I don't have time for it and to be honest I do not think it would change anything except for puting me in NDA shackles. They very well know about this issue. They have promised good looking elvhes: they have lied by showing us bust of male elf that cannot be recreated with character creator and delivered abominations that we currently see in the game.
Father and his 12 y old son: Ridiculous, really.
Yet another day when I'm all "wtf they were thinking wtf they were thinking". Like how could they think this is OK, even remotely? (and how did they think the beige pajamas were ok even remotely are they blinded by themselves or what is the problem here someone needs to be sacked obviously)
I find it INSULTING that hey gave Solas this good, nice body and we have to tolerate a spider in beige pajamas, ass so bony Dorian will have...nevermind. And those shoulders MY GOD.
I HONESTLY FEEL SO ATTACKED RIGHT NOW.

I've managed to do a whole playthrough with a male elf but every time it was conversation time it was very difficult to not be distracted by the broken arms being absorbed into the body.

Which patch? When? How?
It feels like Bioware is rebuilding DAI considdering the time they take for releasing the next patch. Lots and lots and even more issues to resolve. That's what they get for rushing out a game as they did with DAI.

Solas has exactly the same model as PC. His clothes make him wider. He suffers from glued arms too during cinematic but it is less visible. I guess BioWare did realise that elvhes are botched and simply covered things up for at least a companion. There is a reason why they were promoting the game with Solas and fake elf bust that can't be recreated in the game with character creator. They should have sticked with playable humans only if the quality of their modelers work is amateur worth.
These guys think it is ok to keep one of the main races broken for 5 months after release. It is a joke, they are a joke.

Just to confirm this...there was some game update on the xbox 360 version of the game today and the male elf STILL has slumped in upper arms. I have a two handed warrior male elf and Blackwall makes him look ridiculously frail in comparison. I play with Sera...and HER arms are fine enough, as a archer she is pretty petit but my 2 handed WARRIOR elf looks atrocious even next to her.

After spending yesterday digging through the web for any information I could find on this, I actually think you're probably right. All I could find were dozens of threads in various forums and Reddit where people brought this up and complained/requested a patch. Couldn't find anything from Bioware acknowledging it as a bug and certainly nothing where they suggested that it would be fixed.
Their priorities are still firmly on maximizing their profit yield from this title; which means DLC, fixing exploits, etc. My educated guess would be that they are well aware of how poor the male elf model looks but have made the decision not to do anything about it. Basically the time and resources that would be required to fix this make it not worth it in their eyes.
In the short run I decided to try not to let it ruin my fun and have started over with a human male mage. Not what I wanted to do but I can deal with it. In the long run, modders will eventually find a solution. At the very least, I hope Bioware don't make this mistake in future games. It relects poorly on them as this was a glaring issue that cannot be missed. It's not just the broken arms or the non-existent shoulders. It's the awkward animations and the disproportionate head/body ratio. The character model is just terrible and I find it amazing that it made it into the final game.

I found this post, that an EA staff member acknowledged the issue back in the beginning of December, but lo and behold, 4 months later and still broken. The incompetence is maddening.
I still have yet to play this game, as I am awaiting a fix, but I swear I think I am done with Bioware.

They managed to make a game that never crashed for me (or well, it did one single time) to consistently crash at the same point after character creation.
Way to go Bioware, way to go.

There's no way to fix those arms without fixing the shoulders. So that means an entirely new character model for elves.

I have no problem with it. Six months should be enough to do it. 'GOTY' with one of the main races botched. Garage artist level. Good that at least people responsible for it don't work in some life depending business, that is I hope so.

It is really jarring that a male elf Inquisitor runs around the entire game with broken arms. Well, either that or he's a mutant. Whatever the case, it can't be healthy and the arms won't be able to perform many of the strenuous motions that arms are supposed to.
Surely this is a bug in the model and not intended. The female elf Inquisitor has even thinner arms, but as they are not deformed and appear to behave like human arms, the female elf Inquistor doesn't exude the constant aura of wrongness that the male elf does. The male elven companion doesn't have deformed arms either.
I believe the same artist that did the elf also did Miranda. In ME2, in the squad selection screen, Miranda's arms are even worse than the elf.....
So, have some cheers... the artist is improving!!

Having the same issue. And it only seems to show up during cut scenes and in the Inventory screen. Running around doesn't seem to to have the same issue, that I've seen.
And I finally made a male elf that I liked and could stand in cutscenes. ;-; -is sad panda-
Anyone know if there's an armor that doesn't show it or is it pretty much just the rigging?

Just checking in so see if this has been fixed yet? I have owned this game for over a year, but haven't been able to play it because this issue drives me insane.
Also, EA acknowledged the issue back on Dec 2nd, 2014, so if they haven't fixed by now, that is pretty pathetic.

Once EA is done, they truly are done. They have a small window for patching on their games, but that window closes eventually. A lot of their games have long running bugs and/or annoyances.

So... you can't play this game with other races just because the male elf PC isn't good looking... Riiight... The female elf is okay and they practically share the same appearances, so why not playing a female elf instead? Her voice acting kicks ass.

Imagine that some people project themselves into characters they play. For me it would be unspeakably wrong, disgustingly heretical to even think about playing a female character in RPG where I'm shaping a hero after me. They do not share the same appearance. Some people bought this game wanting to play as an elf, botched, pathetically broken male elf model is taking away a lot of joy from gameplay.

Oh I can imagine clearly, I just think it's pathetic the way you are crying over one broken option while there are plenty of other options to play as. BioWare will never fix this issue, so either you deal with it, get a PC and mod the male elf quizzy or you move on. This thread will never go anywhere, they already acknowledged the issue but chose to move on instead. Either you do the same or you stay around and keep complaining until you turn into a pile of dust. Your move.

Game was advertised with all races and sexes. Clearly male elf is botched. For some people there are no other options necause they have purchsed the product with male elf in mind. As customers they have every tight to get it fixed. There is no mod that fixes it. The only person I see crying is a hurt Teddie. Knowing these forums I would not be surprised to see some BioWarekin who identifies oneself as company and takes things personally.
Also, they did not move on, it is called 'left things broken'.
