I guess they let us grind companions' approval after all, it comes in the form of defeating specific enemies that run contrary to a party member's personal philosophy/beliefs. So far I got red templars for Varric and darkspawn for Blackwall. Does anyone know the others' (I'd guess venatori for Dorian)? I'd appreciate the information as I tend to not rotate my party very often in this installment.

Thanks catuta. In the case of The Iron Bull, will any lizardkin work (wyverns, dragonlings)? I guess so, because as far as I know Dragons do not respawn.

I think only the high dragons, but it grants huge approval from him.

I always thought it a bit odd to gain approval killing darkspawn all the time.

Just killed a bunch of Venatori with Bull, Cassandra and Sera, no approval gain with any of them. Well Bull, I guess we're going dragon hunting next!

Bull gains varying levels of approval from killing dragons. The one in the Hinterlands netted me 'Greatly Approves', while the one in Crestwood just got me an 'Approves'. I'll test the others, but I imagine they vary too.

Just adding to the thread, killing undead also gives Blackwall approval.

Solas is relatively easy, just let him tell stories and activate artifacts :P

Just asking him questions seems to shoot his approval up haha.

Yeah he certainly does like to hear himself talk  . I found he had the easiest approval to raise in conversations.

Bring him along when you go to the Exalted Plains.

Apparently it's not all about killing, Cole is when you do the little things to help people, like placing flowers on a graveyard a loved one can't visit, just like he himself would.

Saving people (who Cole thinks deserve saving, anyway) is a huge boost, too.  Those seven or so wagons of poor people sent off to the Red Templars/EEEEVIL mages at the Quarry in, uh, I think EdL?  Saving each gets a Cole approval, even if he's not in the party.

Dorian is the one who seems to like killing the Venatori; at least, the first three camps got me approval from him.

If you have Cass with you when going after her five 'high profile targets', she'll get a greatly approves and an approves from them (if she's not with you, it's just double approval).

Solas seems to occasionally approve when you activate an Elven artifact, but it seems utterly random, and doesn't happen more often then it does happen.  More often, generally respecting history (especially elven history) works.  Oh, and pissing off Grey Wardens, for some reason.  Yep.

As said, Blackwall gets approval from killing darkspawn groups, and Varric from killing the people with the red lyrium.  And like other companions, they get approval by doiing their quests- Blackwall when you find warden stuff, Varric when you destroy the red lyrium, Viv when you find the circle tomes, and so it goes.

I've just started to explore Storm Coast (at the 30-something hour mark, lol, all I did there before was get Bull), and I've been getting approval from Blackwall for the bandit/mercenary dudes near the first camp.

What about Cassandra? Apart from the enemies on her quest.

Also when you're passing judgement what results get approval from Cassandra? I've only done Alexius so far and executed him and I don't think I got anything from her.
