I believe it is time that this sickness gets a proper modern name. It is obviously a variant of MDAS, Mutant Deformed Arms Syndrome, and this variant should be known as Chronic Tripartite Male Elven MDAS, or CTMEMDAS.

any idea when they will fix this? I went to start a male elf last night but ended up stopping because I cant handle his deformed little arms.......immersion breaking!

No idea. Maybe never, considering all they tell us is they are aware of the bug.

I don't normally post in the forums but I just purchased this game and was hoping to roll a male elf mage. I spent 20 minutes getting the face right and then started the game only to be be totally disturbed by the body of my main character. Don't get me wrong, I fully expected the elven characters to be more slight of build than the humans but this is just absurd. If I'm playing a male character, I want him to look like a man! The model is broken and as others have pointed out in this thread, just using the same model as Solas would easily solve this. It looks terrible and makes playing as a male elf a non-starter for me.
In the meantime, I have created a Human Warrior and will use that character for my first playthrough but I sincerely hope that Bioware do something about this. I've done some googling and we are not just a few fussy people. This is a well-known issue and considering all the patching that has already taken place, I think this should be tackled sooner rather than later. Fingers crossed that by time I get to my second playthrough this will have been fixed.

As it happens, I'm elfing around and I found some screenshots of what we have to deal with (mostly broken arms but had one shot of moobs too):
Dalish Elf has always been my favorite. And I get a long 10 years old boy with broken arms. WTF? This above all those wtf-moments I already have every minute I play. How did this happen? HOW? I hope Dorian is gentle with his broken arms, not to mention his...nevermind. He is all bones, broken bones, and looks like a spider in beige pajamas. Solas has good body, WHY DOES NOT MY ELF HAVE THAT BODY TOO? Can anyone give me a sane answer to that? NO? Thought so.

Yeah, Solas' character model is perfect - both in different armors, in cutscenes, and in-game in general. Dunno if he uses a different one, or what - but it's pretty sweet. Then again, his armor choices are way cooler than the PC elf's.
My theory is that the PC elf is the son of a Dalish elf who had relations with one of those boneless women that were flopping around town in DA2, and thus their offspring was born with such arms. Could've been worse... Could've taken more to the mother's side. Then he'd look more like some sort of elven jellyfish.

Solas uses PC model. His clothes make him look bigger. I presume that BW realised that they have botched the work and decided to at least make our companion look decent.

I don't think so. I think rather they didn't notice an issue with the shoulders because elf specific clothing hides it. Same with Fenris in DA2.

I do think so. There are only few elf specific armours and many more that are not, not to mention glued arms occur even in elf specific armours. What is worse, it is almost 5 months after release and they did not fix it yet. Amateurs work, botched race and pathetic patching. Cesspit

People have been complaining about this basically since the game was released and Bioware have done nothing about it...Not a good sign. It's a damn shame too because I think a lot of people would like to play the game as a male elf. It's got to be one of the more popular race/gender combos out there and this issue really makes that choice less attractive (personally I can't do it).
Might have to wait until moders can get to it (which might be a long time from now). I really like the game too but this is just a big problem for me because that was the race/gender I was looking forward to rolling most and it's broken. Damn shame...

You should try to sign up for the next patch. I think patch 6 sign-ups are closed but we could use someone in there with this issue on their mind.

Okay, this seriously looks like a female body, which is unnerving because a male elf is one of the characters that I want to play next. I had hoped Bioware would fix this by now. But I shouldn't get my hopes up, Black Emporium probably won't even have new hairstyles...

I don't have time for it and to be honest I do not think it would change anything except for puting me in NDA shackles. They very well know about this issue. They have promised good looking elvhes: they have lied by showing us bust of male elf that cannot be recreated with character creator and delivered abominations that we currently see in the game.
Father and his 12 y old son: Ridiculous, really.
