So...there is possiblity of romancing Cassandra and not having her becoming a Divine? I really like the romance subplot and I just can't stand a thought that I could lose her to Chantry.
So please tell me good people, is that possible?
I just finished a playthrough where I romanced Cass and Leliana became the Divine. Cass ends up staying with the inquisitor, as opposed to if she is elected which some say hints that the romance is ended.
You have to say/do some anti chantry things though, which means at the beginning her approval dips a little. Fortunately you have a quest that gives you "Greatly Approves" and "Approves" for each of the 5 people you kill. I ended up killing 3/5 before I could begin romancing her, 4/5 just to have a little safe room.
Here is a total of all my decisions:
Leliana Becomes Divine -
Free mages/Anti Chantry/Chantry Failed dialogue with Dorian, Vivienne, etc..
Freed mages at Redcliffe and made them my ally.
Did not let Leliana kill traitor at Haven.
Romancing Cassandra
Told Chantry representative I needed both Leliana and Cassandra (So far, do not see any operations at war table to support either candidate)
Sided with Celene at Winter Palace
Allowed Wardens to stay
Told Cassandra to forget about the seekers
Told Cassandra that what she wanted for the chantry was not what I wanted (I think this dialogue plays a key role as well.)
Told Cassandra that there were other ways to help the chantry.
Also told Cassandra to refuse in romance dialogue if she was chosen. (Don't know how big a role this plays as I believe I did it in my first playthrough and she became Divine then).
Told Leliana not to kill the cleric in her personal quest. (I'm not so certain at this point that having her hardened or not impacts her candidacy, as much as it seems to impact the sort of Divine she is. In a youtube video with her as divine, she was ruthless and killed a lot of the sects that rose up against her. In mine, she was able to peacefully get them to come together.)
Supported Leliana for Divine through dialogue with her. (2nd playthrough that I didn't have an operation on the war table for any candidate)
Let Morrigan drink from well
It seems to me that the biggest factor in this is your dialogue throughout the game regarding your views on the chantry. The talks with Dorian, Vivienne around the beginning. Leliana somewhere around the middle, and Cassandra as well seem to have the most influence. Actions such as freeing/conscripting play a role as well, but I don't think as much as these. The game seems to have "choice" dialogue whenever the topic of the chantry comes up with these characters, which is how I think they determine the end outcome. Other decisions such as those listed above seem to help, but ultimately I think it goes to how your inquisitor views the chantry.
I hope a guide for this comes out soon, I really would have rather had Cassandra since it seems like the most peaceful option from what I've seen of the epilogue. \:
I had a non hardened Leliana become the divine, and it explicitly said she was peaceful in her approach to bring everyone together. If she is hardened, and becomes the divine it mentions that the chantrys halls are filled with blood or something to that effect.
