Not that I have noticed, at all.

 

It's all RNG by the looks of it, considering lately I've been finding sweet gear like item level 1 daggers and stuff.

 

Finally found a Unique ring but it's nothing amazing

Having just 3 chests in shop, with difference between them being amount of items only makes me think that main acquisition method for advanced gear is supposed to be from Treasure Rooms, and playing on higher difficulty gives gear with higher item level.

Or pray to the RNG gods. I got a level 21 epic bow from a large chest in store while my Archer was level 7. He dominated the scoreboards since (not to mention being able to solo routine all of a sudden from being lowest on scoreboard prior to bow dropping).

I promoted my Necro, and got 2 purples in 2 chests before hitting level 8, whereas before I only got one purple bow a couple days ago.  Probably just coincidence, though.  Making chests have better loot if you promote your character means chests are tied to individual characters and not random at all, and that wouldn't make sense, really

Its mainly the gold increase but thats about it. Im about to promote my Arcane Warrior a 5th time and nothing has really changed in terms of items i get. Its all randomized.
