How much damage reduction does the armor actually apply? Should I choose melee defense or armor? Or magic defense, range defense. Is armor reduce all damage sources or just physical damage(which is melee and range)?
How does Armor Rating work in Dragon Age: Inquisition?

The armor is straight up damage reduction for the total armor amount, but only for physical (melee and ranged) damage, I believe. Defense is percentage damage reduction for that respective damage type. I don't know which is calculated first (defense or armor).
