Even though my warden is registered as "alive and well" in my chosen keep state.

Has anyone else had this? Does Leliana just think the warden is dead no matter what, or is this definitely a problem? She said they were "friend before she died", but I have every choice in the keep that I can think of marked for my warden to be alive.

I really hope I haven't wasted a bunch of hours just to have to restart on a crappy import issue...

Same for me, chose Loghain alive + Morigan child with him so killing archdemon should not kill my warden, but codex entry and Leliana tells me she is dead.

Warden dead is the default world state, so odds are high that the import didn't work (most common issue being the gamertag/PSN profile not being properly associated with your Origin account.

But as I know default warden is male, but Leliana tell me  that she miss her, so it seems to me it's not default state.

Same here - and I mean that precisely: I could have written every word in the above post. My Warden was female, romanced Leliana, had Alistair do the Dark Ritual.

Also, my Hawke was female as well.

Actually, I'm pretty sure the default Warden is a female dalish elf, while the default Hawke is a male mage.

Not 100% sure on that but almost. Worth checking out, anyway.

Default Warden is a female Dalish who performed the Ulitmate Sacrifce.  Default Hawke is a male mage who sided with the mages, if that's any help to you determining if this is the default worldstate.

I had exported my state to DAI before launch date, yet I was prompted to do it again after going through and making sure I had the right choices marked. Did it re-prompt because I reselected things, or was there an issue with exported states registering as if they have not been exported yet?

Someone in redcliff was talking about how "the Grey Warden Alistair" used to play there. I made Alistair king. What the hell.

I've sunk a good 30 hours into this game already and I'll be absolutely furious if, in addition to all the other glitches in game, my warden and Hawke never existed. Ugh.

Alistair was raised in Redcliffe so, in and of itself, that doesn't necessarily mean your World State is wrong.

To be sure, you should check your "Playthrough State" to see if the details are correct. You can find it in World States (use the menu icon in the top left hand corner, then go to the second page by clicking on the arrow to move right).

When you've found it, click it to copy it into your "Editable States" and from there you can load it into the Tapestry and check all the tiles.

I haven't begun Inquisition yet, as I wanted to wait a week or two for patches which are typical for all BioWare games, but perhaps Lilly is referring to an event that occurs after Origins? A reason we will never see the Warden in this game, is that they died in some event we had no control over.

But more then likely, it's a bug and you'll just need to wait a week for a new patch to correct the issue if it keeps happening.

I'm having the exact same issue. My warden is male, romanced Leliana, and is alive and well but when I ask Leliana if she new the Warden, she says "I had the privilege of calling HER a friend before she died." Dafuq!? Note this was after 25 hours of gameplay. So I said screw it. Must have accidentally not synced Dragon Age Keep right or something. So I did it again and plowed through until I got to that conversation again (only 4 hours this time). Sure enough, she said the same thing. Awesome. 30 hours of gameplay down the crapper. Now I guess I just won't play my brand new game until Bioware decides to fix this major glaring issue??

The default Warden is a female dalish elf who, I believe, dies killing the Archdemon. It sounds to me therefore that this isn't a problem with the game itself, but a problem with importing your World State. I may be wrong but it sounds like you have been playing the Default World State both times.

First, to state what I assume is obvious, you must make sure you export your World State from the Tapestry. When you do, make a note of the "time stamp" it gives you. Then, when you start up DA:I and it asks if you want to import your own World State, say yes, and then check that the time stamp on the one it finds is the correct one. You should then see the words "Custom World State" in big yellow letters. I apologise if this sounds like I'm trying to teach you to suck eggs. I'm just trying to bottom out the problem, before going on to my next recommendation.

Second, to avoid wasting your time playing with the wrong World Sate, as soon as you gain control of your character, go to the Keep and check your "Playthrough World State". This is created automatically by the game. Use the menu tab (top left-hand corner), choose "World States", then go to the second page (click the big arrow to the right). That will show you a list of all your "Playthrough States". Copy the most recent one into the "Editable" section and load it up into the Tapestry. From there, you can check all the tiles are the ones you chose, before you start playing the game.

Note: It may show your Warden's name as the default (that's a known bug), but the race, sex and class should be correct. I haven't yet found the Warden's name mentioned anywhere in-game, so that shouldn't affect your DA:I experience. If your World State has successfully transferred, however, everything else should be correct. If not, then yes, that sounds like a bug and you should report it.

No. My Warden also survived and also romanced Leliana.

I won't give away the context (although it's only the smallest of tiny, tiny mini-spoilers!) but, when my Inquisitor spoke to her, she quite clearly said that the Warden is still alive and out there somewhere.

I am so mad and frustrated right now, that even though i love this game i am seriously considering that i will stop playing. I also get to this conversation with Leliana and when she said that my warden died and said "she", i thought that i will eat the TV. I spent long time setting the keep and tapestry, i've read so many things about how to properly do everything, and still it looks like it didn't work and from what you guys said it looks like some kind of default world state.

I exported it properly, there is the green arrow, the origin is linked with my PSN account, i am connected to network, the timestamp when starting new inquisition game looked right, so what is wrong?

When i started keep now to check the "playthrough world states" there is nothing there.

Why would you quit? If you don't want to restart, play that worldstate, enjoy it for what it is, then fire up the one you really wanted. I'm not saying it isn't an issue if the Worldstates don't import properly, I just don't see it as worth quitting over.

I don't want to continue playing a worldstate which is completely different from what my worldstate should be. But starting again? There is no way i would be able to make the same inquisitor as first time - which means it would be big buzz kill for me because i am already attached to my inquisitor after XY hours of playing with him. Not to mention making all the choices and dialogues the same as the first time etc.

Well i guess i won't have another choice, than to start over, but this will definitely lower my enjoyment of the game (which was great so far, unitl i started bumping into these problems)

I don't know if its worth mentioning that I'm playing on Xbox One but I am. But I only made one custom world state in the Keep and when I started Inquisition (both times) it asked if I wanted to import. I said yes and got the "custom world state imported". I'll look at what you suggested but it seems like I did everything right (twice).

But were you only planning to play it once? I made worldstates based on my playthroughs of the other games, but I also made one where I picked different things on purpose and two random ones. Why not treat it like one of those? I know nothing is quite like your first playthrough, but I just don't see how it's a waste.

Just like to add the same thing happened to me.

Checked and rechecked. Warden alive and well. Romanced Leliana. Leliana says she's dead.

Hoping this will be a plot point explained later but if it is a bug it needs addressing urgently.

Have you checked your playthrough states in the Keep to see if they have the proper data in them (since that is the data coming straight from Inquisition)?

Yeah. These are all options checked in the Keep. Couldn't be more black and white. In Keep Warden is alive and well in game she's referred to as dead.

Feedback suggestion: Immediately get 'Hero of Ferelden' codex like in DA2 so it's easy to check if the import has worked.
