Cass, Blackwall, Dorian, Vivienne. I'm looking forward to the next game where I'll get Cole earlier.

Cass and Blackwall really surprised me. I thought they'd be more gruff bland boring soldier types, but they're actually amazing.

I was really surprised at how my opinions were so different from how  I expected I'd like them - almost always, if I decide I'm going to like them, I do, and I don't like I'll them, then I don't. But DAI, yeah, have been thrown!

 

I thought I would really like Bull, Sera, and Solas. Yeeeeah, not as much as I thought I would! Solas is... this might be funny to say, I find him kind of intolerant... or smug? haha. Sometimes I  Sera is also REALLY rigid in her thinking, and everything is super black and white for her - she can be p funny tho, she's made me laugh. And Bull... I dunno. He just makes me uncomfortable.

 

On the flip side, I ADORE Cass and Cole and Cullen (and wow their names all start with C) and Dorian and Vivienne and Blackwall - either I thought they were going to boring or I straight out just dislike them, but no, I love them to pieces. Dorian and Vivi, in particular, I liked them instantly and I wasn't expecting that. (Although, for how much I like Cole, he doesn't really like me - I must work on that.)

I adore Cole, and we're good friends. I thought I'd be indifferent towards him. I also love Dorian, and Dorian loves me. We're best buds. Again, with the little pre-game knowledge I had I thought he'd disagree with me on certain politics, but we align wonderfully.

 

My favorite party to take places is Dorian, Vivienne and Bull. I call them team Sass N' Bash.

Cassandra, Iron Bull, Dorian, and Blackwall are my mainstays.

Hands down, Dorian. I don't think there are enough flattering adjectives to adequately describe him. Simply put, he's everything I could've asked for in a companion and has charmed his way to becoming my second favorite DA character after Morrigan.

Top 5 for me:

1) Dorian
2) Cassandra
3) Varric
4) Iron Bull
5) Vivienne

I thought I was going to like Solas because he brings up interesting topics of debate and challenges your views. Instead, I'm finding him to be unfairly dismissive and unpleasantly defensive. The best thing I can do is to try to understand him better in the future because as it stands, it's difficult for me to establish any sort of connection with him.

Really hard to choose. For me it is probably the best team in all Bioware games i played. But probably Cass, Varric and Sera. Solas also is very good.

I predicted right when I picked out my favourites and who among the companions my Inquisitor would be jelling well with. It's still early yet, but...

 

Dorian is right up there, first and foremost.

Blackwall was a surprise. I like him. I just wish he and Dorian would get along.

Iron Bull is very useful as a tank.

And Cole is so adorable in a freaky-deaky kind of way.

 

If we're travelling and uncovering unchartered terrain, the usual party members are Cole, Dorian, and Iron Bull.

 

If I'm expecting a huge battle, I switch out Cole with Blackwall, because I'll need two tanks to balance out Dorian and my mage Inquisitor.

Sera is #1 based on personality. Love her. She's giving me attitude and I'm LIVING for it!

 

Second best is Dorian for that @ss. You could bounce a quarter off of that thaaang.

Sera's my favorite, but Blackwall and Cass are right behind her.  I'm not much of a fan of the others.

 

I have never beat DA:O but spending that little bit of time with Morrigan, Alistair, Sten, and Leliana already makes me wish they were in this game.  It's like ME3 all over again; I missed Miranda, Thane, Zaeed, and all of them.

 

But yeah... Sera's always with me.

There's an interesting diversity of opinions in this thread. My favorite is definitely Solas (I loved his character and his romance). But I also really enjoyed most of the other characters, especially Cole, Cass, Dorian, Bull, and Varric. And even the characters I didn't get along as well with still had some great party banters

Everyone - can't really choose...but I'll put Blackwall at #1 since I'm romancing him, then Dorian (he's hilarious, and I love his snark!) and Varric at #2, and Solas at #3, with everyone else tied for the #4 spot, Have to say that sticking Blackwall and Solas together that one time resulted in some funny banter.

I like pretty much everyone on their own, but the various party combinations can lead to some hilarious or even touching moments. Sera and Dorian have some very interesting convos.

I love Sera, too. She and her accent are so adorable!  I've gotta play a female and romance her at some point.

 

I am pleasantly surprised at how much I like Viv. BioWare's descriptions of her did her no justice; she sounded like a power-hungry sociopath, but she's actually kinda nice, and what she says she makes sense.

Blackwall:  I have never had a more complete tank in my party, i took down my 1st dragon yesterday at lvl 13 and he was the only one not to die.  Personality wise, hes ok....  Little disappointed in his undying faith in the wardens though, especially later in the story.

 

Cassandra:  I re-speced her to be a 2 hand dps warrior.  I put more into attack for her than defense, but i put enough to where she should be able to off tank, even though she has skills to generate guard, she has trouble doing so.  Still one of my favorite characters, and my inquisitor's love interest.

 

Iron Bull:  Kept him as a 2 hand dps warrior, for his reaver spec.  I geared him pure attack, and hes a monster in dealing damage, but hes a glass cannon in tough battles, he goes down quickly.  Have to get him better armor to even have a chance.  Like his laid back personality, but his struggles with his other employers (qunari) kind of bug me.

 

 

Sera:  I really dont use her all that much, varric is my ranged dps homeboy.  So i cant really judge.  Her personality at times is funny, but other times i just want to smack her upside the head a bit so she have some sense knocked into her.  Also, have trouble understanding her dislike of elves... even the non-preachy ones.

 

Varric:  Bros to the close, what else can i say?  When i use a ranged dps, varric is my man.  Upgrade bianca regularly and he can hold down the dps spot better than any warrior can.  Love varric, always will....

haven't made it this far yet, but in the guide it talks about varric's personal quest....  apparently bianca the person is alive, even though the comics said she wasnt...  kind of confusing

 

Cole:  I dont use him, cause my inquisitor is a dual dagger rogue.  I do like his personality though, once you figure out wtf he's talking about at times, it starts to make sense.  I love the fact that every weird thing he does, like turnip burning actually helps other people, even though he doesnt tell you.  "why did you burn turnips?"  "They smell better."  Then you find out that some guy who was injured and dying a very painful death managed to pass peacefully cause he smelled his mother's turnip stew.  Funny, and weird at the same time.

 

 

Dorian:  I spec him heavy dps with maybe 3 points in spirit just for barrier.  Very useful, necromancer spec makes for some interesting options.  Love his personality, a friend of mine who affectionately refers to himself as "the greatness" is very similar to dorian in the whole narcissistic category.  Thinks of tevinter just like i thought he would too.

 

Solas:  My other mage, when i need a defensive mage, i go solas.  I will admit, when he was first released, i was disappointed.  Didnt like the whole bald thing for him....  His personality has taken that away, i no longer am bothered by the lack of hair.  His personality is very unique, but i do find a few places where he was disappointed in conversations where it didnt make any sense....

he was disappointed when i answered him about the time magic in redcliffe, its like wtf?  shouldnt you be fascinated by such a feat?

 

Viviene:  I really dont use her at all, dorian and solas are enough for me, especially since i dont use 2 mage parties.  Shes different from what i imagined, but i still have trouble liking her.  I just, idk i just have trouble liking her personality for some stupid reason.

I love everyone. It's a very hard task to choose but the ones I ADORE are Varric, Dorian and Cole. But then I remember the others and just can't, I love them all T_T

Dorian hands down. Gawd I wish i could romance him as a female...wont stop my inquisitor from flirting with him tho
