Maybe I can confirm that this is a (super annoying) glitch (for me).

I just checked keep and go to playthrough world state.

Copied to editable worldstate and view it in tapestry.

My warden IS the king in playthrough world state.

Ah, I see. I remember something similar happening once to me. One of my world states spontaneously changed my Dalish Warden for my Mage Warden. Luckily it happened before the game came out so I had time to catch that.

I'm 30 hours into the game, all still made sense and seems in line with my DAO and DA2 imported from keep.

Until a point I reached Redcliffe, finds Connor (arl eamon's son) and start talking some sh*te about King Alistair.

My warden from DAO IS the king. Alistair returned to grey warden doing wardeny thing.

Damn the keep.

It is ridiculous to restart the game after 30hs of playtime, and with no guarantee Connor will say the correct line.

im in the same boat 30 plus hour 4 seperate characters and this is the first confirmation my Warden is king but the keep didn't import it right!

There are multiple things that could have caused it. Either you didn't export your world state, (it doesn't do that automatically, you have to manually export it) you accidentally didn't choose a custom world state when you were starting a new game, or you used a different world state since the Keep can only have one export of one world state at a time. Every time you export a different world state, it replaces the previous one that a new game will detect so you have to make sure you have the correct world state export first before making a new game.

i am 100% positive i exported my world state. I started a new game last night just to test this. The time stamp on the keep export and the new game creation matched precisely.

Blew through the hinterlands and val royal just to get access to redcliff and connor and he still says Alistar is king.

I have verfied this bug twice. You can do it in about an hour, test it yourself.

Could this be an issue with the flag in the game itself, rather than with the Keep?

Well, problems related to working imports is one thing, but I think some credit is due: DAO came out five years ago! A lot of people will have lost their savegames and might not even have the game installed anymore or have played it on a different system. Hell, A lot of people will have their one perfect playthrough that they wish to keep, and don't feel like playing through the game again.

This is an excellent solution, that does not depend on what system you're using, having to reinstall the game or having the save preserved. They could have gone all KOTOR on us and basically nullified any choices we've ever made, or forced us to make an enormous bank of saves to exchange if we had lost ours, but they went through the trouble of making it possible to create all of our choices in under 30 minutes.

The keep was a brilliant idea and a service to the fans of the series. Not that I disagree that it's sad if some people are having problems with importing the decisions and I hope it isn't too common.

Just found out on mine, at about 12 hours in, that my world state as far as Origins went is completely borked. Decided the go with my male mage-romanced Morrigan-most of the original party dead playthrough... but in Inquisition decided to make it a random elf female warden who died killing the Archdemon. DA2 choices seem to have stuck, but that's about it.

Means it didn't save the first, the Female Dalish elf is the default world state. I would go through again and see if the DA2 ones are correct, or if it was the default. Default is male mage for Hawke. You have to make all the decisions manually, because the keep doesn't make the choices for you, they said the way they were made the coding was just too bad for it to copy all the decisions. It mostly just "imported" your character from the previous game, not their choices.

I had the save ready and saved four days before Inquisition released, and made sure it was properly loaded and imported before starting the game. I guess for whatever reason it decided to dump the world state and go with the default.

That's two partial playthroughs wasted due to Keep import errors. They seriously need to either A: send you to the Keep to confirm your world state, or B: play the Tapestry movie THEN ask to confirm. Going through 15-20 hours of the game before you find out the Keep messed up is NOT cool.

I want to know who in Bioware ACTUALLY thought the Keep was a good idea. I would love to hear their reasoning.

I just play with the default options, unlike Mass Effect I can live with the default world state.

Fine, I get why they cannot import my saves that I have protected all these years so I could import into the next game.  Damage done, nothing to do about that.  What I cannot fathom is why it has to be on some stupid website.  Why not just have the functionality built right into the game menu.  Nice, simple checkboxes for your choices, it makes sure  there are no conflicts, and then you save it as a world state.  Right in the game menu.  Saved right on your computer.  No need to sync up with some website somewhere.

And, it's trying to pull data (how else would it have the picture of some of my old characters) from my old characters that had auto-uploaded to bioware's old site.  Data I had deleted because I had my saves locally that I was going to use to import.

P.S. - On another cool note, I now have oodles of worthless bioware points.  Happy to transfer them to someone if that's doable.

The reason its a website is to avoid console certification when patching. There's some limited DRM benefit but the patch issue is the real adnwwr. With a website they can fix on the fly.

It won't accept a male hero romancing Alistair in DA1 and Anders in DA2. Forces you to be a woman....

alistair was straight, you could not romance him as a male.  But the anders one, that is strange, because only sebastian is supposed to be straight, the other four romances are supposed to be bisexual.

Pre-release hype for Inquisition.

"Hey! Check this out! You can set up your world state however you want for Inquisition even if you've never played the previous two games! Be all ready to go! Learn what went on before!

... and if it makes you decide to buy the previous two games before Inquisition in released, so much the better! Cha-CHING!"
