I just started and i ran into a few things i cant figure out.

 

1. How do i get past barriers that block a cave it came up with some kinda tool tip but went away to fast could not read it.

 

2. How do i sprint i tried all the buttons on 360 controller and cant figure it out or do i need keep following main story since i have stopped that.

Are you playing on PC? If yes, you only get one option on the ground: run. On a mount, you get two: run or sprint (by holding down the sprint button).

 

If you are on console, you can walk or run on the ground, and I think run and sprint on a mount (not sure about that last one because I haven't played on console, perhaps someone else can confirm if you can also walk on a mount).

One more thing in shows you can buy upgrades for varric how do i enable them or are they on by default?
