Hello BioWare employees!

Let me first say that I know that it has nothing to do with you or any of the people that made the game, I know that, and I look forward to playing it when the game gets to me.  That said, I feel it is necessary to share that when my Inquisitor's Edition of the game, the one with all the goodies like the map and the lock picking kit, arrived at the home of my family, there was damage to the box that it was shipped in, as well as damage to the contents inside the box.  There were a couple of the lockpicks broken and not in the sleeve/holder thing, the coins were strewn throughout the box, the padding for the larger items (like the Inquisition symbol) was not in the proper place nor protecting the items at all, and the little statute of what I think is a lion's head is broken because the decoration that's above the head is not attached anymore.  The box that it all came it appeared to be damaged as well, but I'm not sure if that was a part of the theme/design.  I have not held any of the objects myself, but I was shown them over Skype and could see the damage that was done.  It looked as if someone had either opened up the box, played with the stuff, and threw it back in, or it was all thrown in when initially packed up.  I called GameStop and they put in a replacement request for the box, but could not promise me that they would be able to replace it because of how limited the item is, and said that if it cannot be replaced, I can send the whole box back for $100 or I can keep the box and get $20/25,000 PowerUp Points as compensation.  Once again, I'm not blaming nor expecting anything from BioWare itself, but I felt it was important to share with you how poorly your products can be treated, either by whoever put it together or while it was in the warehouse storage.  And while I'm saddened by the damage, if I'm not able to get a replacement for the box, I have no intention of returning the entire thing because I love Dragon Age so much that I'd rather have some broken and (very) poorly handled objects in my box than not have the box at all.

Looking forward to playing the game very much!

-Don

I posted this in the other thread too. Ugh. I didn't want to believe this after reading it, but I just received mine. The latch on the front was broken...missing a screw as well. Inside...it was nightmarish. The map pieces were not in the packaging, all loose and most of them broken. The castle piece has a chunk broken and is rattling inside of it. One of the lockpicks wasn't even in the pouch, and snapped in half. The Steelbook has a nice scratch in the cover. Lifting out the first tray to reveal the items beneath, the coins were loose. Hell, I don't even know how this is possible considering they had a spot...underneath the Inquisitors journal.

So incredibly disappointed.

Sounds like the people working in the warehouses had a little game of kick-about. I hope this issue gets sorted out. You spend all of that money, you expect the product to be worth every penny.

Yeah I went through all this too. Owl icon broken in half, the badge was separated into two pieces and some of the rays of it were snapped off. One lockpick was also snapped in two. Dent in the steel book and.... the box? Both hinges had all the screws loose inside the thing. The lid was completely separate from the bottom once I removed the sleeve. Also, the moulded compartments had damage. This is why I wish they had sticked to lining the box plus clear plastic moulded clamshells. These 'moulded' compartments weren't nearly moulded enough and left a face of everything open to damage. Plus the box can only be used to store the damaged things, unless I choose to rip out the compartments and line it myself.

Sigh.

Wow. All mine had was one of the golden exteriors corners was broken a bit.

Agree with the quality of products too. Didn't they advertise as "real" lockpicks? Not weird plastic? Also, anyone know if the quill can actually write, or if it's just a feather?

Upside, the journal, map and coins are nice!

Yea, it sucks, and it's not BioWare's fault directly, and I wanted to make that clear because they get enough grief over things I didn't want this to sound like that.  I'm hoping the issue isn't very common, only seen a couple posts on this, including the replies here, so hopefully we're just the unlucky few.  Like I said, I requested a replacement box from GameStop, and they're checking if they have any more in stock.  If you guys wanted to do that, I'd say wait until Monday because they won't process anything over the weekend (said they would know for sure by Friday for me, and I called on Friday).  Also, you're going to have to call them to find out, they won't e-mail you or anything, so I'm gonna have to sit on the hold line for however long any time I call to check.  I would appreciate a reply or message from BioWare that they saw my post/other people's posts with similar circumstances, just because I love the company and will continue to support them, and I don't want this kind of thing to happen again and damage the company's reputation.

Yea, I hope so too.  I posted this here in the first place just to make sure that whoever they entrusted this responsibility to screwed up at least once, I wasn't expecting so many similar, although not quite as severe, circumstances.

I was disappointed too, and I haven't even examined the damage myself.  It was sent to my parents' house because I didn't know where I was going to live when I ordered it.  I imagine it's worse than what I could tell over Skype, but my dad described it pretty well.

Yea, something like that.  I figured that it was just a rush packing job, but hearing these other stories makes me think otherwise.  At the very least I'll get 25,000 PowerUp Rewards points/$20 in GameStop money, so it's better than nothing.

Yours sounds like it may be worse than mine is, which is pretty amazing.  The compartments certainly added a nice look, but I'll take function over fashion, especially if fashion leads to such total damage.

I never really expect anything but cheap plastic (except for maps, those I usually hope for the best, but not the toys), but cheap can only be tolerated to the point where it doesn't break on the way/in the warehouse, or wherever it was when it broke.

Also, Mike Laidlaw reported on his Twitter that he had received numerous reports about this and said to contact TriForce, the company responsible for the box, at jgray@ProjectTriForce.com.  Here is his tweet: https://twitter.com/...855828101402625.

Mine arrived in good condition (minus a little mark on the box), but the store had me open it in front of them to check that nothing inside was broken; they said several other people had things broken inside due to them not sitting in their slots properly during transit, so it seems to be a common problem.

Yes, I got home from the hospital 5 months after the game release.  My wife sent me pics at the time.  Now that I am hope, we will say, EA has been unhelpful.  I do love DA, and I did order this primarily to get the tarot card set, b/c how cool is that?

I don't want to send my box off, because I'm afraid they will give me some lame credit, and I would rather have the broken things than no things at all.

It saddens me that the real issue is that nothing was packed appropriately for transport.

Any carrier is going to treat your stuff like crap.  It's up to those who package it to help keep that from happening.  I was a retail manager for years to put myself through college.  I would put the onus on the EA warehouse.  Seriously bad move.

In the end it just makes me sad.  It looks like nothing will be able to be done; however, I am very grateful to the peep that linked me to this forum.

If you can find the right type of people on Bioware forums, it makes all the upsetting frustrations let you know your not alone.

I feel badly that this happened to anyone else.  I wish EA cared; they do not.  In the end, BioWare cares enough about their product to give us something to play with and replay with value.

I do think someone owes us an apology; however, the peeps that actually messed up the stuff would be incapable of a sincere apology, because warehouse jobs suck.

There is noway to make it right.  If there was, I doubt EA would bother.  At least I got the tarot cards I wanted.

EA doesnt have warehouses. The company that made the box is at fault.

I have met the similar problem, too! Some of the four statues are broken. And unfortunately I bought the item from another country (got somebody deliver it to my location) and now it is impossible to find out who should be responsible for that. I'm not going to blame anyone for this but since I've found that many also meet the same problem, I'd say next time the limited edition must be solid. It's already expensive and it must be SOLID. The fans who buy the limited edition deserve the best service.

While I was lucky that I didn't have anything broken, the stuff was in disarray because as said above, the slots don't really fit properly or have anything to properly affix them to the lid of the box to prevent them from moving around?

I think the problem with breakages that everyone's having is that the plastic that some of the stuff is made from is extremely flimsy and rather brittle... I found that out when I accidentally broke one of the lockpicks while trying to use it to get another that had fallen down the side of the box?

Would have been nice if we'd had the goodies made from metal, so it was a little bit more robust?

Even with metal it would not have worked. Things made in China are crap, and Triforce is just exploiting cheap labour.
