistent, as the devs have explicitly said they are not adding any more companions to this game.

I think any elf supremacy plans are going to have to wait until after the breach is fixed, at least.

I leave the door open. I don't believe in nonexistent chances.

I think in this case you may have to. You cannot leave a door open that has already been closed.

No, thank you, I must refuse. Words, statements, such trifling matters are of no concern to me. I stand by my suggestion.

Then I am sorry, but I think you will remain sadly disappointed in this instance. I simply do not think this is a decision that will be overturned. They have already said that the way the game is designed will make it impossible for them to add DLC companion characters. I think you will have more luck in your quest to get the male elf arms healed. :)

Maybe or maybe not. I would like to get a fitting companion for my elf.

They have stated numerous times that it's not going to happen in this game.  There will not be DLC companions or romances in this game.  Perhaps you should be rephrasing your request as a request for the next installment, since it's likely in development as we speak.

I get it that you want a female elven romanceable character, and I have no problem with that. It's the straight part that seems weird...as far as I understand such preference has never been part of the elven culture, nor are elves facing extinction. In fact, if you want a Tevinter straight female mage companion it would actually make sense.

If it's your character that wants pure blood children, bisexual female elves can very well offer that. Let's put it this way: traditionalist elves exist, but may or may not (likely not) share your passion in children production. What you want is slightly too specific. How is it different from a request of asking for a gay traditionalist Quanari because my character is a gay traditionalist Quanari?

I know only about one time when they have said it. Of course, nobody prevents BioWare from using this suggestion in the next installment.

I prefer straight character. Other combination than straight would imply romantic union in non straight 'romance'. I'm speaking about arranged marriage that would secure the purity of lineage. Merrill (DAII) speaks about importance of elf-elf unions. Specific? Sure. Solas is a fine example of specific.

It's not that an unexamined life is not worth living, it's just that it shouldn't be lived so loud.

Every second sentence you write reminds me of that phrase or helped me come up with it.  "[a] patrilineal system... is the heathy norm". Where did you come up with that other than from your own value system and prejudices? The Iroquois and Haida, as I stated, both used matirlineal systems. They were among the most advanced, powerful and feared tribes in North America.  The British presence in North America and the existence of Canada in iis early forms depended heavily on the British alliance with the Iroquois Confederacy in both economic and military matters.  The relationship of the British and the Iroquois resulted in the Royal Proclamation of 1763, which supplied the model for treaty-making and relationships with indigenous people across North America.  Amy change in the relative status between the Iroquois and the British legacy in the Canadian and US nations has more to do with technology and population than 'healthy'

It isn't something I looked into, but it's also apparent that the British Crown also incorporates the possibility of matrilineal succession. Centuries old.

I don't care about how you want to role-play. I just wish you would stop pretending your role-playing is based on an objective understanding of the DA universe, never mind your own world, and that you are not bringing your own values from your world into your play.

No one's going to have any acknowledged children in these games anyway. Just make up this LI.

Excuse me, I will not comment on our world's history nor I will commend you on your historical knowledge.

I do not pretend, I base my role-playing on the available lore information. It is a healthy norm in the world of Thedas. There is no reason to think otherwise.

It is irrelevant. Arranged marriage alone suggests purebred lineage continuation.
