I spent forever to collect most of the shards, then said that's enough with 13 of 15.

 

Went to the Solasam and opened the door to "Fire Captured'.  Completed.

Went to Open either of the other two rooms ('Spirit Calmed' and 'Cold Endured'); both said I couldn't open the door without more shards. 

 

Spent another two hours falling off the ledges of cliffs to get the last two shards.  I have all 15 of 15 shards.

 

Returned to Solasan and once again see message I need more shards:

 Message reads:  Cold Endured - 2/6 collected

                             Spirit Calmed - 2/12 collected

 

I have already collected all 15 shards!  Anyone know how to complete?

you need 15 shards period, collected from any region. hope this helps

You used all the shards on the fire doors. Go to other areas to get more.

The shards are consumed when you open the door? that seems lame. My log shows I have 15 shards collected.

So if you collect more shards than required to open the door, you can't complete the quest?

Door 1 - need 6
Door 2 - need 6
Door 3 - need 12?

That's 18 shards when only 15 are around.

No one else is having problem?

There is no problem, get shards from another area and you could potentially open all 3 doors. That's the point of the quest, you can't finish it just with shards from the oasis, you need to collect them from everywhere and return to ''hand them in'', so to speak.

I am having this problem as well. I have completed the shard collection quests in the Hinterlands, Storm Coast and Oasis, but cant open any of the last doors. I have moved from Haven to the Skyhold and unlocked new areas. Are there more shards to collect in these areas?

It starts counting from the moment you pick up the quest, unfortunately. And yes, there are definitely more shards to be found.

nope. there's doors within doors, that should get you all the way through one area of doors and be enough to open the first door of a second.

Yeah, I collected all the shards from 4 areas and still have yet to unlock all the doors. Keep collecting guys!

I am not positive that I didn't mess up in some way, but you don't seem to get enough shards to do all three paths fully. I am currently at a point where I am pretty much done with everything but the final quest series and I have opened two of the paths fully and am missing 6 shards to open the final door of the final path. I double checked my quest log and every map and I have gotten every shard available. The final quest series does not open up another area to explore.

Wait, you mean you don't need to find EVERY shard on the map? Wish I'd known that before doing that jumping puzzle....

What they mean is there are 3 unlockable paths in solasan, each requiring 6-12-18 collected shards to open so what you need to do is collect shards on every map to be able to open it.(i am assuming you need to collect all shards on every map to fully open all 3 paths and by doing so open the top floor gate as well, i have so far fully opened 2 paths and on second door of the 3rd path).

Has anyone tried to find the shard closest to the Intrinsic Pool? It's completely missing from my playthrough and driving me nuts! I mark it with the blue light pillar toggle, but the shard just isn't there at all. Will this mean I won't be able to open one of the doors in the temple?

Usually, the shard not being at the location (and I use the blue marker as well) means the shard is farther down.  In this game, height plays a big factor.  Go down a level or two (isn't there a midlevel walkway?) and try to get back to that area.  From the right angle, you can see the blue beam farther down the pit. (grotto? hole?)

I've spent hours collecting every shard in every area of the map and the last door (for it's the cold endured) still needs more shards to open. Is this a bug or what?

I'm certain there is a bug, I had enough shards collected within the Forbidden Oasis and then I was short three with no more avialable in the region. Still they give us the option of using shards from other regions, which is good.

You need to collect shards across every map in the game to open all the doors. I managed to open all of the doors but only because I collected every shard in every map, including maps that are only unlocked later on in the story when you progress the main campaign. You will unlock more maps and shards as you progress the main story

What I mean is I'm at the last story quest and have discovered every region in dragon age inquisition. I have collected every single shard In and outside the oasis, yet I'm still short on shards. Is that on purpose, was someone at bioware just bad at math or is it a bug?

If your missing shards you have to find more ocular things. They will reveal more shards. You probably just missed one or two

i'm having the same issue on PS4. i looked above and there doesn't seem to be anything there. in fact, it looks as though you can see an outline of the shard glowing with nothing there, and right next to it is the blue marker. so... i think it's a bug.

There is exactly enough shards in the game to open all the doors however you need to pick up all of them in all regions to be able to do it.
