I'm getting used to the combat now.
This needs to be said right now: This game is GOOD

It should, as it's a much better RPG.
Time to pass the baton Skyrim!

I really like it so far. Is it perfect? Of course not. But is it very, very good? **** yeah, I lost my 14 hours playthrough because of a bad keep import and started another one right after that and I'm ~20 hours into that one. If a game does that kind of stuff to me I know its good.

I have been blown away by the game so far (25 hours in).
The scope of Bioware games have been always underrated so far.
Their scope always have been with characters and stories other than the sheer size of the world.
This time they delivered huge detailed world on top of usual Bioware characters and story and this is a truly ambitions game.
I'm happy to find others enjoying this game after reading so many negative feedback.

I give props where it is deserved. Nicely done with the spacious semi-open world design. Scope of the game is quite large indeed, visuals are good for most part and plot is not bad either so far. World saving aside, being in a position where people come to worship you is rather interesting. Whether that actually leads to some consequences later on remains to be seen (not that far in the game yet). And playing apostate dalish elf mage is hilarious when you consider the world and the state it is in.
This game also highlights how poor and rushed DA2 was. And it makes me sad to think that DA2 could actually have been a good game if folks working it had been given a year or two to actually make it properly. These people have the talent as long as they are given the resources and time needed for their work.

How can we enjoy the game with these terrible mouse keyboard controls that we have to fight with in every combat in the game? The gameplay is so bad that it is not possible to enjoy the game.
Obviously it comes down to prefernce and it's fair enough that you don't like it but I'm on PC using mouse and keyboard and haven't had any issues with combat. I'm playing on hard and find that it's challenging but very rewarding. I'm not using the tac cam however as it's way too restrictive and actually useless in my opinion.

Are you playing as a ranged combat character or a melee combat character and are you using the friendly fire option?

I'm playing as a melee, dual daggers. But no, I don't have friendly fire on.. haha, I think that might be too much for me to handle. ![]()

Hi!
I just wrote this for the OP, and want to add that yes, its a very good game so far (I just arrived at Skyhold).
There are some glitches, bugs and some perfomarce problems (pc+controller here, so, no problem with keyboard for me); but to be honest, those problems can´t even compare with the good things of the game!
The music, the lyrycs, all the diferent and beautifull enviorements, the strong composition of the party members/secondary characters, everyone has his own complex history! (wich makes them more "alive") just there to discover, and the exelent main plot so far are awesome!.
Maybe its just me, maybe its because I wait for this game to come sooo long, that i feel like, this is the best game in the saga so far. I never experienced so beatifull moments with the other 2. The way that the game makes you feel like you actually are very important, but not the tipycal "im the hero of the world", but by letting you be the hero little by little. To be honest, i never experiencied such a thing like in the events prior to arrival to Skyhold, it was beatifull! and its just the start!
So, thank you bioware, this time (so far) you really make an a exelent game! there can be bugs, errors, nobody is perfect, but THIS is the way to make greats games, and i will be happy to buy any future tittle if you keep it this way. Congratz to all the development team for this masterpiece.

I'm just pootling around on ******-easy difficulty and I'm thoroughly enjoying it to be honest.
Just recruited the mages and now they want to go close the breach. Like that's gonna work.
But before that I've found a dwarven place in the hinterlands and have the key. Gonna take Varric in there tomorrow and have a look around.

For an EA game it's good... but nothing compared to what Bioware is and has been capable of. There is a lot the game does right and a lot is does very wrong. I wouldn't go singing praises, but it's holding my interest.

The game is great for me. I think majority of people agree that the game is GOOD. But it probably EXCELLENT if performance issues were not there to start with and the clunky controls with KB&M (for PC gamers). And the INDOOR tac-cam.. T.T

...and the inability to see your party through all the flashing lights, and the rather humdrum dialogues, and the uninspired side quests, and the lack of tactics in combat, and the bog standard fantasy music...
But the world is big, I'll give it that.

Tis. Loving it so far. Very impressed, and feel like they've earned back my trust after DA2.

I am not saying the game is not good just that the PC controls are making it very difficult to concentrate on the story and other things in the game.

I'm having a blast with my PC version. I rarely use the tactical mode because of the camera and as a consequence, I was forced to keep FF off. While that's bad - I really looked forward to playing on Hard with FF on playing mostly in tactical mode - it's the only aspect of the game that isn't amazing. I start every playing session with a big smile of anticipation. The number of games that managed that can be counted on one hand.

Got this on PC, and I spent all of yesterday playing. I plan to do the same today. I don't how long it has been since I did that with a game before.

The game is really great. But i have huge problems playing with tac-cam especially in the forest. The main problem is that those trees, buildings, etc are blocking a top down view (Tac-Cam) so i believe the issue are due to the FrostBite Engine unable to reveal ceilings.
I hope it can be fixed but i seriously doubt it. Indoor Tac-Cam is really worst. Am i supposed to play as an action game and not tactical?

^ I actually agree with you - I also found the tac-cam difficult to use. I have spent a lot of time in 3rd person, even though when the game was announced I assumed I would be tac-cam all the way.
It is not a game ruining experience for me, but I do know what you mean.

I agree completely that the game is absolutely amazing!
I am a HUGE Mass Effect fan and this game has reached the top of my favorites list with the ME series.
Dragon Age for me was always the step child to Mass Effect, but now it's earned its right at Mass Effects side as my two favorite game series of all time!
Kudos BioWare for making the two games that top my list of favorites. AWESOME GAME!
I could sit here and name all the things that make me so happy about this game, but I don't have the time, and I am not sure this forums would give me the word limit to do so.
Thanks BioWare for an awesome game!

For me, it is after the first 10 hours official:
DAO was awesome and I enjoyed it without end
DA2 was okay, I liked it even with its apparent flaws
DAI I am in love with right now, and DAO is looking quite jealous at her for the moment. I vote for bigamy!
So all three Dragon Age games are actually good to me. Quite a nice track-record here. And I pity all others who are unable to enjoy it for whatever reasons. Maybe focus less on the things DAI does NOT have, and more on the things it DOES HAVE? And does good? But that question already invites the usual answers ![]()

Control issues and the lack of companion tactics and such bring it down...but the world itself is amazing..easily one of the most amazing worlds i've seen so far in a game.
